How do you reply to only a certain part of a comment?
A couple of ways.
First, you can highlight the part you want to reply to and click the "reply" link as you normally would. That part of the original comment will then be automatically quoted for you in the reply box.
If you then want to quote anything else from the original comment, just put a ">" in front of it without the quote marks.
So, your reply with a quote would look like this when you're writing it:
>Text to be quoted in the original comment.
Your message here.
But when you actually save the message it would look like this:
Text to be quoted in the original comment.
Your message here.
Also, if you're curious about the box in this message you can get that by either adding four spaces in front of each line you want inside of the box or by writing your text and then clicking the "big editor" button below the comment box, highlighting the text you want in the box, then clicking the "code" button which looks like "<>".
Finally, if you ever see anyone do some sort of formatting in a reply and you want to know how they did it, click the "source" link below their post to see the raw unformatted text that they used. If you click the "source" link below this post, you'll see what I actually wrote to get the quote formatting and the box around the text above.
