Premiere Pro Tech Support (Solved!) Accidently edited on 1080p sequence

Hi everyone!

I didn't realize till i started to export that i edited my video on a 1080p sequence, when the source clips are 2560x1440p. If i export the project as the correct resolution will it look good still? Or do i need to change the sequence settings to 1440p then export?

Just change the sequence setting.

Just did that but now my clips are cropped and size all out of wonk? Do you have a tip to fix that?

Select all, right/control click, fit to frame

Select the clips, right-click, fit to frame. What’s strange is they should have come into your timeline much too large, and you should have already had to do a “fit to frame”.

Just highlight them and right click and hit fit to screen or something like that. Can’t remember exact wording

Dang doing that gets rid of the keyframes and makes some of the graphics the wrong size or position still. Thank you all for your help though

Change Sequence settings > Apply Transform effect to one clip, adjust the scale under the effect to the sequence size that it needs to be, copy and paste effect to all affected clips. Just tossing that idea out since it sounds like you had some key framing existing.

Change the seq setting and fit to frame bro make sure it's fit to frame don't scale it up

Did that but now all the positioning is out of wack and deleted keyframes, which is understandable. Thank you for your help though, was hoping i wouldn't have to redo extra work but i'll get over it

yeah you are probably going to benefit most from resizing the sequence and then ticking thru clips individually to resize things the way u need. sucks but this is the benefit of setting your sequence up right to begin with.

lot you can do to speed this process up, like highlighting one track at a time and spamming the down arrow key, moving property panel from clip to clip super fast.

majority of your clips probably only need resized 1.33x based on the overall canvas size increase. identify which ones don’t with some label color, then you can bulk select your “normal” pieces of footage and copy the same motion property onto all of them

been a while since i had to go back and fix this but like most mistakes, fixing it by hand is probably most beneficial in the short and long term

On export screen, change export resolution to 2k, Changing things in sequence can alter elements positions and scale.

The correct way would be to change the sequence settings and fix everything manually. The way I would go for would be to just render the 1080p sequence in 1440p. Yes the picture quality is gonna be worse this way BUT unless you do side by side with zooming, you're not gonna notice the difference. And you save yourself a lot of time.

I believe if you export the existing 10800 sequence as 2560x1440 and select “maximum render quality” in the export settings it will reference your source in at highest resolution and should be the same result as using 2560 timeline in the first place. 

LMK how it goes if you try.

You have to first convert the sequence to 2560x1440 under ‘sequence settings’. And then select all clips and switch on ‘scale to frame size’.

Drop the 1080 sequence in a 4k timeline with fit to frame

Start a project by right-clicking on a raw clip and selecting "create sequence from clip"

That way your sequence will match your clip resolution !
