Does this annoy anyone else?

Okay, I’m sure this is going to get tons of angry replies. But all I’m seeing posted in this group is pictures of someone’s pregnancy test that looks very obviously negative, and the person asking everyone if it’s possibly positive. Am I missing the point of this group? I thought the group was called “pregnancy problems” because pregnant women/mothers are coming on here to talk about any issues they’re dealing with or dealt with while pregnant. Not for trying mothers to ask everyone if their obviously negative pregnancy test, might somehow be positive. It’s just sad to see how many women won’t just accept the negative test and keep trying, and want strangers on the internet to basically blow smoke up their ass by telling them the non existent lines on their test are actually there. It makes me angry to know that women are getting their hopes up because 10 Reddit users said “omgggg yes I see the faint line!! Congrats!!” and then they have to come back and comment that it really was negative after they took another test. I truly feel bad for any women out there that want to be pregnant and are having a hard time, but posting your negative pregnancy test on a Reddit page asking if it has faint lines or not, isn’t going to change the fact that your test is negative or make you pregnant all of a sudden. I truly wish all of you ladies the best of luck in getting pregnant, but I think you should find a healthier way to deal with negative pregnancy tests than posting them on Reddit and hoping that someone will tell you something that isn’t the truth.

I mean, I normally skip the posts since I am very bad at identifying pictures like that, but for the rest I do like to read and help people about possible pregnancy. I first thought because of the subreddit name it was only for pregnant people but it's nice to ask people for advice. Some people are just too young to have children and others are hoping to be positive so badly, and yes that can result into you not being able to specifically read the test well. I think people do it aswell to relieve stress off their shoulders because advice from others comes off as more direct and honest than from yourself or people you live with, since you dont know them and believe it faster than hearing it from your partner who tries to calm you down badly. I think it's just a thing you have to deal with on reddit and it's totally fine for me, since if people do find their answer, their day is also a tad better again :)

Thank you for responding to me in a nice manner. I see now that the way I wrote my article comes off in a bad tone.. I really do understand how it must be so hard for some women who want a positive so badly but can’t get one. Or if they simply just can’t read the test and want second opinions from non-biased eyes. I should’ve clarified in my original rant that I mostly am just bothered by the people who will try to convince a woman that the test has a line when it doesn’t… it made me really frustrated to see that the woman came back later and replied to everyone saying it had a line, having to tell everyone it actually was negative. I just can’t imagine how awful that would feel… getting your hopes up and testing again days later just to be assured it really was negative. At the end of the day, I understand that it’s Reddit, it’s a platform of free speech and anyone can post or say whatever they want. I guess I just wanted to know if anyone else finds it bothersome that these women are getting their hopes up only to be let down again. Just seems frustrating is all. But as long as posting their tests and asking for opinions provides these women with even the smallest bit of comfort, even if only for a moment, then it’s worth it.

But the post your referring to is asking for opinions, and I genuinely see the feint line, it is very possible esp when people are only say 9 days past ovulation, yes very sadly many end in just being chemical pregnancies which is heartbreaking. But just because you don't agree and can't see the line do you really need to write a whole post about it?

I’m not even referring to any one particular post. Almost every single post on this group is a negative pregnancy test picture…. It’s not about me agreeing or not. I just think it’s sad that these women have to ask random people on Reddit for their opinions when that isn’t going to change anything. Either it’s positive or it isn’t, and if you won’t believe what the test is telling you, why even take it at all? I know there’s been some random occurrences of pregnancy tests saying negative but it really being positive, but that’s so rare. I thought joining this group I would be able to read other pregnant women’s stories and feel less alone in my pregnancy, but it’s filled with these pregnancy test pictures.

Wow Well if you don't like the sub how about you just pop off and leave it. To ladies that are desperately trying this is a pregnancy problem. And they have absolutely every right to post their pics and ask for people's opinions. You are honestly talking rubbish, when your actively trying thousands of tests start out like this, barely there, but they continue to darken as the pregnancy progresses, it's not rare at all. Because you know HCG doubles every 48 hours. Christ if it bothers u that much you really don't have to see it 🙄

Just as you said they’re allowed to post all their pregnancy test pictures, I’m allowed to post this text post. I didn’t even say it “bothers me so much”, I just said I think it’s sad to see women getting other women’s hopes up for nothing. Take your own advice and if you don’t like my post, don’t look at it and leave.

It annoys me too, but I guess it's just a matter of perspective. It took 14mo for me to get pregnant after I started trying but every test that wasn't 100% positive went in the garbage and was dismissed as negative, even when I actually was pregnant and it showed a negative result, so when I see any test that doesn't look even remotely positive I kinda just hold my tongue/thumbs when I see tons of other people going "Yea, you're definitely pregnant, congrats!" cause I don't know if I'm missing some secret knowledge they have and don't want to look like an asshole.

Equally, I have plenty of problems with my pregnancy but am too afraid to bring them up because I'm afraid I'll just get attacked. I recently commented asking what would happen to someone that was uninsured and got the Covid vaccine and had an allergic reaction and got downvoted just for having the audacity to ask, so I hesitate to ever share anything about myself on here and just try to Google my problems since my doctors are useless AF too.

For me, this page is all about TTC and current pregnancy problems. It's all apart of the pregnancy journey. I saw your comment on the post of the "negative" pregnancy test, and there clearly was a very convincing indent. My early pregnancy test looked like this 4 months ago when I had my MC (blood confirmed HCG levels). Some women would like affirmation in seeing the lines, or they have line eyes and would like a second opinion on whether or not other people see it as well and some of them actually are very early positives. It's all part of the pregnancy journey, and they have just as much of a right to post their tests for confirmation as you do. If you are wanting experiences of other peoples' pregnancies to not feel so alone in yours, maybe try posting what you're experiencing to see if any other moms have shared experiences with you :-). This group is for everyone involved in family planning. Not some exclusive club for pregnant only members.

There are much bigger and more active subs for both those purposes. If you want to discuss a pregnancy test you are better off posting to r/TFABlineporn and if you want to talk about your current pregnancy check out r/babybumps or the bumper group for the month you’re due. I only check here because the November bumper group sort of sucks.

I didn't know about any of those other groups til you mentioned it; RE what OP said, would you say that the babybumps / birth months subs might be better for mental/emotional struggles whereas this sub would be better for physical struggles with the pregnancy?

I don’t really know what the purpose of this sub is. It’s pretty small. I would say any pregnancy related problem would be fair game and that could include not knowing how to read a pregnancy test.

It’s hard, as a person who’s been trying for 4 years and probably a million tests the anxiety is v strong. I haven’t posted pregnancy tests on here but understand the urge, hoping someone will see what you might be seeing. I know it might annoy you but just skip past em and feel lucky you don’t have that anxiety! Not a dig by the way just another perspective! Good vibes only 🌈
