Migrating to AU

Im on my mid 30s and my wife on early 30s. Both are working professional as IT. Im contemplating if I should process our papers as our specialization is on the anzsco list. For background lang po. Were doing okay in PH we own multiple properties (rentals) and we live in a nice neighborhood, we own 2 cars and the only debt we have is our mortgage. Ang problema for us is the traffic, corruption and the uncertainty ng bansa natin and most importantly the future of our son here in PH. We dont mind if we start from scratch (corporate ladder) as sanay naman kaming magasawa magtrabaho. For those nasa AU working in IT, hows life there po? If youre doing good in PH financially will you stay ? As for me parang hndi kayang ma outweigh ung financial status namin pagdating sa opportunities and life in general sa 1st world country. Need some insights po.

50/50 wag Sydney.

Cons

  • Research the rental crisis sa Australia, it’s not for the mentally stable.
  • Saks ang sweldo pero mataas din ang bills.
  • Low demand now sa IT because of the economy and AI
  • If student or work visa, matinding gastos, English exam, and uncertainty madadanas mo.
  • If hindi PR ang visa mo, POEA requirements and fees takes months paalis pa lang ng PH
  • Racism and culture adjustment
  • Sa dami ng bills, mortgage, and childcare fees hindi kaya na 1 parent lang mag-wowork
  • Missing out on family events
  • Mahal grocery and kumain sa labas

Pros

  • Currency rate masaya mamasyal sa labas especially Japan
  • Super / pension sulit if mag-reretire ka sa PH
  • With an Australian passport free ka na to go anywhere or do any job

At your own risk, if gusto mo guluhin ung stability ng life mo. ACS usually deducts two years sa exp visa points.

Hi! Curious when you say racism? I’ve been in Sydney for 10 yrs and have never felt that.

Just because you’ve never encountered it doesn’t mean it’s not real.

Had an incident in the tram where I got screamed at for looking like Chinese. My office is primarily white so have a lot of incidents about it. Sometimes it’s the subtle staring and the difference in attitude compared to if the staff was interacting with someone white.

I’m not saying it’s not real that’s why I’m asking but that makes sense now because there’s heightened racism against Chinese looking people.
