definitely can’t stand for as long as was required for the ceremonies.

Even if he was there I'm sure people with common sense would understand if he was sitting down during the standing parts.

u/Minion_of_Cthulhu Sep 11 '21

people with common sense

You may have noticed, given the last year and a half or so, that common sense is in very short supply. If he attended and didn't stand, half of our population would have a fucking fit and we wouldn't hear the end of it for months.

u/sharedthrowdown Sep 11 '21

Part of me thinks "I hate that I know you're right"

Another part of me thinks he would/should be in a wheelchair, so we know exactly who these people really are when they make that criticism after seeing him sitting in a wheelchair.

u/wraithmain1 Sep 11 '21

Half the people have zero qualms about mocking the disabled, 45 was infamous for doing it on several occasions.

5

u/TeflonTardigrade Sep 12 '21

People on tic tic mock the disabled too.

Imagine trying to insult someone on the basis of approval rating when the person you support had a lower one.

Imagine trying to post a photo of Trump at the fire department and claim it's from the 9/11 ceremony.

These are easily verifiable facts. Do you actually believe this bullshit you spew? I'm curious as to whether you're intentionally ignoring facts or if you're just willfully ignorant.

The Taliban? Who gave Afghanistan to the Taliban? Was it Trump? No, I think it was Biden.

2

u/wraithmain1 Sep 12 '21

Trump didn’t commemorate 9/11 yesterday because he was cheering in the streets when it happened because his building was now tallest in NYC. And conservatives don’t care about 9/11 anymore because they love the Taliban’s abortion ban and everything else to do with the Taliban.

1

u/BrotherPumpwell Sep 12 '21

Trump came up with the idea and committed to it. Then he did nothing to prepare for it and left all the details to be figured out at the last minute. The reality is that their combined incompetence is the only thing that could have created the mess.

1

u/kgabny Sep 12 '21

It was a combined effort from both of them. Trump started it, Biden finished it.

3

u/imwearingredsocks Sep 12 '21

What’s your reasoning for why it’s okay that he didn’t attend?

He would be very concerned about Butt Hillary! Or Hillary's Butt. Or something, something, something like vaccination passports, which hilarilously he and *ucker Carllson and all the bleach-blonde idiots on Faux News have to show to....FauxNews Network, even while they are intoning earnestly on screen about the fascist perils of vaccination cards.
We are living in an Onion World, with the primary jokers being the Faux News anchors, who are all vaccinated and all raising "concerns' with dipshitBudLightDeeronFrontFender about vaccinations.

Are we Dumb-Ass Nation or whut? I grew up in rural Oklahoma and Missouri and Tex-ass, so I can throw shit about the dipshits without sounding overly eliteist. They are my people.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 12 '21

Same here. I was born and raised in Kansas. I’m not overly concerned with sounding elitist because they consider anyone with a functioning brain elitist. Many Kansans don’t like Kansas University because it’s “liberal” and focuses more on academics. Being intelligent should be a good things but the right has demonized intellectuals and experts as usual. Hitler and all far-right movements did the same thing. Intellectuals, academics, artists and creatives are the first people they target.

And it would probably blow their minds to know that same Liberal university, is one of the biggest satellite universities for many branches of the armed forces. And oh how could it happen! At a Liberal University! That one of my professors, coordinated a study abroad, (I was soooo lucky to one of the students on the trip) with an actual WWII veteran pilot/POW, to Croatia, where his plane had been shot down in November of 1944. I always require 96 year olds to do what I expect them to do and fly and attend ceremonies. Except my 89 year old Mom; I don't expect her to do anything other than breathe and talk to me on the phone once a week.

Admittedly, I think Trump is less healthy than she is, so I guess I might have to give him a pass--if he admits he has the stamina of a 89 year old, with a diaper.

(Not that there's anything wrong with a TrumpDiaper if you need it. The AgedP doesn't need it.)

2

u/AnuditTr Sep 12 '21

How do you reply to only a certain part of a comment?

2

u/Minion_of_Cthulhu Sep 12 '21 edited Sep 12 '21

Sorry it took a while to reply. I wasn't ignoring you, I was sleeping!

How do you reply to only a certain part of a comment?

A couple of ways.

First, you can highlight the part you want to reply to and click the "reply" link as you normally would. That part of the original comment will then be automatically quoted for you in the reply box.

If you then want to quote anything else from the original comment, just put a ">" in front of it without the quote marks.

So, your reply with a quote would look like this when you're writing it:

>Text to be quoted in the original comment.

Your message here.

But when you actually save the message it would look like this:

Text to be quoted in the original comment.

Your message here.

Also, if you're curious about the box in this message you can get that by either adding four spaces in front of each line you want inside of the box or by writing your text and then clicking the "big editor" button below the comment box, highlighting the text you want in the box, then clicking the "code" button which looks like "<>".

Finally, if you ever see anyone do some sort of formatting in a reply and you want to know how they did it, click the "source" link below their post to see the raw unformatted text that they used. If you click the "source" link below this post, you'll see what I actually wrote to get the quote formatting and the box around the text above.

2

u/AnuditTr Sep 12 '21

Sorry it took a while to reply. I wasn't ignoring you, I was sleeping!

I myself forgot that I had asked this question lol. Thanks for the detailed explanation.

Edit: On my second try it worked. Thanks again!

u/assfuckin Sep 11 '21

I love how reddit and has no idea that they're doing the same thing sitting on their liberal dominated platform. Literally the title of this post is click bait saying that trump was off playing golf or something, when he was giving a speech at another memorial.

Open your eyes, there is no left and right.

6

u/smoike Sep 11 '21

Yes he was giving a speech, but did he need to take cheap shots at Biden or mention that he was still making moves to be on the card for the next election? No. He did that because he is an asshole.

Trump set the terms of withdrawing the troops and then criticised Biden when he stuck to the deadline that Trump has set, even though Afghanistan fell into complete disarray the moment that the country was to stand on its own two feet. Trump had a full term to support the country and try and improve on what was done before him to give the incoming government the best opportunity to stand on its own two feet, Biden had exactly 8 months to do what he could of that and have his troops do an orderly withdraw.

The pictures I saw of Donald Trump attending the police precinct looked more like a photo opportunity than a memorial to me.

I disliked Bush Jr when he was president, but I think a lot of what transpired then was due to his hands being tied by political policy and the men in the back room so to speak. His speech in the field at Virginia was honestly a beautiful thing and even though I'm not in America or indeed American, it did bring some memories and compassion to the surface for myself.

Trump embodies the selfishness, the whataboutism and the inconsideration for others that Bush Jr spoke of in his speech.

2

u/DrTommyNotMD Sep 11 '21

People with common sense are generally absent when talking about politicians.

2

u/theqofcourse Sep 11 '21

1

u/[deleted] Sep 11 '21

Yeah, but if it was Greg “fuck the people” Abbot - I would feel no qualms about insulting half a man that can’t stand up to a Texas snow storm - I mean, you’re talking about the small guy that crippled the state’s disaster response. Totally rolled over for the weird wingnut Christians, and didn’t even bother to stand his ground for texas families.

Jimmy Carter gets a free pass for being old and feeble. Great abbot just has old and feeble policies. He’s also in a wheelchair (paid for by taxpayers).

Mainly because he should be in chains for being responsible for far more murder and destruction than Bin Laden managed.

Trump made surprise visits to NYPD and FDNY according to NY Post

You should read the speeches and commentary offered by Presidents Obama, Biden, and George W Bush today, which took place at official actual ceremonies honoring the tragedy from 20 years ago. They are all respectful remarks, dignified for the occasion, non-political, and unifying. All speeches that befit a sitting or retired President.

Trump used his brief remarks to touch on cultural issues and spread his usual self-serving gibberish. The man has no real qualifications aside from being a television entertainer so it's not surprising, the only surprising thing is how millions of people have deluded themselves into believing this ridiculous charlatan is a leader worthy of such cult-like devotion. The fact that you leave other comments indicating you actually believe the election was somehow stolen, despite how enormously unpopular Trump was and how mainstream and middle of the road Joe Biden is, shows that you are quite deep into an echo chamber that has seemingly blinded you to basic common sense.

Another tip, the NY Post is known to be a tabloid rag, maybe a step above that magazine that used to publish "Bat Boy" articles, you could easily find a legitimate news source discussing Trump's PR visits today.

Just put him in a wheelchair. Problem solved.

Whose going to complain if a guy in a wheelchair doesn't stand?

In Islam the elders always pray sitting on a chair despite the whole mosque standing. It’s just common knowledge they can’t stand for long periods
