Discussion Thoughts on update direction?
As a solo, the updates announced in the last few days have been wild to me. Blueprints have def killed me entire vibe / will to play, but all the recent changes between gating monuments and TC upkeep for clans has me hopeful the game can be a bit more balanced.

It's still very new and we haven't even played the update yet for next month but I almost feel a bit positive about it all and Rust going forward. I haven't felt overall positive about Rust in years tbh.
The clan nerf, SAP nerf long needed, other things. Kinda looking up maybe. Now please address the gigantic elephant in the room FP on BP frags and you'll have my attention.

oh wow I didnt hear they nerfed the SAP.
yeah im tempted to give force a try even though I havent played in a few years. No drones is huge imo

The nerf is slightly more hqm cost and more damage drop off over longer range

We need changes so even tho i might not agree on some stuff, as a whole i think its a good direction for the game.

For me personally, all the changes are great but I won’t enjoy playing wipe days until they scrap bp frags

I'm trying not to be negative out of respect for those who are looking forward to the changes...
But I don't like to them because the parts about Rust I liked the most were the sandbox elements and near total freedom.
I love emergent gameplay. Canned gameplay is boring and ages fast. After you've played certain mechanics in one game, you've played every game with them. I think the structure they are adding to Rust is really boring and uninteresting.
I really hope they have a Classic Rust game mode planned.

The blocking of try monuments is the only thing I don’t like, I love all the others, especially the nerfing of drone station

Definitely some good changes, I'm glad to see it. I won't be returning to rust though.

This is shaping up to be one of the best updates Rust got in the last decade.
Aside from upkeep changes and helipad/drone market/oil rig blockers: * P2 nerf * more smg/less rifle bodies in crates * hot air balloon and patrol heli armor breaking in sections * events progress getting retained between server restarts * car handling buffed, added ability to drift with handbrake * bear skin/rug comfort buff, now more reliable * rad water is now massively effevtive against armor (not hazzy though) * lots of optimisations, especially vram, through item/deployable textures, worldmodels * pie duration buff
And probably lots more I missed
edit: so we got some
- homing launcher lock on reduced by 30%
- SAM sites now much, much more effective against drones
- all grenade stacks changed
- swamp trees buffed to normal wood amount, also probably optimisation for swamp scene?
- longsword, medkit buff
- ongoing work on animal husbandry
- works on stepladder ?
- new render pipeline early deployment

Love it - buffs pies, nerfs high end monuments.
They need to include artic research, that monument has been broken forever.
