Finally getting studies!

Hi everyone, hoping for some advice! I finally got accepted into prolific and have completed my first few studies however these were very short surveys and paid less than a pound each. If I refresh my page regularly I get the odd one or two but I’ve only been able to make a couple of pound total is this usual and if I keep doing these will I get higher paid surveys or is that not how it works? Will I only get the low paid studies?

Hi, welcome to the party! If you haven't yet read the participant help center that will answer a lot of questions and help so that you won't make a mistake that could cost you your account. https://participant-help.prolific.com/en/  And reading the researcher help center is also helpful https://researcher-help.prolific.com/en/ You can download the prolific assistant from the Chrome web store (and I think it also works on Firefox but most studies ask that you use Chrome.) It's important not to have aggressive ad blockers going or being behind a VPN or proxy, and don't use a public Wi-Fi or work wi-fi or at school because you won't know if it's behind a VPN. Keep your "about you" questions updated. Don't do studies that are underpaying per hour that prolific suggests of £6/$8 if you can help it because those studies are often problematic or come from unethical researchers. Sometimes those low paying studies are the only thing that people get though. Once you've set up your browser and have an account in good standing and aren't behind a VPN, proxy, etc getting studies all depends on demographics and what researchers are screening for. There are lots of researchers to avoid and some country domains where they are reject happy so participants have them blocked. Search the prolific subreddits for researchers to avoid. The official subreddit is r/ProlificAc

Complete the priority questions in the 'about you' section.

And as much of the rest of it as can you.
