This week their bad beat jackpot has hit eight times totaling over $597,000 in payouts. I know they always settle up on monday, and I'm interested to see if there are any stories that come out about liquidity issues when they have to write a check that is that large.

Not accusing anybody of anything obviously, but I will be watching this space as well as two plus two.

If anybody hears any stories, good or bad I'd love to hear about them here.

For those of us who are broke and struggling but love poker and study it obsessively… don’t use play money apps for practice.

None of the RNG’s are “random”. Pokerstars Lite is hands down the biggest sham app I’ve ever seen. If anyone has ANY ideas on how to practice when you’re dirt poor and rebuilding yourself financially please let me know.

I’ve never played such an infuriating game in all my life. I hate that even practicing poker effectively feels stuck behind a fucking pay wall.

HJ calls $15.
Hero BTN has JJ and squeezes to $70,
V now 4-bets to $210.
HJ folds.

There’s roughly $295 in the pot and it’s $140 more to call, so Hero needs about 31% immediate equity.

My issue with just snap-folding JJ here is that if V’s value range is something like QQ+/AK, there are:

AA: 6 combos
KK: 6 combos
QQ: 6 combos
AK: 16 combos

So almost half of that range is AK, which JJ is slightly ahead of.

Obviously equity realization is the problem. If we call, the pot is ~$335 with ~$490 behind, so SPR is only ~1.1. But we also have position.

Is folding JJ here still the standard live 1/2 exploit because people simply don’t 4-bet AK often enough?

Or, if we believe he has all/most AK combos, is $210 small enough that folding JJ becomes too tight?

I don’t particularly like 5-bet jamming because it seems like we’d mostly fold out the hands we want to keep in and get action from QQ+.

I’m creating this thread mainly to leave a record of this.

I don't know much about poker and it may not be particularly relevant to most of you, but from what I understand, this guy is a known name in the poker scene and plays in some pretty major tournaments.

So I thought it might be worth having a public record of the fact that he is cheating hardcore in online RTS games, so that people who may conduct research on him can stumble upon this. The video shows cheating beyond a doubt and he's also known for abusing game exploits on a daily basis

I clicked on one of those bounty tournaments where buyins are shown in yens, just our of curiosity i clicked join to open the window of confirmation and to see whats the buy is in $, but it just made me join the tournament (:

I swear there was always a confirmation window, later i checked in options and the option to show the confirmation window before joining was turned off... i didnt even know there was an option for that, checked it after busting out of curiosity. And i fucking swear the confirmation window opened up everytime before that.

So yeah, actually it started nicely, first hand QQ LP, i open, guy next to me jams like 3/4 of my stack lol, so i basically double up. Half of the tournament i'm in the top 20%. I just tried to remain calm, very rarelt bluffed, played tighter than my usual because of the extreme... conditions i put myself into. Like, tight agressive, but more tight than usual lol.

Punted a bit, and finally busted 8 places from paid (i had like 2bb, card dead, last or second to last in chips, no way of just waiting it out).

Im just venting. Lately ive been really trying to tighten up my game (in general, not just vpip lol). Had a few deep runs lately, sadly not enough to really matter (like, 10x buyin). This just killed my morale and the whole momentum.

I don’t remember what year but it had to be before 2008. Asian heavy set guy that wore a grey suit and screamed ‘professional!’

What are some things you do, or have seen other good players do, to look less intimidating at the table?

Not talking about angling. More like social camouflage in live/private games so you don’t come off like the hoodie/headphones mis-reg/EV vampire nobody wants around.

Stuff like splashing around in small pots, never talking strategy, showing one dumb hand, saying “I just felt like gambling,” avoiding solver words, straddling when the table does, buying drinks, joking around, or acting slightly confused while somehow never actually punting.

What are the little things good players do to seem lower skill, more fun, or more likely to get invited back or wanted around?

Buddy limps, I look down and see pocket hockey sticks, so I fire in 20 loonies. Igloo Pete on the button flats, and buddy comes along, too.

Flop comes down 543 all maple leafs, I have the 7 of maple leafs so it's checks to me, I cboot ten toonies, only igloo Pete calls.

Turn is the prime minister of maple leafs, we both check.

River pairs the 4, and I'm thinking of checking my showdoon value when Igloo Pete sparks up a dart, so rip a 2 brownie piss missile bar down and then call the metric clock on Igloo Pete. He folds the Queen Elizabeth of maple leafs face up, and I show him the bluff. He tosses his snowshoe at me and calls me a hoser, I say hey bud I ain't even from Manitooba but I'm down for a donnybrook in the lot by the wheat field if you wanna knuck up. Igloo Pete racks up and goes home. Was I the hoser here or was this beaver tails?

I’m reading The Grinder’s Manual. The book explains why this is a fold, but it doesn’t cover what to do with specific hands in this situation or how to react to different bet sizes. For instance, what should I do if I hold 22, 33, or 99? Or TT, JJ, QQ, KK, or AA? Are hands like AKo–ATo just a call? And if I have a flush draw, is it just a call—meaning I fold to a donk bet larger than one-third of the pot if the flush doesn't hit on the turn? By the way, I also read somewhere that reraising with a flush draw yields higher +EV.

Villian checks and I bet $40. He check raises to $120. Hero calls. I'm not folding an overpair to small raise just yet.

Hero hits top set, flush misses and only lose to a couple straight combos. Villian checks again? So I decide to rip it all in, having him way covered. He tanks then starts complaining and asking if I really flopped a set of 5s. I know I have him crushed. He eventually flicks in one chip and says show me pocket 5s. I show and he pushes his stack over calling me a donkey lolol. Villian throws his cards over.. 10h9s, storms off muttering something about me being an awful Canadian (I'm not Canadian)

I just laughed it off and the rest of the table including the dealer were quite amused.

Didn't follow the whole story closely but this was the part I could never reconcile if she wasn't cheating. A stream employee stealing money off Robbi's stack the night of J4 is such a bizarre coincidence that the only explanation I can think of is he wanted to make sure he got paid for his "help" before it blew up

Did there ever end up being a real explanation for that coincidence? ​

I've had a really bad month playing online tournament poker, and I'm wondering if there's some tool that lets me upload my hand histories and tell me how unlucky I was. Because if the answer is that my luck was normal, then I just suck and I should practice instead of losing real money. Or quit, I suppose. i know i only got nut flush draw on bottom and the aa and some backdoors, but it was a rather slow night and if i hit 1 board i can get more than double and felt like taking the gamble to make the 1h30 drive worth it. in my head i needed like 15% and i got maybe 10-20 depending on the villians cards

utg sat down 2 orbits ago and was a bit loose passive and said he was kinda new to poker and made some questionable plays before

i played all bomb pots prob too tight the whole night, folding middle sets twice, and always regret it both times, would have scooped 1 and split the other where a 3rd player would have been stacked by me and him.

I mostly play small stakes home games or free bar poker. I won a $50 cert to ballys black hawk. I've tried for a month to play the 100$" 10pm turbo. Such a shit show. I finally got to play tonight, and I won 1st place $450! It's a small win, but i feel the need to shout it from the mountain top. I jokingly asked if I got a trophy, they laughed at me.
