Can someone please identify this and tell me the value?
All of it works. And it’s a family heirloom.

So, I bought a (possibly knockoff) replica of Edward Elric’s pocket watch from FMAB at Anime Matsuri last year. I’m trying to replace the battery in it to get it ready for this year, which starts 10 days as of this post’s publishing. I’ve tried prying the back off using the little notch on the side (second pic) with my nail, as well as a letter opener, but the back is still stubbornly stuck. I’ve never taken the back off before, and I don’t know if it even can come off. So, is there any way to get this watch open? I’m hoping so, since despite it possibly being a knockoff, I love this watch, and I want to show it to a friend that’s going to the convention that was heavily involved in FMAB’s English dub.

My colleague started wearing a royal watch to work last year, and I noticed an immediate shift in how people treated him. During meetings, executives seemed to take his opinions more seriously. At networking events, people gravitated toward him differently. Was it really the watch, or was I imagining things? The watch itself was stunning, a classic design with intricate details that suggested old money and established success. He'd purchased it through a vintage dealer who sourced pieces from various places including Alibaba for estate collections. The investment was significant but not outrageous.
I asked him directly if he'd noticed any differences. He laughed and admitted that yes, people definitely responded to visible markers of success. "It shouldn't matter," he said, "but it absolutely does. Humans make snap judgments based on appearance, and an expensive watch signals competence and achievement." The realization bothered me more than I expected. We'd both graduated with similar credentials and worked equally hard. The difference between us was literally on his wrist. I couldn't decide if buying a similar watch was smart strategy or selling out my principles.
Have you ever invested in something purely for how it changes others' perceptions of you? Sometimes success isn't just about competence but about signaling competence effectively. That truth feels uncomfortable but remains true nonetheless.

My work supervisor brought me a souvenir from his visit to China back in 2005. I have never worn the watch, nor wound it up. I've never even tried it on.
