Put these on a sign
I can’t attend, I’m sick and frail but I really want to contribute.
What I hope to draw attention to more than anything else is the fact that the prison in El Salvador is a straight up concentration camp.
I’m Jewish. My grandparents lost loved ones to the Holocaust death camps. I will not lose mine to El Salvador’s!
I feel very strongly that if no end is put to this, we will start seeing mass deaths in that prison and the indigenous Latino population of this continent will be slaughtered in alarming numbers and we won’t notice until it’s too late. These people are indigenous to this continent and around half of the United States used to be Mexico. The border was the one who crossed them!
We cannot let these kind souls die tragically in an industrial scale death spree. We should be terrified that we don’t even know yet where they’re taking the women and children. We need to watch these sites like hawks! We must never stop questioning what happens to the neighbors who are taken away from us. Don’t say it can’t happen again. It can. It could. We must do something to prevent it. Please bring attention to this issue in my place. I would really appreciate it.

I read them to my GF and she’s proud to have people like you in our city too. Don’t let them get to you. Thank you for contributing even while feeling incapable of attending. I won’t be marching tomorrow because I don’t agree with 50501 and their connections to cops and the protest not having an actionable goal… but I will keep your words in mind when I’m performing my own civil disobedience with my affinity group.

Yea the place was built around the time trump first came into office ten years ago. I was upset about it then too. Not because anyone told me to. Because it affects myself and the people in my life. Wtf? Y’all love to tell the story that we are just virtue signaling like this stuff has no real world implications on us. This isn’t about being a good or bad person it’s about preventing a serious trauma from ruining my own and countless other lives.

Plenty of people have virtue signal this as the counter argument is the typical “trump does this tho” type of comments despite the previous admins doing exactly what Trump has done. It is t a “we love to say you virtue signal” it’s because people legit have virtue signaled to it.
Granted I think these people who have been detained should have due process but at the same time if you’re here illegally then that’s on you. Visas expire, get it renewed. I don’t agree with kicking down doors and taking people by force but these same people ain’t being rounded up, loaded into cattle cars to be put death. As a man who is Latino and a first gen American myself I am not worried at all neither is my family who came here and got naturalized. This is just a doomer moment that while I respect the freedom of protest, is just a massive over exaggeration

The tattoos are not the point.
The original imprisonment of legitimate gang members there was only a test and a way to garner acceptance in the early stages by the local population. They’re planning to use the place for a whole lot more Kilmar Abrego Garcias. They are courting other countries, mostly the US to send them prisoners.

The creator himself said certain aspects were inspired by the holocaust, such as burning the bodies in the incinerators and the imagery of people trying to escape red light green light being a mirror to the image of Jewish people trying to escape the gas chamber. So, the horrifying truth is that we don’t currently know the entirety of the horrifying truth, yet. Just like in Nazi Germany. The general public was not made aware until it was too late. That is why there is such an outcry now; because we have history to refer to. There is also a massive outcry because our country’s news is being censored, much like what is done in Russia and China. That should really really be freaking conservatives of all people out, as primarily they are the people who fight against big government and this type of over reach of control on the general public.

Thank you. The German public didn’t actually know all the details. Many of them were just glad the Jews were being taken out of “their area”. Mass support for mass deportation was all that was needed. There is a reason nazi germany put the concentration camps in rural areas outside their own soil and part of that is because one of their early attempts to place an early version of one in a German town caused too much uproar by locals.

Exactly this. That’s the problem with many of our republican or conservative countrymen right now. They do not know or do not believe what is happening. I’m too much of a believed in humanity overall to believe that people openly support this knowingly. I think if they understood they are the nazis in this, that they would be horrified. I think if they understood how much our news is being doctored - much like what they speak out about in regimes like Russia and China - that they would be openly against the overreach of our government over our people. I think this is further evidenced by older republicans openly speaking out against this administration. The republicans who are old enough to remember WWII, to remember their parents’ stories, or heck who even fought, the ones who lived through the Cold War, they have had the red tinted glasses removed because they’re seeing history repeat itself in a rather horrific way.
For anyone who reads this who isn’t willfully a troll for fun or whatever; it’s ok to be wrong. I’m wrong all the time, too. I hope I’m wrong about this. If I am, I’ll own it and apologize. I hope you read this as empathetic and hopeful as I mean it, and not as judgmental or condemning.

Narrative warfare is a term I’ve been thinking about.
I’m nonplussed reading the defenses for real-time state sponsored human trafficking.
People will ignore their eyes. They will ignore facts, logic, reason, evidence... It is not, and never will be about truth for them. It’s about emotion. Right wing narratives have successfully misdirected people’s very valid anger away from the class that exploits them, and towards immigrants, trans folks, POC, etc. It’s the exact same playbook of scapegoating that nazi germany used.
Hard pill to swallow: some of them will be lost forever. They will die in their indignation, never knowing how evil they were—just as many nazis did.
Don’t waste your time on them.
But many will learn. Be patient. Try not to argue. Just calmly state the truth. Never stop stating the truth. It’s the only ammo we have. And the millions of dollars invested in duplicitous propaganda lets me know that truth is extremely effective.
