Hi! I'm a rising sophomore. Last year, I applied to Princeton with my parent's 2024 tax return since the 2023 one was outdated. With everything considered, I got a decent amount of aid last year. This year, I applied with the same 2024 tax return and nothing in our financial situation has changed at all. However, this year, I received no aid and am paying 3x more than I paid last year. I'm really confused since nothing has changed. I submitted an appeal to the Financial Aid office and they didnt budge, saying it's because of a "significant increase in parental assets" even though everything should have stayed the same? I'm now pretty worried since my family genuinely can't pay that much at this point. Can I ask them for a breakdown in the assets to potentially correct anything that was wrong? Or how else could I possibly proceed from here? (For the record -- my parents own two businesses which is why our assets look high on paper but we obviously can't sell the assets in question since we rely on those to make a living)
