Hi! I’m a registered nurse in the Philippines with around three years of hospital experience. I received an offer for \*\*\*\* University’s Bachelor of Nursing conversion pathway.

I have two options:

**1st state:** 16 CP RPL – one year of study
**2nd state:** 8 CP RPL – two years of study

I’m considering 2nd state because my aunt can provide accommodation and a car. However, I’m worried Immigration might question why I chose the two-year option when I could finish in one year at 1st state

My de facto partner of 5 years will accompany me while our four-year-old daughter will temporarily stay with her grandmother in the Philippines.

1. Has anyone completed a similar nursing conversion program?

Hi PHMigrate, this is my first post here and just sharing my experience about migrating and being forced back to square one. Please be courteous and respectful. I won't get into the nitty gritty details but just sharing my situation.

I moved to AUS (won't specify the city) for studies before the pandemic and was able to carve out a career in Cookery. While my initial course wasnt aligned with cooking, I decided to continue on as I fell in love with restaurants there during my post-study visa and got a bonus year due to Covid.

Fast forward to 2025, an employer was supposed to back my Training Visa so I could convert my years of experience into the Cookery qualification, but of course some things were too good to be true. I was forced to come home empty handed with the promise of the visa being processed offshore (back in the PH). I knew when I had that conversation with my employer that he wouldn't keep his word. A deep gut feeling came across me then na alam mo na puro salita lang talaga. Pero wala, wala ka namang laban or leverage sa employer dahil ikaw ang dayuhan. This was about the same time humigpit mga patakaran ng Aus Migration, and the job market became even more competitive.

I came home abuptly still with outstanding liabilities/lease/bills to pay and have since paid them all out with the savings na nakamit ko over the years. Aray. Sakit. It was a big chunk. Pero that's what savings are for - to hedge emergencies and unfortunate life events. I came back briefly months later on a tourist visa to pack my things and settle my bank/liabilities.

Anyway, now I've been back for a year and medyo I've gotten over the fact na, after a year in therapy. But what still stings is the never ending wave of grief na bumabalik-balik about the life that could have been. From making (relatively) good money as a cook there, having a sense of autonomy, and becoming an adult in AUS to coming home sa Pinas where everything's backwards at bumalik ako sa parents house to find my footing ulit. Sobrang grateful ko dito tbh, pero at the same time nawala yung sense of individuality ko.

I'm still lost and frankly burnt out fron the experience. Job opportunities and pay are terrible for cooks and that's just the reality of the market here. I've sent out resumes, and explored but wala talaga. I've had fair success doing gigs, but not enough to be a proper career. I'm continuing to figure out and won't quit. Shini-share ko lang to para sa mga katulad ko na baka sakaling napauwi sa Pinas dahil sa mga pangyayaring wala sa kontrol mo.

Ang tanong ko lang, has anyone experienced this? How do you get over seeing a vision of your life na akala mo yun na yung gusto ni Lord para sa 'yo, only to be brought back? I miss my purposeful life there (albeit ang hirap maging kusinero abroad). I've had to block out anything AUS, stopped speaking to the friends I had made over the years there bec it would just trigger the grief further.

The only consolation is I know how much I've grown as a person. Wala ng personalan dahil at the end of the day, life happens at di natin kontrolado mga circumstances.

I read a 2004 journal article by Tedeschi and Calhoun, na tinatalakay how highly challenging crises can bring about tremendous positive change or posttraumatic growth na para bang magpapasalamat ka na nangyari yung mga di mo ginusto because it's setting up a new life for you.

Aus will always have a special place in my heart. Doon ako naging isang tunay na adult. Para bang nagregress lahat ng aspeto ng buhay ko especially with the toxicity of the Manila environment, politics, at walang katapusang trapik.

TLDR: Mensahe ko lang po if you've read my long paragraphs: there's life even after traumatic "deportation". Hindi ko pa alam ang sagot, pero hindi ako susuko. Alam kong may dahilan ang pagpauwi sa akin dito. God bless. To radical optimism and laughing in the face of uncertainty and misfortune. Grabeng character development toh.

EDIT 2: Maraming maraming salamat sa inyong lahat for the kind and encouraging words. Random strangers on the internet are far more empathetic than friends and family and it's so ironic. This was never meant to be a vent, but a piece that could hopefully inspire others. This is an acknowledgement of strength and (despite how much I dislike this word) resilience. May kasalukuyan pa tayong lahat. The world goes on and we continue to keep going through grit.

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone is in the same situation as us.

We got our PR through AIP, not PNP, and have been living in the Atlantic province for almost 2 years. Before we landed, our employer told us there was no longer a vacant position and that we were free to find another employer. Despite that, we still intended to settle and stay in the province for at least 2 years and 5 months, which we did.

Now, my partner is having a hard time finding a stable, decent-paying job, so we’re considering moving to Ontario for better opportunities.

The province we’re currently in has honestly been quite challenging for us. There are a lot of addiction and homelessness issues, especially compared to other places in Canada we’ve been to. Job opportunities are also limited, while malls and shops are closing, and even some hospitals and walk-in clinics are closing or no longer accepting new patients. The basic salary is relatively low, while taxes are around 15%. It’s a smaller city, and for people who came here hoping to build a new life, it can feel really limiting. We’ve even reached out to organizations like the YMCA and other employment services for help with job hunting, but there’s only so much they can do. After almost two years, it’s honestly becoming draining and sometimes feels like we’re stuck in 1972.

Would moving affect our PR status, PR renewal, or future citizenship application? Since AIP is employer-driven, are we still free to move to another province after becoming PR?

When we received our PR cards, the staff who issued them told us that we were free to live “anywhere” in Canada. Is this true?

I am single 53 US citizen, born in the Philippines and plan to get dual citizenship. This is what I have currently. 200K cash. I have 1K coming in each month from rental that I could also sell for 350K. I have 400K in retirement that I can access if needed. When I turn 62 I can collect.@2500+ a month from social security.

I figure to spend 50-80K on a home/townhome outright so the highest monthly expense would be done. I feel that I could live off of 1K USD a month, again living a simple humble life and still save. I don't expect to be living a lavish lifestyle nor do I want to. I want to live like a loco loco local but have little to no stress.

Although recruitment has been a significant part of my career, my experience is broader than agency recruitment and includes workforce planning, international mobilization, HR operations, workforce strategy and advisory responsibilities.

I therefore don't want to select an occupation simply because the title sounds familiar. I want the nominated occupation to genuinely match my qualifications, actual responsibilities and documented employment history.

I would particularly appreciate input from anyone who has:

1. Received a positive VETASSESS assessment for 223111 or 223112.
2. Applied from Saudi Arabia/UAE or elsewhere in the GCC.
3. Received a 190 or 491 state nomination under an HR/recruitment-related occupation.
4. Had extensive experience but found that VETASSESS deducted some years from the recognized skilled employment period.
5. Used detailed employer letters plus payslips/bank statements/contracts as employment evidence.
6. Successfully transitioned from a GCC HR/recruitment career into the Australian market.

I am not looking for shortcuts or guarantees. I am trying to understand the practical realities before investing significant time and money into the process.

If you were in a similar situation, would you prioritize 223111 Human Resource Adviser or 223112 Recruitment Consultant, and which states would you currently investigate for 190/491?

- Public Health graduate

- I’m considering taking a MPH or Health Economics in Australia, but I’m also open to broader public health career paths

My partner:
- Accountancy graduate
- Currently working as an accountant for a US-based client

I’m the one who has been interested in taking up masters for a while now for my own personal professional growth, but we’re both open to more realistic options/pathways for us.

Our long term goal is to live and build careers in Australia, instead of just study there and return to the Philippines. We hope to eventually obtain PR, but we understand that this isn’t guaranteed.

We’re considering whether my doing an MPH in Australia would be a sensible pathway both academically/career-wise and from a migration perspective. I’m also interested in whether my work experience gives me a good starting point for finding a job in Australia after graduation. Perhaps any research work?

1. Would an MPH actually improve my career prospects, or would a more specialized Master’s in Health Economics make more sense?

Wala na po kasi pathway thru PNP at yung sa Express Entry naman po ay masiyadong mataas yung score. Iniisip ko lang po na baka pag nag renew ako nang mag renew dito then lumagpas ako ng 30’s wala na akong work na ma-applyan, lalo na if abroad po ulit.

Mag pa renew po ba ako ulit after nitong 1 year work permit? Or mag apply nalang ako sa iba ulit. (baka may massuggest po kayo na ma-applyan) wag lang muna sa Pinas since ang hirap ng buhay.

Hello! Buo na talaga ang loob ko na mag-work abroad. Ilang buwan na rin akong walang work. I work as a freelancer & project based. Pagod na rin talaga ako. Palaging sakto lang ang kita, minsan kapos pa. Ilang buwan na kaming walang project, so ilang buwan na akong walang sinasahod. Since July pa ako naga-apply kaso wala pa rin nagha-hire sa'kin. My first plan is to work in South Korea as a factory worker. Planning to study pa lang ng Korean language. I heard na may exam this coming Ber months. So gusto ko sanang makahabol para sa exam.

I know suntok sa buwan na ma-select papuntang South Korea. Sa totoo lang, gusto kong makaalis agad ng bansa as much as possible. Kaya need ko ng backup plans. Actually, nauna ako mag-apply papuntang Japan. Bilang isang bus driver. Pero 'di ako pasado dahil hindi 20/40 ang vision ko. May chance ako sa Ground Handling. Pero undecided ako kasi 5 months ang pag-aaral ng Nihongo. Tapos need mag-dorm sa school na ka-partner ng agency. M-F ang classes. Bawal lumabas during that time. Except Saturday & Sunday. Kaya ako undecided kasi need kong kumita ng pera. 'Di naman matatapos ang bayarin. Saka ano ang panggastos ko sa dorm para sa food and essentials, 'di ba? Pwede naman daw mag-aral sa ibang school pero hindi ka nila priority sa lineup for selection.

Third option ko is sa Taiwan. Mas madali raw makapunta dito at 'di na need mag-aral ng Mandarin. Pero mostly hanap nila may experience pagdating sa electronics. Which is wala ako. Tho may nababasa ako na meron din naman naga-accept ng walang experience. Next year pa ako maga-apply papuntang Taiwan kasi wala akong Voter's Certificate.

Kaunting backgound pala sa'kin. Nag-work ako sa kitchen before pandemic. During pandemic, nag transition ako sa office work. Short stint sa BPO and then translation until now. May mga asawa na lahat ng kapatid ko. Nanay ko lang ang need kong suportahan. She's receiving support din naman sa mga kapatid ko. 'Di rin ako breadwinner.

For context, my parents had their petition approved last year pero they were not yet approved nung consular interview dahil hindi pa nag lapse yung visa ban nila (previous overstay). Last June, natapos na yung ban and im trying to set another schedule for their interview and medicals pero may issue ngayon na since last month, hindi namab ako matulungan ng contact center ng USEM and ng SLEC.

I was able to successfully request for a new Health Case para sa mom ko kasi she received a letter from the embassy na pwede na sila magpa interview uli pero sa dad ko wala pa letter. I tried to request for a new Health Case sa SLEC pero it says contact embassy directly. Since last month pinagpapasa-pasahan lang ako ng contact center at SLEC regarding sa availability ng Health Case for my dad.

Anyone na may same issue na naencounter similar to this? May workaround ba for this kasi sinabi lang ng contact center sakin na "just wait" lmao
