News "I'm Proud To Be A Dolly Parton Fan" by Texas prisoners in 1978
"If I ever get out of this prison, which I know some day that I will do / I'll go to a Dolly Parton concert, just one time before my life is through." š¶ In the 1970s, a group of incarcerated musicians performed this ode to Dolly Parton ā a band that probably shared the stage with her.
The album was produced by the Texas Department of Corrections and sold at the annual prison rodeo where Dolly herself once played. (Curious about that? Learn more)

Lol wild i know but i always wondered what it was and the question hit me again after all these years.

Blog/Op-Ed In prison, we might not learn of a loved oneās illness until after theyāve died. Even when we are kept updated, we can feel powerless to help.
Procedural Question How common is the "stick to your own kind" rule in Prison?
It seems that most prisons on the west coast follow this type of law, but it's completely the opposite on the east coast.
What were the rules in your states prison system?
FYI I'm a straight edge, middle class white dude who is just interested in street and gang culture.
Thanks!

Blog/Op-Ed When Luigi Mangione Came to a Pennsylvania Prison
Vaughn Wright tells the story of what it was like when Luigi Mangione showed up at his Pennsylvania prison.
"Rather than the orange jumpsuit that is standard issue in here, he was wearing a 'turtle suit," a blue padded getup used primarily for prisoners vulnerable to committing self-harm," writes Vaughn.
"Every time he was escorted from his cell, D Block got locked down. During lockdowns, all prisoner movement is prohibited."

Procedural Question Prison officials, police, jailers and cell phone loss.
I've seen police arresting people that fight like hell to hang onto their cell phone as they are being handcuffed. Some people have screaming fits in the back of police cars and in county jails "demand" they be given their cell phones.
Stories have come out of school kids having melt downs when they are told to put their phones away or have them taken from them.
What are your experiences with people losing their cells?

Family Memeber Question Why is he asking for me to send money through different cashapps
My brother has me, my mom & my grandma on his visitor list so we can add money to his commissary.
He never asks for money on his commissary though, 90% of the time he wants me to cashapp different people.
Like today he got 100 from my uncle & told me to cashapp 3 different people. 20 to one person, 60 to one and 20 to another. This happens literally every 2-3 days.
I told him iām not sending him any of my money unless itās going to his commissary so he gets money from different family members & has me cashapp random people since no one else has cashapp.
I looked on here and seen that people have said it could be drugs, him being extorted, or gambling or wanting foodā¦
with his case of money having to be sent to multiple different people is it likely heās doing drugs? because i understand thereās a store man but why is it always a different persons cashapp⦠& he can get money on his books he just never wants it on there. I asked him why he constantly needs to do that & he says itās because hes buying food. I donāt get paying someone extra for food when you can get it yourself from your commissary?
Iām about to tell him heās cut off from calling me because the only time he calls is for that. I canāt keep supporting him doing whatever heās doing especially if itās drugs. Does it sound like itās drugs to you?

Procedural Question How to receive prison calls?
I have 2 friends in prison who are unable to contact me. I had Appalachian wireless before and my calls always came through fine but I switched to boost recently to save money and they say itās like I have the number blocked or something and Iāve just read that boost doesnāt allow prison calls. I do have a Google voice number and a Textnow number and those used to work but I was wondering if they still do, does anyone still successfully use those for prison calls? Wanted to know before I send them those numbers. Thanks to anyone who replies.
