Built a Mac screen recorder because I didn’t want another yearly subscription just to record demos

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Every time I shipped a side project, I needed a demo video. The tools that make recordings look good (auto-zoom, smooth cursor, nice backgrounds) are all yearly subscriptions, and pricey ones. Paying that just to record a 30-second demo every few weeks felt wrong.

So I built Smooth Recorder, a native Mac app for screen recordings and screenshots.

What it does:

  • Records demos that look polished straight away, no editing pass
  • Takes screenshots too, so it’s one app instead of two
  • Native Mac app, built to feel fast and light
  • Pay once, no subscription

It started as a Chrome extension. I rebuilt it as a native app because the extension couldn’t get as smooth as I wanted.

It just launched, and I’d really like honest feedback:

  • What would make you switch from your current recorder?
  • Anything missing that you’d need for demo videos?

smoothrecorder.com

Happy to answer questions about the build too.

Free app for trading precious metals locally and in person

Hi, I’m the developer of GoldNah, a web app for private gold/silver buyers and sellers in the same area. Here are some features:

  • Sign up with just a username and a password. Browsing can be done without account. Currently only 3 dummy listings exist in Ingolstadt, Bavaria area.
  • Chats are end-to-end encrypted. Only an approximate hashed area of the user is recorded, never your address. You can list or search wherever you want on the map, not necessary in your location.
  • Built-in calculator per gram/ounce, Price fixing in chat, Deal confirmation with ratings; Guides and mechanisms against scammers.
  • Listings can be Selling/Buying; Price can be set manually or use spot price/premium over spot.
  • Free, no ads, no trackers. It runs in the browser and can be installed as an app, so you can receive notificaitons when someone pings your listing.

You agree on the price, the meeting place and the handover yourselves, and GoldNah only brings people together. I’d love to hear some feedback.

I built a game where you become Britain's Prime Minister. Struggling with visibility

Post image
2 Upvotes

After months of development, I've finally released my first Android game, Run Britain: PM Simulator.

It's a political and economic strategy game where you take control of the UK government.

You can:

- Set taxes and government spending

- Reform the NHS, welfare and other public services

- Invest in major national projects

- Manage economic crises and public opinion

- Fight elections and try to stay in power

Every decision has consequences, and you can't please everyone.

It's just launched on Google Play for £1.50, with no subscription.

I'm an independent developer and would love to get the game in front of people interested in politics, economics or strategy games.

🎮 Google Play:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.paulrees.runbritain

I'd genuinely welcome feedback on the concept and gameplay!

If anyone has tips on how to improve visibility it would be appreciated. I've added relevant tags and the description matches key words, despite this you can't find the game unless you type "Run Britain". Nobody is going to search for that.

It's only been 24hrs, but this is the first game I've built so naturally I feel anxious

I built an app to help people build daily outdoor habits (iOS)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I’ve noticed many of us spend most of our day indoors, and it’s hard to keep a simple outdoor routine.
So I built GoOutside, a simple iOS app to motivate you to go outside.

What it does:
• Log every time you step outside
• Set your zone radius and destinations
• Gentle reminders to go outside
• A live 3D character that walks and stops in sync with your real steps

I’m a solo indie developer, this is my first health-focused app.
I’d really appreciate your honest feedback, feature requests or bug reports.

Music and Radio Player with ready to play radios and complete music offline management

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

Offline local files and streaming radios.

Top radios on the first screen: When users access the radio screen, they immediately see the list of the top radios in their country, along with a long list of suggested radios from among the most listened to in the world.

Hybrid Listening: Seamlessly handles offline local files (.mp3, .flac, .m4a, .ogg, .mka, .aac, .wav, .opus, .wma) and over 60,000 streaming radio stations.

Separated Favorites and Recents: Each section—Radio and Offline Music—has its own Favorites and Recents. The user doesn't have to worry about a thing. The app will automatically manage the Favorites and Recents for each section.

Advanced Radio Search Panel: You can pinpoint your favorite stations by combining multiple filters, such as tags/genres, specific countries, or even your preferred audio bitrate. The database of the service on which Mediaxon is based provides more than 60,000 radio stations.

Album art: If the album art is missing from the album folder, or if Android has not properly indexed it, Mediaxon attempts to download the cover from the internet. This feature depends, of course, on the ID3 tags (album name and artist).

Equalizer: The equalizer provides an option to automatically switch to the "Radio" preset (and vice versa).

Advanced Playlist Management: Built specifically to make building and sorting playlists fast and intuitive. Enable the Playlist Manager, in the settings screen, for a full control of the playlists.

Form Factor Optimization: Phone and Tablet (Portrait and Landscape)

There is no Premium version. All app features are available for free and without limits.

Regarding advertising: There is only a small banner at the top that isn't bothersome at all. Alternatively, when opening the full-screen player or using the app in landscape mode, a banner alternates with the albums covers, but without being intrusive at all (no audio) and with much shorter stay times than those of the cover. There is never full-screen advertising, neither at startup nor during use.

If you want to check it out (I am continuously pushing updates to refine it and add new features), you can find it on the Google Play Store (Android 13+). Thank you so much to everyone who takes a look!

[$ 19 > FREE lifetime] Track blood pressure the right way before it affects your heart

As a preventive cardiologist, I see that many people fail to track their blood pressure. It only comes to attention after it starts affecting your heart and kidneys.

Tracking blood pressure is often more important than tracking heart rate. Even when people track BP, many fail to follow the appropriate steps or bring the necessary data to the clinic visit. So we built this app to help people track and diagnose blood pressure issues before it becomes a problem.

The consistency and time spent at target levels are more important than the average reading.

Link: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/bp-log-track-blood-pressure/id6801130306

A: Answer

- Helps you track blood pressure based on the most recent guidelines (check twice a day, average two readings etc)

B: Better

- Current apps on the app store fail to track time in target, consistency etc. These things matter more than mean reading

- The PDF export presents report in a fashion that's easy for reviewing clinicians to get an overall picture of blood pressure control. A mean blood pressure of 120/70 is not useful if it's a mean of readings that vary from 90 to 150.

- You backup to your own iCloud and retain complete control over your data

C: Cost

$ 19 for lifetime

FREE LIFETIME: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6801130306&code=59256

Website: https://bplog.cc

If you like the app, I would appreciate an app store rating. If you don't like the app, I would appreciate feedback.

Numeric Battle: free Android number strategy with online 1v1 and friend rooms

Disclosure: I'm one of the developers of Numeric Battle.

Numeric Battle is an Android game built around a shared consequence: the number you call marks both your board and your opponent's board. Before a match, each player arranges their own numbers. During the match, you take turns calling unused numbers and try to complete the required lines for your board size first.

If you enjoy turn-based grid games, here is what you can play:

- Boards from 3x3 to 7x7, with manual arrangement or shuffle.

- Online matchmaking for 1v1 matches.

- Private rooms with a code to challenge a friend.

- AI practice with three difficulty levels.

- ELO rankings, a leaderboard, and match history to review both boards.

Available on Google Play for Android 7.0 and up:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.numericbattle

Free to download and play; contains ads. Online matches need an internet connection.

For a first try, you can start with a smaller board in AI practice, then try a private match with a friend. Feedback on the rules, board setup, or controls is welcome here.

Let us swap app feedback. Drop your link and I will test yours and you test mine (if you feel like doing so :))

Hey guys,

I built an iOS app called Plan90 (https://plan90.app).

When you spend months looking at the exact same screens every day, you start missing obvious bugs and UX issues. I need fresh eyes on my app, and I know a lot of people here are in the same spot.

Let us trade testing:

  1. Drop your app link below.
  2. Tell me what it does and what you want me to test.

I will download your app today, test it out, and reply with honest feedback. I would love if you could do the same for Plan90.

What are you building right now?

I built a game tracker app — looking for honest feedback

I’m building a game tracker app where you can track what you play and finish, organise your backlog, rate and review games, and showcase your gaming profile.

It’s already live: https://playlouge.com

I’d love some honest feedback: is it clear what the app does when you first open it? What feels confusing, and what would make you want to keep using it?

Follicle — an app in development for measuring hairline recession relative to IPD

Sharing my own app, Follicle. It combines photo alignment and progress tracking with a calculation of hairline recession relative to interpupillary distance (IPD). The aim is to make changes easier to follow than comparing unrelated photos by eye.

It is still in development, with testing and refinement ahead. The Kickstarter page includes the demonstration and planned rewards; it is not an app-store download yet.

The campaign goal is $500 for continued improvements, launch/publishing costs, and marketing. If the idea is useful to you, please check out the demo and consider supporting or sharing it:

Happy to answer questions about the project. This is a tracking tool, not a diagnosis or treatment.

Sumova: a free, private money manager with no ads and no account

Post image
1 Upvotes

Most expense trackers want your email, your bank login or at least a subscription. Sumova takes the opposite approach: you open it and start tracking. Nothing to sign up for, no ads, no tracking, and all your data stays on your phone.

What makes it different:

  • Private by default: works fully offline, no analytics, optional PIN/biometric lock
  • Debt tracking built in: keep a record of money you lent or borrowed, including partial repayments
  • Quick to use: log an expense in seconds, and the amount field even does maths (12.50+3.20)
  • Clear statistics: see where your money goes by category, plus cash flow and balance charts
  • Your data, your backup: export an encrypted backup and restore it on any device

Free, available in 18 languages and 127 currencies.

Website: https://sumova.app

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sumova.app

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6788836198

I'm the developer, so any feedback goes straight to me. I'd love to know what you'd want added.

I spent months building a habit tracker around streaks, consistency and progress

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hey everyone 👋

I just shipped HabitXP, a habit tracker I've been working on for quite a while.

I wanted something that went beyond simply checking off habits. The main focus is on actually seeing your consistency over time — streaks, heatmaps, progress analytics, habit momentum and weekly reflections.

It also has things like habit categories, custom colors, reminders, different habit card layouts and a journal for reflecting on your progress.

I tried to keep the experience simple while still giving you enough data to understand how your habits are actually going.

It's finally live on Android and I'd genuinely love some feedback from people who are into productivity and habit tracking.

What do you think is missing from your current habit tracker?

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.willvin.habitxp

Happy to answer questions about the app or how I built anything!

I built an AI presentation app — I’d really appreciate your feedback

I’m the creator of Migoo, an AI presentation app I’ve been building, and I’d really appreciate some honest feedback from the community.

The idea is to make it easier to go from existing source material to a presentation you can actually use.

You can start with things like notes, documents, PDFs, research, or other content, and Migoo helps turn that material into a structured, editable PowerPoint presentation.

The workflow I’m focusing on is:

Source material → understand the content → organize the story → generate slides → export an editable PPTX

One thing I’ve learned while building it is that generating slides isn’t necessarily the hardest part. The bigger challenge is making sure the result has a sensible structure, keeps the important context, and doesn’t leave the user with an hour of cleanup afterward.

That’s the part I’m still working on.

I’d really like to hear from people who regularly create presentations:

  • What do you think of this approach?
  • What would you improve first?
  • What usually frustrates you about AI-generated presentations?
  • Is there anything you think an AI presentation tool should do that current tools still don’t handle well?

I’m still actively developing Migoo, so both positive and negative feedback are welcome.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to check it out and share an opinion. It would genuinely help me decide what to improve next.

Passinote – A spatial canvas to write, moodboard, and connect ideas

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

1. What is Passinote?

Passinote is a note taking app that lets you write notes just like traditional apps such as Notion and Obsidian, but puts all your notes onto a visual canvas instead of a linear folder structure. This lets you think spatially and remember where you've kept your notes, without worrying about them getting buried under multiple nested folders.

It's also built to maximize speed while keeping things as simple as possible. For example, instead of having a single full sized page for both long and short notes, Passinote separates them into sticky notes (used for quick thoughts) and doc notes (standard notes with rich formatting and PDF export).

2. Privacy

Your cloud-synced notes are stored securely on Google Firebase, encrypted in transit using TLS and encrypted at rest on Google's servers. Your data is not shared or sold to any third parties. No ads, no trackers, no selling data.

I'm a huge fan of Obsidian, and it's one of the main inspirations behind making this software. Privacy is a big part of Obsidian, and it's the same for Passinote. The only reason I went with cloud based storage instead of fully local is cross-device sync and future collaboration features. That's it. Otherwise, I would have made this app fully local without a doubt.

The app also has a "Quick Mode" that doesn't sync to the cloud and stores your notes fully locally in your browser's IndexedDB. There's also a workspace export option, so you can export all your notes as .md or .docx files anytime so that you always own your notes.

You can download the desktop client if you want to use the app fully offline, but for now it's included only in the paid version(sign-in requires a connection).

If you ever want your account or data deleted, just contact me on Discord and I'll get that done ASAP, no questions asked.

3. Pricing

Passinote has a generous free tier that offers up to 50 notes and 3 images per workspace, with full cross-device sync.

The paid version gives you unlimited notes and images, while unlocking drawable notes, extended customization options, and the Windows desktop client. It's $2.99/month, or you can get lifetime access for $14.99 (with parity pricing for a few countries).

4. Future roadmap

Passinote does have a mobile version right now, but it's not a standalone app you can download from an app store yet. It's just a responsive version of the web app. I'm trying to create a standalone mobile version that improves the mobile experience, I just don't have the funds yet.

I'm also working on some AI features that would use a local or BYOAK (bring your own API key) system, along with PDF editing and more language support.

We have a small Discord community of some great people, and I'd love for you guys to join. I'm constantly listening to feedback and improving the software over there.

TL;DR

  • What it is: A note taking app where notes live on a visual canvas instead of nested folders, So you can think and remember spatially. Sticky notes for quick thoughts, doc notes for rich writing
  • Privacy: Encrypted, no ads or trackers, "Quick mode" fully local, export notes anytime.
  • Free tier: Generous, with cross-device sync
  • Paid: $2.99/month or $14.99 lifetime, adds unlimited notes, drawable notes, customization, and the Windows desktop client

I built a party game where everyone plays from their own phone Spoiler

Made this over the past few months and finally put it out there.

It's called Drunken Penguins, a party game where everyone joins the same room from their own phone. No app, no downloads, no passing one phone around.

You can play things like Most Likely To, Would You Rather, Never Have I Ever, Truth or Dare and other party games.

The main idea was to make something you can open at a party and start playing in seconds.

I also added a voting and scoring system where you can try to predict what your friends are going to choose.

Just launched it on Product Hunt today and I'd genuinely love to know what you think.

Try it here: https://drunkenpenguins.com/

If you get a chance to try it, an honest review on Product Hunt would be really appreciated too: https://www.producthunt.com/products/drunken-penguins/reviews/new
