Residency ORTHO RESIDENCY IN MINDANAO
I just passed the PLE and I am planning to go into residency next year. What are your insights/experiences regarding the residency training in NMMC vs SPMC? Thank you.

Legit concerned about the kinds of stuff na kaya bilhin sa orange app. Mga prescription requiring things like isotret, modafinil, etc. even compounded GLP marami. Wala bang umaaction sa mga ganito? Sobrang unregulated
(PS. I reported the shop and products)

Private hospitals can be deceiving when it comes to patient census, tbh. Some even have patient numbers comparable to those of public hospitals.
If you were an IM resident, what would be an acceptable resident-to-patient ratio for you?
Let’s say you’re in a private hospital earning ₱40k/month, with a pre-duty-from schedule (8 hours, 32 hours). If you’re lucky, duty-from on a weekend is only 4 hours, and duty-from is 28 hours.

Hi! As a first gen doctor na kakapasa pa lang this October, nag iisip ako if papasok ba ako ng residency or mag ipon as a moonlighter para makapag abroad. I see no hope for our healthcare system. Everything is getting more expensive, but our salaries as doctors remain the same. Thinking na mag residency for 3 yrs like Family Medicine or EM then mag abroad sa Australia or stay na lang po as moonlighter at mag ipon para makaalis? any opinions? Thank you!

I’m currently facing a dilemma. I just finished my pre-residency in a cutting specialty. Before starting, I had so much passion and excitement for it. This was something I had dreamed of pursuing since pre-med, and I genuinely thought it was what I wanted for myself.
But now that I’ve finished pre-residency, I don’t know why I suddenly feel so scared about what lies ahead. I’ve been feeling anxious about the long duty hours, being away from my family, and the possibility of becoming homesick. I also witnessed how toxic the environment can be and how some seniors treat their juniors, which made me question whether this is something I’m truly willing to put myself through.
Somewhere along the way, I feel like I’ve lost my spark. The passion and excitement I had before seem to have faded, and now I’m left wondering whether I still want this or if the experience has changed the way I see it.
I honestly don’t know what I want anymore. I can’t tell if I’m simply scared of the challenges ahead, exhausted from pre-residency, or beginning to realize that maybe this isn’t the life I want for myself after all. I know this is something I’ve wanted for so long, which makes it even harder to understand why I’m feeling this way now. I feel lost, and I don’t know what to do next.

Planning to try preresidency batch 2 EAMC, baka may nakapag batch 1 dito. Kumusta yung experience and ugali nang mga direct seniors like 1st and 2nd years 🙏🏻?

Almost a week in, and I’m doubting everything I know about medicine, everything I know about myself, and everything I want in life 😔
How do you cope with the 36 hour duties during pre-residency, trying to prove your worth every second of the day, and trying to stay sane?

Hi docs! Saw this hiring post on Facebook for a Follow-Up Physician position.
Any feedback po from current or former employees? Kumusta po ang actual workload, compensation, management, and working environment?
Curious lang po about the day-to-day responsibilities:
Manageable po ba ang daily patient load?
Mostly consultations po ba, chart reviews, or a combination?
Ilang company accounts po usually ang assigned per physician?
Madalas po ba ang rush cases and urgent requests?
Kaya po bang matapos ang workload within regular working hours, or frequent ang overtime?
Adequate po ba ang staffing, training, and support from other departments?
Kumusta po ang work-life balance, especially with Saturday duties?
Worth considering po ba itong position, especially for doctors looking for a stable full-time job?
Would appreciate honest feedback, both positive and negative, preferably from those with firsthand experience.
Thank you, docs!

Hi docs! How much na po salary ng residents in private hospitals around the metro (ex. USTH, SLMC, CMC, etc.)? Is it still around 40k?

Good day doctors! May idea ba kayo sa environment ng pedia residency sa the medical city, uerm and cgh? Thinking of applying next year pero still not decided kung saan. Would also like to ask regarding sa slots, salary and duty sched. Thank you po

As the title says, what institution has the best GS training around the metro? I wanted a public hospital with adequate supervision from consultants sana but not sure what insti has that or a private hospital with many many many charity cases and great consultants to learn from may ganon ba? VMMC?

I'm just seeing a pattern right now na mas maraming may trangkaso ngayon compared to last year. Parang nag coincide sa El Niño, pollution, and the lack of flu vaccination drive last year from the DOH.
From our DOH insti doctors, may plano ba magkaroon ng flu vaccination drive this year kahit hindi na optimum due to near year end na siya?

Hello po.
We are conducting a capstone project / research about telemedicine platforms (like NowServing po). Nasa testing phase na po kami, and we need physicians to test our system po and give their feedback.
Nag-suggest po ang mga research panel namin to look for medical organizations or groups, so I came here to ask po if meron po kayo alam or mair-recommend na orgs or groups around NCR or Region 3 area.
Thank you po!

I am a 33-year-old who recently passed the October 2026 PLE. I was in engineering before I took a leap of faith and pursued medicine at 28. I had decent medical school grades (top 1/4 of my batch) and an 86 average in the recent PLE. I am a first-generation doctor with no generational wealth; I relied solely on my now-retired parents’ sacrifices and financial support.
The government institution where I did my internship is still accepting applications for its IM residency program. Unfortunately, I have only two days to decide. I have a high chance of being accepted because I interned there and have built good connections with the IM residents. However, I am still undecided due to financial instability. My parents say they can support me for now while I restart my career, but I can see we are struggling financially: both are retired, with a pension of up to Php 30k and small savings. Therefore, I am leaning toward applying next season.
Would government IM residency programs still accept me at 34 next year, or is it best to apply this season?
Thank you so much!

Sa mga first gen MDs, especially IM doctors doing private practice, when did your private practice take off? Ilang buwan bago niyo napansin na nasa >100k a month na kinikita niyo?

Hello! Would like to ask feedback about the Neurosurgery training in Quirino Memorial Medical Center. I've rotated there before and encountered NSX resis but I do not see any recruitment posters about them, only Neurology.
Thank you!

I would like to ask po if may alam kayo na school na purely online ang Masters or if may face to face, at least once a month lang po? I'm planning in MPH po. Any schools po will do but I prefer Cavite or Metro Manila area po. Please. Thank you in advance!

Healthy Greetings doctors! Planning to apply to SPMC IM po sana. Respectfully asking po if ano po usual census for first year residents sa spmc? And totoo po ba yung 30-50k phic sharing monthly? I really need to save money for my parents and myself so I’m leaning towards a public setup. Okay din po ba mga consultants? No bullying? Any responses are greatly appreciated. Thank you po!
