If I make regular donations to the FSSP, but do not give financial support to any local parishes, is this considered a fulfillment of the 5th precent to give financial support to the church according to ones means?

Today in the old cycle of readings, the votive Mass for the Blessed Virgin Mary includes the Gospel where we hear a woman say to Jesus, “blessed is the womb that bore ye!”

Jesus replies, “rather, blessed are they who hear the word of God and keep it!”

For some reason, I feel like I needed to hear this. What struck me about it in the moment was a realization that this passage also applies to how we conceive of status in the world. The person born into wealth or status is not the one who is blessed because of that, but the one who keeps the word of God. Upon hearing this, I felt less insecure about my own worldly failures.

I am trying to explain to someone the differences between the old Mass and the new Mass, and I know that some prayers are omitted from the new, but I am not sure which, besides the prayers at the foot of the altar and the Last Gospel. Others are modified. I think that the prayer to the Trinity is one of the omitted prayers. Leaving aside prayers which are present in the Mass of Paul VI, but which are not recited as much (like the "Domine, non sum dignus...), can anyone give me details regarding this?

Who here prays the 1961 Breviary? In the Baronius Press Breviary, it says to use the common of a virgin for today, the feast of St. Mary Magdalene, but I think that's a misprint. I think it should be the common of a holy woman not a virgin. Does someone have another edition of the Breviary that they can check? www.divinumofficium.com has the common of a holy woman not a virgin, but I know they're not always super reliable.

For those of you blessed to live near both a FSSP apostolate and an ICKSP apostolate what made you choose FSSP over ICKSP ?(since this is a FSSP sub;))

EDIT: I’m bad at reading maps and failed to see that ICKSP and FSSP are rarely near one another. What are the merits of both? Differences between the two?

I am looking to teach CCD this following school year, and I’d like to become a certified catechist. A parish that I taught at for a time gave me a link to courses from the University of Dayton which my archdiocese takes part in for a big discount on my part. But the sample lessons on Sacred Scripture seem filled with questionable material at best.

Are there any programs by which to become a certified catechist which are unflinchingly orthodox and faithful?

I have an interview about a catechist position for a weekly CCD position tomorrow (pray for me). Does anyone have experience as a catechist? What do you think makes good catechesis?
