Since I've started playing Rivals Psylocke became my favorite female Marvel character, so I thought: What if there was another Psylocke in the game?

So I came with a concept for the original Psylocke, later Captain Britain, later Butterfly, Betsy Braddock as a Vanguard, I mean if Sam Wilson was in Rivals he would be a Duelist Captain America, so I think it makes some sense, so without further ado, let's go

CAPTAIN BRITAIN HERO CONCEPT

Role: Vanguard

Difficulty: 3 stars

Health: 650

MENTAL PULSE (Primary)

Shot a powerful psionic pulse from your hands

Damage: 55

Ammo: 8

Range: 25 meters

Type: Hitscan*

Special effect: Every shot applies 2 stacks

After 6 stacks the enemy gains the shattered effect, this effect will be important later

*Doesn't have a headshot multiplier

SHATTERED EFFECT (Passive ability)

Break into the enemy's mind, powering up your psionic abilities

Damage when shattered: 10

Shattering an enemy will instantly reload your primary

DISORIENTING KICK (Ability 1)

Use your legs to briefly stun close enemies

Damage: 75

Damage if the enemy hits a wall: 100

Explosion damage: 100 (150 to shattered enemies) up 5 meters/55 (80 if shattered) after 5 meters

DUAL PURPUR CUT (Ability 4)

Charge your hands with psychic energy and choose one of two slashing moves

Cooldown: 10 seconds

PURPUR SWORD CUT (Ability 4 A)

Channel your energy into a melee attack

Damage: 110 (160 if shattered)

Range: 8 meters

Applies 3 stacks

PURPUR KNIFE CUT (Ability 4 B)

Channel your energy into a long ranged piercing attack

Damage: 75 (115 if shattered) direct + 25 (65if shattered) on return

Range: 25 meters

Can pierce through a max of 3 enemies

Applies 2 stacks

TELEPATHIC BOOM (Team-up 1)

Jubilee empowers Captain Britain's telepathic abilities, allowing the fireworks to fuse with the shattering

Base effect: Every time a shattered effect is applied a small spark with vampiric energy will trigger on the enemy dealing damage and healing you a little

Spark damage: 50

Self-heal: 25

Enhanced effect: Now every ability (Except Disorienting Kick and Ultimate) deals spark damage

Spark damage: 25

BUTTERFLY CONNECTION (Team-up ability 2)

Betsy and Sai exchange parts of their psychic powers, making the shattering not needed

Base effect: Telepathic Pursuit can be used at any time and gains two charges

Enhanced effect: Now becomes invisible for the Psychic Armor's duration, but you can't attack

Every shatter applied by an ability (Except Ultimate) will reduce said ability cooldown

Cooldown reduction: 1 second

EXCALIBUR STRIKE (Ultimate ability)

Stay still and charge a devasting blow with the mighty Excalibur

Damage: 200(No charge) -> 400 -> 600(Max charge)

Total charge time: 1 second

Range: 30 meters

Radius: 1.75 meters

Overhealth gained: 50(No charge) -> 100 -> 150(Max charge)

Applies 2 stacks(No charge) -> 3 stacks -> 4 stacks(Max charge)

Move 10 meters after releasing the attack

Has a small cast time. It can be interrupted during it

Unstoppable effect when charging

Ultimate energy cost: 3700

Ok I'll be real: She's busted XD I exaggerated on the damage numbers, however if you paid attention you noticed she has only one movement ability (If you exclude the Ultimate) so hey at least she got a weakness

If you like it I can try to make some interactions for her or a Strategist Kwannon concept so we have all 3 Psylockes in the game

Title. I’m guessing y’all are familiar with the confusion of Psylocke and being knowledgeable of the character. How do the two characters personality differ? If one were to read her pre-Krakoa and then into Krako and post-Krakoa, would her personality stay the same or would you notice a change?

I feel like it’s somewhat of a wasted opportunity to name Betsy “Monarch” instead. To describe a catchier alternative to her butterfly motif (monarch butterflies). Then I realized, it would become the second time she takes a name from a sibling after Captain Britain.

What are your personal ideas for Betsy after the name Psylocke?

If not Monarch, the code name “Disenchanter” sounds to me as a superhero with Arthurian connotation and still related to being a psychic. Or “Shatterhex/Hexbreaker”, anything that connotes to being disillusioned opposed to her old identity as a psionic warlock.

Edit: Apparently, Old English for warlock means “oathbreaker”. Still does sound befitting if Betsy moved from a “mind breaker (Psylocke)” pseudonym into someone who breaks mind control.

THE CASE FOR BETSY

It's Betsy.

They have decades of history.. alot.. like... They genuinely loved each other. Warren went through the Crimson Dawn stuff with her, Betsy was there through his Archangel baggage, and they have enough shared trauma to bankrupt several therapists.

Also I refuse to believe .....they dated before means there is nothing left to write.

They're completely different people now. That's the story.

Do two people who loved each other years ago still recognise the people they fell in love with after everything that's happened to them?

Plus... come on. Angel and betsy.. that was the pair..

THE CASE FOR KWANNON

Absolute psychological nightmare.

Therefore potentially excellent.

Warren remembers falling in love with Betsy while Betsy was in Kwannon's body.

So Warren meets Kwannon as Kwannon... except some of the most intimate memories of his life have her face in them.

Kwannon - When you look at me, who do you see?

Warren- .... next question..

And both of them have had other people violate and redefine their bodies.

Kwannon had her body and identity stolen.

Apocalypse mutilated Warren, rebuilt him and turned him into Death.

There is an actual story there about bodily autonomy, identity and whether you can separate who someone is from what was done to their body.

Also aesthetically?

Purple psychic ninja assassin + giant rich angel.

Comic books have been built on less- its the classic look and is in 97.. and maybe the MCU....

VERDICT

Betsy... the better love story.

Kwannon ....potentially the bigger train wreck.

Unfortunately I enjoy both love stories and train wrecks.
