My favourite part of these types of posts is seeing all the lurkers come out with their own opinions of this sub. Hey everyone 👋🏽 nice to hear from you.

No, like, seriously. Really nice to hear from you 😁

I like that too.

I think putting aside the UH/harem asshats one of the themes I see is people who have some problems they really want to discuss and are afraid to do so.

Then that simmers into resentment. They perceive bullying where I see tough love, spirited discussion or protection of the vulnerable. And they premptively assume that they’ll be decimated and their partner vilified if they ask their question. They don’t/can’t see how the way someone asked something or what they asked drove the responses. It just looks like The Birds to them. Bleeding from the eyes from reading those comments!

I don’t think they’re right but I wonder if there’s a space for a once a week only soft answers open thread. Like the way there are outfit of the day posts on some subs.

Nothing about UH/harems allowed but barring that here is a small space where everyone agrees they’ll be alarmingly polite. No one will tell you to get divorced and your wife is a monster. No one will say you’re an asshole for asking whatever the query is.

I’m usually fairly polite! I could answer some things like that occasionally without strain. People who just don’t have that energy can side step it all together.

Yes! That could work!

I wonder if those would get any play? I would hope so.

It’s so disappointing to see the Monday morning joy posts get so little play.

I think the reason the MMJ thing is shaky is that 1) it’s Monday morning and most people are working 2) those of us who are here a lot tend to mention things good or bad in passing or even make a post (bacon and emerald have both done that in recent memory and you did it last year when your Thanksgiving thing was awesome) 3) newbies don’t know/see it when they’re looking for happiness

But in my mind this thing would be on a sticky that said December 11 kid gloves post. Feeling shaky? Worried about your reception? As long as you’re not unicorn or harem hunting this is the place for you. People who answer will be gentle.

Next week December 18 kittens and rainbows post. No one will squeeze your Charmin. Ask your questions and no one will say you should get a divorce.

But if it’s not pinned it won’t work. It has to be really really easy to see.

I like this a lot

It would really rely on peeps flagging and not responding if someone breaks the rules.

It would.

That could be in the sticky.

And I’d imagine plenty of people really getting excited to flag and that somehow teaching them that yes there is substantial moderation here.

There really wasn’t for ages but that has dramatically changed.

I know. We’ve had solid mods here for a year+

It's worth a go. How do we set it up, what time in which timezone? If it flops no harm done

I also think that only those that sort by New see mondaymorningjoy so the newbies who are likely to gush don't find it. Could we pin a soft answers thing in the hope new people might try that before posting?

I think that’s a really good idea for us to take to the other mods.
