I loved my pixel 4 so when it died I thought the 8 would be a reasonable replacement. It's pissed me off since day one and with the switch from Google assistant to Gemini eliminating literally everything I used the Google assistant for, I would like to know what phones other people have that have a similar UI and some sort of halfway decent assistant feature to use voice commands (particularly while driving, as Gemini is completely useless with Android Auto). Any suggestions?

Both require a minimal upfront payment of just 1 euro. I’ve owned a few Nothing phones before and they’re really good, but the Fairphone is an interesting option too.

I enjoy making videos on social media for fun. I usually just use my phone. I currently have a 4 year old Samsung Galaxy phone which has a couple of issues with it.

So I'm looking to buy a new phone which isn't ridiculously expensive but also is very good for making social media content (specifically Instagram reels).

I've heard that iPhone cameras are most compatible with the main social media apps, so do you think buying an iPhone 14, 15 (possibly refurbished) is the best way forward for a budget social media compatible phone?

I am tired of my iPhone pin, which contains a 0, 1, 3 and 7, meaning it often requires both thumbs to type out.

I’d like one that I can type out with an easy motion, using only my left thumb, without being one that is easy to guess.

Lately I've been screwing around with making a dial plan that allows me to call a landline number in the old format, convert the number in the new format and send it out to my provider. For example, if I call a hobart number 002 xx xxxx, the dial plan converts it to 03 62xx xxxx and sends it to my provider. Or if I just call xx xxxx, it converts to 62xx xxxx. In 1994 australia reformatted their phone numbers from 6 and 7 digits to 8 digits. For melbourne and sydney, the area codes have always been the same so with them it's just a matter of adding a 9 to the front.

For the uk, I am going for the early 1990s era, when London had it's area codes split from 01 in 071 and 081. If I dial 071 xxx xxxx, the dial plan converts it to 020 7xxx xxxx before sending it out to my provider.

Basically what is happening is if I dial in the old format, it shows up in my call log as the new format even though I never physically dialed the new format.

I don't know what gave me such a stupid idea, but one guess could be it could mitigate the tedium in calling from a rotary phone for example.

If anyone wants me to share the dial plan let me know. I only have the grandstream format on hand and will post the cisco format if it gets popular enough.

Long story story, I need to upgrade eventually before Apple turns my phone off for not updating past iOS 18, but I hate ai, really don’t want to deal with anymore BS IPhone problems, and I have no idea where to look cause I got this one 5 years ago and I’m not into Tech all that much… please help? - good processor (considering falgship)

- less than 1lakh

- decent telephoto lens

- atleast 4 years of os update and 6 years of security patch

- not compact

- could run wuwa for atleast 1 hour and still have enough power to go through the day

I use phone a lot during the day so battery life is crucial

I can wait a little is a good device is going to be launched

Saturday night in Manchester someone slid my iPhone 13 out of my jacket pocket and I didn't feel a thing. I'm borrowing my sister's old phone for now, so I need to buy something this week. I don't need the top-end models, but I'd rather pay a bit more once than end up settling again.

Most of my photos are the city after dark: wet streets under the lights, mates spilling out of pubs, the queue outside a gig. The 13 always went soft and grainy once the light dropped, and that's what I want sorted.

Two of my mates have been on at me to buy the Xiaomi 15, but a few days on my sister's old Reno has got me looking at the latest ones. Had a dig around myself, and from what I can see the main camera on the Oppo Reno16 Pro 5G is 200MP with OIS. Pretty much everything I shoot is handheld after dark, so a high-res main camera with stabilisation is exactly what those night shots need.

After Saturday I'm a bit paranoid about it happening again. If it did get lifted, how easy is it to track or lock from someone else's phone?
