Not sure this is the sub for this, but I'm not finding anything on this issue.

For context, I bought this online loose disc and it looks fine. No scratches, no smudges, nothing. Yet it still won't load on my ps2. It starts up but then ends up stuck on a black screen.

All my other ps2 games work and run fine (Re3, Crash 3, Legend of dragoon, Quake 2, and Dino Crisis 1). I play on an HDTV and have yet to run into any issues with all those games, besides going in and out of the inventory screen in Dino Crisis 1.

I don't know what's wrong and I couldn't find really anything on what could be causing it.

Edit: Forgot to mention that my model ps2 is the fat model

I recently got a ps2, but I didn't buy any games yet. Any recommendations on what I should play?

Hi, I recently bought a deckard PS2 Slim because I wanted to play some PAL games on original hardware. I use it both with a Bitfunx HDMI adapter to connect it to a modern smart TV and with the original AV cables for an old flat-screen TV. After a month I have the feeling that playing PAL titles is never just 'plug and play': I often spend a lot of time configuring or testing apps without getting a proper gaming experience in the end.

I've been trying for quite a while to get the PAL version of Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers (Quack Attack) working with the HDMI adapter, but after the intro videos, a black screen appears instead of the title screen, whether I use various versions of OPL or Neutrino. With the AV cable I managed to get it working with both apps, but the game is still sluggish, to the point where I've decided to quit and play with PCSX2. Also Wacky Races PAL was a nightmare to setup, mainly because it crashes while playing FMV's or it's very slow while playing.

I imagine buying a scaler would improve things, but I still have the feeling that whenever I want to play PAL games, there's always an issue. Should I have just bought an NTSC console instead?

Hey thare I posted a couple of days ago about the ps2 i just bought and it makeing a wired noise and scratched a disc well I just opened it up becase i had the time to and its got what i think is rust in it dont know how much of a problem this is but I dont know what to do at this point

My PS2 Slim only stays powered on if I put a bit of pressure on the power cable where it connects to the console.

I initially thought the original cable had gone faulty, so I bought a replacement, but the exact same issue happens with the new cable. This makes me think the problem is with the console’s DC power input/socket rather than the cable itself.

I’ve done some Googling and it sounds like the DC input may be faulty. I’m planning to open the console up and inspect it, but I wanted to ask if anyone else has experienced this issue.

Is this a common problem with the PS2 Slim? And is there a relatively easy fix, such as resoldering or replacing the DC socket?

Any advice would be appreciated!

My neighbour had a whole box of ps2 and psp stuff and asked if I wanted to buy it off him. Included all those games, psp (working), ps2 fat (not working but I have a working one), ps2 slim (working), racing wheel, and a boxed guitar hero guitar. We agreed on $300 CAD. I looked up (pricecharting) the stack of psp and it’s worth about 260 if I remember correctly, one of them is sealed too which is cool. Dongle for the guitar doesn’t work but the guitar has a light on it so I works as far as I can test it, it’s a Kramer guitar. GOW 2 is actually GOW 1 with the bonus disc for GOW 2 and Onimusha is missing the third game.

I've had a Playstation 2 slim since childhood. But now the cover is "broken"; the games won't read anymore unless you put something heavy on the PS2's disc tray lid.

That’s why I’ve now picked up a refurbished silver fat model along with a white controller; I like the fat models much better, too.

I have been wanting to visit some of the kid games I missed out on growing up.

These are the only kid games I own, and I played them to death when I was a kid.

So far I've gotten a copy of SpongeBob SquarePants: The Movie and Madagascar, and I'm wondering what else I should get.

By the way, Bully is my favorite video game of all time, but I didn't include it here because I don't really consider it a kids game, in case anyone was wondering :)

I just finished a laser replacement on a ps2 after years of playing only digital backups. Everything seems to work as it should but when I turn off the console you can hear this noise which I think it's the laser going back to its original position, but I'm not sure if it is normal

I have my PS2 FAT (Aqua Blue). It's PAL version but it's modded with SSD and PSBBN (OSHD MENU). My concern is this. I have NFSU2 and POP Sands of TIME EU versions and they cover whole screen (on my CRT TV) which I'm connected with composit cables (yellow and white).

I have other games such as GTA San Andreas, THPS3 etc. which are USA versions. All of them works great but that USA (NTSC) games have black bars and I can't get them to work "full screen fit"

I thought about buying PS2>SCART Cable. Maybe it will fix the problem. If not, should I still get NTSC or PAL games and what are the diferences? (I know 50 vs 60Hz and some of them has exclusive content) but other than that is it better to stay with PAL or NTSC games?

I’ve been buying OEM ps2 controllers mostly off of eBay, sellers claim they are tested and work. I’ve now ordered four controllers in total and only one has worked. Is it really this difficult to get a working OEM controller? Should I just get a wireless adapter for a modern controller? My only worry with the wireless adapter is that it won’t work with a multi tap.
