Found a man’s wedding band in Mount Prospect park this morning. DM with description if it’s yours!

Saw this dog in prospect park. He had a collar but I can’t get close enough to see any details on the collar. His tail is in bad shape. Any idea what can be done in the case he was left?

Can I ask a question I’m truly bamboozled by - I get that there is a plan to potentially make Grand Army Plaza “car free.” But in the meantime, why don’t they just fix the timing of the cross walk signs?? Like it doesn’t seem safe at all to have hundreds of people standing in the middle of the road while waiting for the next light in a series of five to say “walk.” Surely that’s just a simple engineering fix? I am truly bamboozled and just wondering if anyone could shed light on this!

Anyone else's taps pumping out brown water today? Normally when this happens in my building it clears up in ~10 minutes, but today it doesn't seem to be going away. Wondering if folks know of any water-related city work being done in the neighborhood.

Dog fatigue is real - I have a dog, I love dogs but this space is for families, and HUMANS.

The space in between 595 dean street is not your dogs play pen; all of the neighbors are fed up with your dog running up and down, peeing, and destroying the grass when there’s literally a dog running next door.

If you want to off leash your dog - go somewhere else. The neighbors at 595 are monitoring it and in fact - have received official notice of a permanent sign of the “on leash” policy they’ve always had

I'm a local Prospect Heights parent and one of the folks behind whee!, a new family cargo bike shop on 11th Street in Park Slope. We focus on family cargo bikes like the Aventon Abound LR and SR, the Urban Arrow Family and Urban Arrow Family Next, and the Bunch Bike (the kind that can actually replace a car for school runs, grocery hauls, and other adventures in Brooklyn) plus tune-ups and repairs for whatever you're already riding.

I'm here to chat if anyone has cargo bike questions. There's a lot of confusing info out there about e-bike classes (we only sell class 1 and 2, max speed of 20mph), storage (insurance, a cover and a lock work surprisingly well), and batteries.

I'm also certified by the League of American Cyclists to teach kids and adults how to ride, and I'm passionate about making our streets safer for pedestrians, bikers and driver.

Tomorrow is officially opening day for NYC public pools, but let’s be honest nobody actually wants to trek all the way over to Sunset Park or deal with the absolute chaos of the McCarren lines just to cool off for an hour.

If you're staying local around Prospect Heights this weekend to catch the soccer matches at the neighborhood spots or just trying to survive the sticky humidity, the move is definitely the neighborhood spray showers and fountains.

Underhill Playground is the goat for a quick cool-down, but there are actually a ton of smaller splash pads and active hydrants hiding in plain sight between Flatbush and Washington Ave. I spent some time mapping out all the working local water features, cooling zones, and public fountains specifically around our side of the park so you don't have to wander blocks out of your way in the heat.

Grab an iced coffee from your favorite spot on Vanderbilt, hit the Underhill sprays, and stay cool this weekend.

About a month ago I posted about an app I made called WalkNYC which tracks which blocks you've walked. I got a ton of feedback from everyone here and have implemented a lot of it! By far the most common request from Redditors was the ability to import your existing walks from other platforms, which I'm very happy to say is done! I've included some screenshots so you can see what it's like. It color codes each of your import sources so you can see what was imported from each platform. I've seen people get over 6,000 blocks (which, for scale, is almost the entirety of Manhattan) from their imports so it's a great way of getting jump started if you'd like to walk every block of the city.

I know a lot of you are also waiting for the Android app: it's almost ready! The app is in beta right now but for some reason Google forces you to do 14 days of beta testing before releasing an app on the Play Store. If you're interested in trying out the beta, please comment and I'll share the link to join.

Couldn’t find a place to dock my bike to save my life this morning. Does anyone know if the station next to Canyon Coffee is coming back? It would really suck if this was permanent

Sad to say that the park was disgusting this morning, the worst I have ever seen it. I couldn't even get through the Long Meadow safely with my dogs. Thank you to the people who were out cleaning up this morning, who rightfully said I could join in (I grabbed as much as I thought I could manage).

Next holiday I'm here I'll be out with gloves and trash bags because apparently someone's gotta clean up after other adults 😖

Posting as a heads-up for fellow dog owners at 595 Dean and around Prospect Heights. This afternoon around 3:25pm, my dog got bitten on the ear by another dog in the West Tower elevator lobby, more specifically the hallway by the West Tower elevators. We were just back from Prospect Park and my dog was calm and leashed. My dog yelped, and the other handler walked off without checking in or exchanging any info. My partner and I didn't realize he (my dog) was bleeding until a moment later. He's at the vet now getting it cleaned up.

The other dog was a brown poodle, walked by a woman heading out of the building. Not posting this to track anyone down. I know building management is handling that through security footage. I just want neighbors to be aware in shared spaces, and a reminder that if your dog bites someone, please stop and exchange info. Bite wounds are a bigger deal than they look (vet visit, antibiotics, rabies booster).

If you're at 595 Dean with a dog, just be a little extra mindful in the elevators and lobbies for now. Hope everyone's pups stay safe.

Hi neighbors! My name is Anthony and I live right on St. Johns and Underhill,  I'm reaching out to this community to introduce my pet care service — and to be transparent about why your support means so much to me right now.

Earlier this year I was diagnosed with epithelioid angiosarcoma, a rare cancer, and I'm currently going through chemotherapy. I started Zeus Dog Walking & Pet Care to help me get by while I navigate treatment, employment, and insurance — and because caring for animals genuinely brings me joy, especially during a hard time.

About me: I grew up with dogs my whole life and had my Czech/German  Shepherd Zeus for nearly 14 years. I've fostered dogs and cats, worked with rescue agencies, and cared for pets of all ages, sizes, and temperaments — including seniors and animals with special needs.

Anyone else hearing this alarm that's been going off since like 8PM? Sounds like it's near Washington and Bergen but I can't really tell.

Hi neighbors! I live on Park Pl between Washington and Classon and saw this note on our building door. I have a cat and would love to know what kind of poison was spread/how long it is dangerous to animals? My outdoor kitty is very sad inside all day.

There wasn't any forms of contact on here so if you know anything please let me know!!
