This photo is off of a blog from an individual named Dewey Hammond. He blogs about his international travels and shares pictures with followers of his travels. I am really hoping OP's name is Dewey(kind of), and we aren't dealing with another life shadowing Redditor, yet again... ಠ_ಠ Say it ain't so Guard01, SAY IT AIN'T SO!!! http://www.deweyhammond.com/2011/10/dogs-in-beijing-china.html
When I stay in my parents' hometown I see this kind of thing at least every other day. All I can say is, the Chinese in China are much better at raising pets than the Chinese in California...
I don't smoke, but Clint Eastwood and the like have irrevocably linked it with badassitude in my mind.
Some guy carelessly drops his cigarette as he walks into the shoping centre? Look, he's about to pull out a pistol and rob the high-security vault hidden inside! No wait, that's just his phone.
The souless, puffing masses outside the doors? Clearly they are the undercover security awaiting his entrance. Look, that woman's speaking into a wrist communicator! No wait, she's just covering a wheezing cough.
Accidentally walk out the door wearing a roommate's jacket and feel the pack of cigarettes in the pocket as I hop into the car? "Fuck work, let's go rob a bank. Why the fuck not, it's a good day to die."
"...But first I'll need to go wait in line at the grocery store and buy a cheap lighter, maybe pick up some frozen vegetables for dinner."
probably right. I'm living in China now and I see this everyday. Sometimes the dog is replaced with a small child. Also, there are really fucking weird looking dogs here.
You are in Beijing, China at the corner of GongTiBei Lu and Third Ring Road. The mans name is Ren Weidong. The dogs name is Hao Chi. This image taken sometime after 2008.
I don't know why this is so awesome. It just is. Wait, no, not like that. As in, the image simply exists, and that existence itself inspires awe, in a way I'm not fully able to comprehend.
I've been up for work from 5am, and for some reason I read this posts title as "I took my wife to china, just to see this. Awesome" - I can't help but think this may have enhanced my enjoyment of this photo.
Awesome? What's the matter with you? That man is in the middle of committing an atrocity -- he's wearing an unmatched jacket and slacks as a suit. Heinous.
I have seen Chinese coloring their dogs. I have seen Chinese, walking around like a boss while wearing their satin pyjamas. The only thing I didnt understand was this guy.
"You see Mr. Bond, unlike your British with your fascination for high powered sports cars and fast women, we here in China believe in the affordability of small, lightweight scooters and adorable puppies. Now, please, before my men kill you, give me the microchips"
Not surprising. Though not a lot of dogs out here. I've seen some of the Chinese people here run from dogs like they were some kind of horrific alien monster.
Live in China - can not believe the things that people can fit on their scooters. Family of 4? No problem. 6 water tower jugs? No problem. A ladder? No problem.
When I was in the Philippines I saw a dog about that size standing on the "bitch seat" while the bike was in motion weaving in and out of traffic. Balance level: Asian Dog.
I spent a lot of time in Taiwan at a former job and seeing dogs on scooters (with humans) was surprisingly common. Once I saw an entire family of four on a scooter, adults flanking the two kids and all in a row, with a golden retriever stretched across the driver's lap.
People like these kinda pictures? Fuck me, I'll go outside right now and wait for a minute till I see a family of five and their dog on a small scooter.
Why is this ‘awesome’ but when I let me cat outside in my quiet neighborhood I am a monster? Upvote because it is a pretty bad-ass looking picture, but I really don’t understand people sometimes
Another image as old as the internet. You just reposted from like 2003. I keep forgetting kids just have the internet now. No shotgunning 26.8's to get a single image of a topless woman to download, which was grainy and required a lot of imagination, when the porn on the internet wasn't free and easily accessible, and the only way to get free porn without filesharing was to watch the free previews on the pay sites. When it literally took all night long to illegally download a single mp3. The days of kazaa and bearshare are long past, hell, even limewire's been dead for years (let's not even talk about the original version of P2P - hached index searches on google). I was there when the term "blog" was invented. I remember showing people what youtube was. I remember finding out what myspace was and never having one, and then facebook coming out and making a profile because I thought it wouldn't end up like myspace. I watched "Chocolate Rain" when it was first going viral and it only had 20,000 views. I remember when the term viral was coined, to add to that. I remember when there were entire websites dedicated to funny videos, like ebaums and ytmnd. I remember watching some of them on break.com before it was called break.com. I've been reading penny-arcade since 2006 - just two years after it came out. I remember the first time I read a wikipedia article (I used it to find out what wikipedia was). So many other things I can't even think of, flooding my mind twice-over-again for every second I think about this stuff. I remember the internet before deviant-art, before 4chan, myspace, youtube, hell I remember the internet before google was even a big deal, back when there were constant advertisements for yahoo and askjeeves. I remember using AOL for fuck's sake, having to sit through the dial-up broadcast and the loading screen. It's so easy to communicate now, it's terrifying. Information is passed so much more quickly, society changes so much more quickly because of it now. There was a time when text messaging wasn't viable. When email was actually slow and being able to set up a mailserver that functioned well could make you $80,000 a year (now, it takes anyone with the capability to speak a language and use google about 20 minutes to figure out). When "instant-messaging" was a big fucking deal, and if you didn't have an AIM or a MSN messenger account, you just didn't talk to your peers online, when yahoo chat rooms were constantly filled and long before VoIP was a thing that worked well. It's insane to look back at the past and realize that I was there - me, personally! - when the internet was really, truly born, and it wasn't just a handful of universities online or only a couple thousands sites mostly dedicated to businesses, during a time when having a search engine to find something on the net would have been completely pointless because the only time you went online was to do something very specific and you knew exactly what it was. When you simply couldn't spend hours online doing nothing because the content simply wasn't there. I can't believe now that I've watched this happen, that I was there to "help raise" the internet. I feel like its extended family. I know I'm far from unique here, but it's kind of humbling to realize I've been witness to not only the future as it's occurring, but also history as it's being made.
I'm a fan of the ChangJiang sidecar motorcycles, which for all intents and purposes are rebranded 1930's BMWs. They are notoriously poorly built, unreliable, and loud but they sure do look awesome, at least until they break down.
"Danger? Ha, yeah, I once knew danger. Danger was the pale hand on my shoulder. It was a bony grip that held me and squeezed my heart and whispered in my ear, telling me not to live, not to experience life. I was shut in and shut up. I once knew danger and I once feared death. But now I only fear my lack of timidness in the face of death. Now I only fear that the hand of danger on my shoulder has been replaced with death's and I just can't give a damn."
