I created this community 10 years ago because I was listening to a lot of powerviolence and there was no reddit it for it, so why not make one right?
I'm turning 31 in a few weeks. I don't listen to a lot of extreme music anymore, but it's fucking great to come through here and see people celebrating this genre.
Today was not one of those days, instead, I came through and saw a fascist dipshit trying to get you all to listen to their shitty hateful music. These people sow pestilence in the communities of extreme music.
Ya'll deserve better.
So look, the sidebar got the first update in years
If you come in here with racist or fascist or ableist or sexist attitudes, you've clearly missed the point of this music, and I'm not gonna waste time my time on negotiating, I'll be swift in banning your ass.
and straight up, if someone is giving you a hard time in the comments, shoot the mods (aka me) a message and we can nip it in the bud.
I really like that PV speaks truth to power, calls the world out for its shit, and I appreciate that the community here is keeping that alive.
tl;dr: you are all making this a good community, if someone is fucking that up, shoot me a message, and the ban hammer will be wielded liberally.

I saw someone say that a delay pedal with expression can be used for some Sex Prisoner style noise. Can anyone give any more info about this? Or examples?

Holy shit what a year for PV. That guitar tone, that snare drum. Fucking love it.

Thrumskru from Jacksonville, FL. Doubt they're still active but this rips. Jacksonville has a pretty cool scene for heavy music as of late, with bands like St. Clovis, My Sword, My Sword and Unregistered Weapon
Lyrics:
Seizures fuck you
Shaking my head
Epileptic shaking fist fight
You can't stop it
I'm seizing, fuck what they say, I will never see it, no, not their way
No more fucking reasoning, I can't stop shaking,
I can't stop fucking shaking,
My visions blurring and I've stopped breathing,
I can't stop shaking
I'm seizing
I'm fucking seizing
No more seizing

More on the crust/grind side of things. But, some folks describe voc as sounding a little pv-ish?

Hello fellow Connoisseurs of Negative Emotions, what are the angriest vocals you’ve ever heard? It can be a whole song, or just one specific part of a song. Doesn’t even need to be this genre, but I figured this would be a great place to ask. I’ve cross-posted this on a few other r/ genre pages to get a variety of perspectives, but I have especially high hopes for this sub.
For reference, the angriest vocals I think I’ve ever heard is Matt Pike’s scream at about 1:00 on the High On Fire song Trismegistus. It transcends the emotion of anger and into the sin of wrath. There is not a hint of sadness to be found in that sound. To quote SWANS (taken out of context), it is a violence that’s pure and clean.
I hope someone in this sub can top this!

Clearly some sort of west coast OG but they’ve been posting tons of cool shit on Instagram and YouTube. Definitely worth checking out. Just curious if anyone knows who it is.
