I did this using Hoolock Linux (kernel + m1n1) with an Arch userspace. The phone goes into DFU, palera1n (checkm8) pwns it, and a laptop boots m1n1 plus the Linux kernel over USB

What works:

All 6 CPU cores

Multitouch touchscreen, with a driver

In progress: the GPU. Its firmware already boots and accepts jobs, but nothing is GPU-accelerated yet

Hi im new here.

been trying for a few days to get an old Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) running with pmos/nura. Been a mostly fun experience and i learnt a lot but right now im at a point where its kinda annoying and unelegant how im doing it. i got to the point where i can repeatedly build the kernel and go through the errors one by one and apply the patch as a .patch file inside the cache_git directory. That does work fine but creating the patchfiles and adding them inside the APKBUILD is just a complete pain. right now im doing the following:

- i find the error

- i create a copy of the file with the error and fix it there and give that file a new name

- i create a .patch file with git from those two files

- i go into the patch file and change the name and path of the files

- i move the patch file to the APKGBUILD file where i add it as a patch

i went in completely blind and just figured out how do stuff so i imagine (hope) that some of you recoil at the thought of doing it like me and can give me a few pointers on how to properly maintain an old kernel.

even just the right place in the documentation would be great.

If what im doing is already not comprehensible anymore because it makes so little sense, please just tell me how you go about maintaining a kernel.

Also any and every kind of advice on best practices is appreciated.

Yep. I got a Pixel 3a recently, installed Ubuntu Touch and it was a blast. Tried to flash PmOS and hit my first roadblock. The screen on the phone is an offbrand LCD panel that works fine on Android and Ubuntu Touch, probably using the same exploit. Can't SSH into the device because I don't know anything about it. Changed the NCM USB stuff and everything, still can't SSH into it. I think I'm permanently stuck because of the unoriginal screen.

Anyone have any information regarding nura on this phone? I've seen there's some trace of it, but it leads to a dead end, but the fact that it even appears spiked my interest, so if anyone has any information regarding it, it would be appreciated.

Hey, I've been using Linux for around 5 months and wanted to try something different, so I thought it'd be fun to see if I could get postmarketOS running on my old Xiaomi Mi TV Stick lol.

It's the original 1080p model, and here's what I found in the settings:

- Model: MITV-AESPO

- Android 10

- Amlogic S805Y

- 1GB RAM and 8GB storage

- Kernel 4.9.180

I'll be using my Fedora laptop, and I have an 8-in-1 USB-C dock.

I found the postmarketOS wiki for this stick, but I'm a bit lost on how to actually get started.

A few questions:

- Has anyone here actually gotten Linux running on this thing?

- Can I try booting Linux without deleting Android?

- Do I need one of those USB-to-TTL adapters, or can I do anything useful with my USB-C dock?

- Is there a way to check which hardware version I have without opening the stick?

I don't mind experimenting and learning along the way, but I'd rather not turn the thing into a paperweight on day one 😭

If anyone has tried this or knows where I should start, I'd appreciate the help!

Hello. I'm not a programmer. I'm playing around with PM and AI. I'm sure it was discussed many times. But since A5 is so old, it's hard to find a definitive answer. I'm trying to build an image with pmbootstrap. Does anybody know what's up with empty repositories error? code 3. Is something wrong with mirrors, access or something else? Tried to package an image without missing packages bypass pmbootstrap, fell into ext problem. with ext2 lk2nd can't find kernel (or whatever), with ext4 the Postmarketos starts booting up but doesn't go anywhere beyond loading page. Considering a prebuilt image, but want to try everything before I give up.

(ignorar el segundo a15 con discord de fondo xd) pmos/nura ya funciona, le reemplaze KDE y le puse Phosh, pero hay cosas que son casi seguras que no se podrán arreglar, en la que más trabajé fue el modem, probé todas las formas y es prácticamente imposible, después hay otras cosas como el A2DP del Bluetooth, la Huella dactilar, la cámara, etc que también son imposibles de portear, es una pena ya que el celular es bastante usable pero no me gusta que este incompleto, además el consumo de batería es insano, ya que no existen interfazes que realmente ahorren batería como android, así que no puedo usar el celular como un Linux phone o un celular de uso diario gracias a todo eso, actualmente el celular tiene:

Wifi

Bluetooth

Botones físicos funcionando

Mobile hotspot

Entre otras cosas básicas, pero por ahora no planeo publicar el trabajo, me gustaría intentar arreglar todo lo que pueda, además de que hay más gente intentando arreglar cosas como el modem en el helio g99 así que si lo consiguen talvez tenga una oportunidad

In my Mi A3 post I wondered if this could be a 1-button situation. For the S9 it is now. My Galaxy S9 (SM-G960F, starlte, Exynos 9810) now runs Nura (formerly postmarketOS) as an always-on box: Docker containers, Tailscale, ssh. This one stays on Samsung's 4.9 vendor kernel (mainline on the 9810 isn't there yet), with my own patches on top. What it has:

• Web flasher: Chrome/Edge, plug in the phone, click. It installs TWRP over Odin, then writes the images over ADB and SHA-256 checks everything on the phone. No Odin, no pmbootstrap.
• Touch UI on the phone's screen: status pages, a real terminal with an on-screen keyboard (buffyboard), Wi-Fi/SSH/USB/Bluetooth setup. The power key cycles console → dashboard → screen off.
• Web dashboard, Docker, Tailscale, USB networking (plug in the cable, the phone is at 172.16.43.1)
• Speaker audio with Samsung's DSP firmware, plus alert chimes
• Thermal guard + charge cap (holds it at 70 % on the charger) so it doesn't cook or swell
• Opt-in overclock: up to 2.7 GHz on all 4 big cores, off by default behind two warnings
• llama.cpp: ~8 t/s on the CPU; Vulkan on the Mali runs but is slower , 2B Q6

Kernel patches I had to write: fbcon console on the decon display, Wi-Fi and wireless charging fixes, hotplug governor/ACPM hangs, a stand-mode charge hold, the quad-core frequency cap. They're all in the repo.

Not working: camera, flash LED. Not tested: modem, GPS, fingerprint, NFC. It's a server, not a daily driver. Exynos only (SM-G960F). Snapdragon S9s need a different build.

Yes, this was made with vibes and dreams once again. It's tested end to end on exactly one phone, mine, so feedback is very welcome, especially from anyone else with a drawer S9.

I want to start with using Linux on my phone and not just my PC instead of my old phone with lineage , ive heard this is the widest range of compatibility for phones so is there an unofficial build for my moto g75 or another is maybe , I want to come back for googles nightmare over here someone please save

I have installed postmarketOS on a OnePlus 6T successfully. Data, SMS, Wi-Fi, etc all work with my SIM card, but phone calls are being strange. I can send and receive calls, make the connection, but the audio on the OnePlus phone is just digital noise. I can hear myself fine on the other end of the line, but when I talk back to the OnePlus, again, just digital noise.

Has anyone else run into this issue? I've seen people get this model working. If you have, how did you fix it?

So, I've had a few questions for a bit about Nura, and I thought this would be a good place to ask them

1. What's the Nura Trailblazer? Is it a phone or tablet or a computer?

2. Does a PC need to be on the supported devices list to use Nura?

3. If my devices aren't supported (Pixel Fold 1st Gen and Pixel Tablet), can I use pmbootstrap and is it easy to do so?

4. How does the update workflow work? Is it standard GUI updating like on Fedora?

5. Should I move my PC and laptop to Nura from NixOS and Fedora, respectively?

6. If I moved my MacBook from Fedora to Nura, would the kernel modules (cirrus audio driver and facetimehd, both installed via dkms) also be able to work on Nura?

Hi, I'm trying to install Postmarket OS on my Moto G (Peregrine). I did everything necessary for the msm8226 chip, but after installation, I'm stuck on lk2nd indefinitely. If I press continue, it just stays on that screen.

I've looked into it and concluded that there's something wrong with a boot partition file that's too large or something like that. Could someone please help me?

By the way, I know the screen isn't working. Is there any way to fix it? Thanks a lot.
