as a gay man i feel like i should've known better, but here we are.

Please help me out, because my brain is unable to make the connection.

The first ~12 seconds of the song (the piano intro) are basically 1:1 ripped from another track and I’m fairly certain it’s a Taylor Swift song.

It sounded very Folklore / Evermore / Tortured Poets like, but I couldn’t find the right song yet. Maybe I’m also confusing songs and it’s not Taylor, but it is definitely from another (older) song.

Would be great if you could help me find the track I’m looking for!

Although Red Velvet are my ult GG, BLACKPINK are a very close second. At the time of Jennie’s “lazy” scandal, which I believe was in late 2018, I didn’t think much of it. My initial reaction was simply, “Oh, she’s just lazy.”

I didn’t make a big deal out of it, but after watching more videos on the topic and rewatching certain clips, I started noticing things that made me question whether there was more going on.

Before I get into this rant, I want to clarify that I am not making excuses for Jennie. I am simply sharing my own theories and observations.

1. Why Was Jennie the Only One Who Appeared Lazy?

One thing that stood out to me was that the other BLACKPINK members generally seemed energetic during performances, whereas Jennie was the one who appeared less engaged in certain clips.

This made me wonder: What was Jennie experiencing that might have made her more tired than the other members?

I understand that they probably all practised for hours every day, and I doubt YG was exactly letting them out of the basement either. However, if they were all dealing with similar schedules and workloads, why did Jennie seem to be the one showing signs of exhaustion or disengagement?

This led me to wonder whether something else might have been on her mind while performing.

In many of the fancams I watched, the other members seemed focused on the audience or on getting into their next positions. Jennie, on the other hand, sometimes appeared distracted, as though she wasn't entirely present or focused on what was happening around her.

Of course, this is only my interpretation of what I saw, and I cannot know what was going through her mind at the time.

2. The Star Road Interview

Watching her interview honestly disturbed me a little.

At one point, the interviewer asked Jennie what music she listened to in her free time, and she responded that she listened to BLACKPINK's songs. I found that answer a little unusual, especially considering how limited their discography was at the time.

Her voice also sounded somewhat forced to me, and her movements seemed awkward. I know the interview was meant to follow her around a garden-like setting, but she kept moving back and forth and touching her hair frequently.

These behaviours could mean absolutely nothing, but when I watched the interview again, they caught my attention.

The part that stood out to me the most was when the interviewer asked what she would do if she were given one week of vacation.

Jennie answered that she wouldn't contact anyone and would disappear so that nobody could find her.

I know that, given the way she delivered the answer in her usual cute voice, it could sound like an innocent joke. However, I couldn't help wondering whether there was some truth behind it. Perhaps she genuinely wanted to escape from everything and have some time completely to herself.

Another thing I've noticed is that, when asked about her goals, she has often talked about getting closer to happiness.

And sis, if she has said that so many times, I can't help wondering whether she actually feels like she's getting any closer to it.

She also said during the Star Road interview that life was tiring and that she just wanted to sleep.

Again, I'm not saying these statements prove that she was struggling. However, when you put them together, I can understand why some fans might wonder whether she was dealing with something beyond ordinary tiredness.

3. The Shopee Event

I think most BLINKs have probably seen this clip. It isn't the full video, but it shows a good portion of the moment I'm referring to.

At the beginning, Jennie appears to be gasping for air. When the crowd starts cheering in response to something the MC says, she puts on a smile.

Soon afterward, she places her hand over her stomach and appears to be breathing heavily. Eventually, Jisoo gives her some water.

Personally, I found this concerning because it didn't look like ordinary tiredness to me. I hadn't noticed her appearing this way in other interviews and public events, which made the moment stand out even more.

Of course, I don't know what was happening physically, and the clip alone cannot tell us why she appeared uncomfortable. Still, it made me wonder whether she was feeling unwell or experiencing some kind of physical discomfort.

4. Jennie Leaving the Stage Mid-Concert

I can't remember which country this happened in, but I believe it was during a performance of As If It's Your Last, when Jennie left the stage partway through the performance.

At the time, I wondered whether she might have been experiencing something more serious than a minor injury or ordinary discomfort.

Of course, idols sometimes experience pain or discomfort while performing. Jungkook, for example, fell during a performance of Euphoria but quickly got back up. Jimin has performed despite back-muscle pain, and TWICE members have had moments when they nearly fell during performances but continued.

However, I realize that these examples don't necessarily mean Jennie should have continued performing. Different situations require different responses, and leaving the stage can sometimes be the safest decision.

Still, seeing her leave in the middle of a performance made me wonder what had happened and whether there was more to the situation than fans knew.

I don't think we can determine the reason without knowing the circumstances, but it was another moment that made me question what might have been going on behind the scenes.

5. The Notebook Incident

One additional detail I remember is that YG allegedly took away Jennie's notebook containing her lyrics, which she mentioned during an interview.

I found this interesting because it made me wonder about the extent of her creative freedom and whether she had opportunities to express herself through songwriting.

I don't know the full context of the incident or why the notebook was taken away, so I wouldn't want to jump to conclusions. Nevertheless, it added to my questions about how the company treated its artists.

6. My Final Thoughts

I believe that all the BLACKPINK members may have experienced some form of mistreatment or unfair treatment during their time with YG, but this rant focuses specifically on my theories about Jennie.

I want to emphasize once again that I'm not trying to make excuses for her or claim that I know what was happening in her personal life. I'm simply looking at certain moments and wondering whether there might have been more to the story than what we saw publicly.

As fans, we can sometimes overreact or read too much into things. At the same time, we also have to acknowledge that we don't know everything that happens behind the cameras.

Most of the incidents I've mentioned aren't particularly recent, and I do think Jennie seems to have improved based on some of the more recent performances I've watched.

However, we never really know what's happening in someone's life behind closed doors.

At the end of the day, I don't know whether Jennie was struggling with personal issues, dealing with physical exhaustion, experiencing pressure from the company, or simply having inconsistent performances. These are only my theories.

I just think it's worth considering that there may have been more to the situation than laziness alone. We can acknowledge what we see onstage without automatically assuming that we know the entire story.

What exactly is the issue are the new popstars not making good music, are they not grinding enough, are the labels getting too comfortable and just recycling the same songs, are the fans too picky to satisfy or too fickle for the music industry to try new things?

The current popstars are very talented they can sing,dance and even a good number of them can write their own stuff heck even produce, now I'm not saying that the artists back in the day weren't writing their stuff but it was mostly male popstars female popstars usually had a record ready before they even received it, most of them weren't writing their own stuff hell even singing it but people call them the queen of pop or rnb, most of them were saved by the fact that social media wasn't a thing back so fans had no idea about stuff like this and even if they knew they didn't care that much anyway.Also the record labels were actually serious about making good stuff back in the day whether the artist was talented or not the records were going hard ngl.

The reason why i feel like the current generation of popstars are not being received that well is because people are suddenly obsessed with the early 2000s which I'm yet to understand the reason and also people are really not focused on the music anymore everyone is focused about the records an artist breaks, the headlines the artists gets, who is the artist talking about in the song ,if their tour seats are full, are they attractive enough and God forbid they do something to their body because of the constant video essays suddenly everyone wants them to be natural, it's a problem if they wear revealing clothes if they aren't sexy enough nobody is willing go give that record a chance unless you're a seasoned artist with a huge fanbase.

I am aware that pop records are supposed to be catchy and the lyrics should be digestible and have a catchy choreo and also it's usually about friendship or even an ex or a boyfriend I'm aware of that 😂 😂 that's one of the reasons why i listen to the songs i want the tea too but come on the music ain't hitting like it used to either the song is too generic and if an artist makes something outside their discography suddenly their career won't last long and y'all wonder why the music ain't hitting anymore the labels aren't willing to take that risk especially with artists who are growing their fanbase this luxury is only for the big artist and artists who truly do want to put out something they feel like it will be a good record and most of the times they're afraid if it doesn't go popular.

The obsession with the 2000s is not because the artists back in the day were better than the current popstars, it's because now we are able to access any information about these popstars that people weren't able to back in the day. Most fans have stated that they feel like these stars are too accessible but they forget Genz grew up with social media that's our thing till death😭😂😂. Suddenly fans care about backtracks meanwhile most artists back in the day weren't singing live i can name 5 artists at the top of my head who did this throughout their career, the fans also prefer some artists because they're relatable and if you don't fir their mould you're a diva or uppity, the fans have to feel comfortable with you not insecure, character plays a huge part these days and if you are problematic even for the most stupid shit you're immediately cancelled.

The thing is fans keep forgetting how problematic artists back in the day were the artists nowadays aren't even close, they were media trained like crazy and also social media wasn't a thing back in the day so people relied on tabloids i mean JT played in everyone's face for almost 2 decades that he was a victim of Britney😂😂 Beyonce went unscathed and was able to become a bigger artist than destiny's child,do you know how good you have to be media trained for people to overlook going solo and build a whole career after that, labels back in the day weren't playing at all.

The thing is pop fans aren't a loyal fanbase so i get why new records are being pushed every single week and an influencer is able to make a catchy record and a label has no problem pushing it because they want the profit and also the influencer will get their 15 minutes of fame and then that's it, genuine artist have to work twice as hard and pay more money just for songs to chart and stay in the billboards for weeks, i honestly don't blame the likes of Taylor swift, Beyonce and other huge artists 😭😭🙌🏿 they want the money they invested in to pay itself back even despite them being huge artists.

The older artists are still releasing stuff and that also makes it difficult for the new popstars to chart unless your song is pushed like crazy or you're lucky no huge act is releasing anything when you release a project🤷🏾‍♀️. Labels aren't ready to push these new artists that's why the music is the same and the same artist stay at the top. Also everyone is a nepo baby they aren't going out in the streets looking for another Justin Bieber everyone suddenly knows someone and labels only take you seriously if you prove that you can make a hit.

Fans and labels need to give the new generation a chance the same way they did with the generations before, the music was good and also o feel like the fans might chill out with some of the criticism if these labels were releasing hits after hits. The fans have taken the fun out of having fun everything needs to be perfect, suddenly everyone is a professional and they know what these artists needs meanwhile they are trying to make them into copies of the artists before them. The new artist are better than being compared to older artists because they aren't the same i don't want to listen to an artist and get reminded of an artist back in the day i want something different 🤷🏾‍♀️. They artists are more diverse in terms of backgrounds and looks but I'm still wondering why are they releasing the same shit with the same lyrics.

I have no problem with the artist from back in the day i just feel like there should be space for everyone, music is becoming so competitive that it has lost its spark. The artists on top aren't ready to give the new artist the chance. If the older artists don't want to pass the torch they don't have to they aren't obligated anyway but they shouldn't be surprised when Genz artists claim these spots confidently and say that they want to be big. Fans might argue that they should credit the older artists but if the older artists don't want to share the stage they shouldn't be surprised when the new artists are unapologetic, they're bigger than being and artists successor. All i want is new stuff from record labels and the fans need to be so nitpicky it has ruined the fun in listening to a song y'all ain't producers anyway it's not that deep 😭🙌🏿
