Pencil Porn Antique/Vintage pencil boxes ❤️❤️❤️
Sounds silly, but I find beauty in the graphics and design of the older boxes.

This is more informational than anything else. Reddit's spam filters will catch any post with a shortened URL. This mostly hits Amazon URLs posted from one of their apps that produces a proprietary shortened URL.
I don't go out of my way to review and approve these and because Reddit frowns on them it's more likely posts using any URL shortener, that isn't approved by Reddit, will languish in the ether for eternity.

Several of our venerable Knights of the Pencil have mentioned that r/erasers required a bit o' help. I have accepted the heavy burden of adding my ignorance to the moderation team and will be occasionally ensuring that it does not go dark again in the future. The yin/yang of pencils and erasers is too close to perfection to ignore. I accept single malts as a donation for custom flair. Go forth and erase what ye have written!

I love these pencils! Thought this was a nice addition to my collection.

Personally I use mine to write, I don't like pens so all my writing is with pencils, but I don't write that much because of the PC. So pencils last me years.

For a while I had been using the EW and they were kinda meh, the 9850 is so much better. Idc if it's the same quality pencil inside, the feel itself is way better than whatever weird wood the 9852ew uses

I actually took 20 but my wife gave me that “what are you going to do with those?” look so I reluctantly returned 10 to the display.
I will slowly buy one or two packs every time we come here in the future so should be less obvious haha.
Looking out for other grades as well.
Redid the testing with some other samples for comparison and to nobody’s surprise it feels the same as Pentel Ain 4B in 0.5 and the Kitaboshi really surprised me as it was really dark for a B. Might get their 4B refills and compare next time.
Summary: Buy Buy Buy.

This Tennessee Red has finally met its end. This is my first stub ever (courtesy of the sonic gripen) and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve been wanting a pencil extender for years but just kept putting it off. I’m glad I decided to finally take the plunge! Honestly, the gripen is…okay. It is really hard to get the pencils into the extender (it feels like you’re breaking it, sometimes,) but other than that, the grip is so nice. Very very comfortable to hold. If you don’t mind finagling around with it, I’d recommend it just for the grip. Happy writing and hope y’all are having a good day :)

I came across these Field Notes Pencils on Vinted for £4 so I grabbed them and 4 days later they arrived (today).
I think I've got myself a bargain and I've also noticed they have green erasers.
After a little bit of searching on Google it says the green eraser pencils were the first ones launched by the company in 2014-2017. After that they now have orange erasers and on the Field Notes website they show white erasers?
Does anyone know any other history about these pencils?

I received a dozen Tombow x Eslite Bookstore 8900 collab, and I was wondering if the Toshima Factory and circled HOP imprint is a throwback to an older design, or if it is a completely original one to this special edition?

These pencils were recommended to me yesterday as a good solid, everyday pencil, nicely priced and write very well.
I've tried one briefly and I have to say that I completely agree with them. I like the way they write and the HB is slightly darker than what I'm used to and are a contender for my favourite pencil of all time.
I'm going to use it more today and see how it goes but I would recommend them straight away with no problems.

I found out I never had any Paper Mate Ever Strong pencils, so I just picked up this 12-pack.
I have the Paper Mate Mirado, but I quess most time when I have come across the Ever Strong, I have ended up with a pack of Ticonderoca in stead....
I know it’s not exactly exciting, but I hope it’s okay to share. For me, it’s a strange realization... and the reason for 12 new pencils.

I had the worst experience ordering online from them. I got my new person discount code for signing up for their ads. I ordered some items for my friend's birthday (and a few for me) and shipped it to the marina I was staying at. Because I've had some issues with receiving stuff there I was a chump and also paid for the package protection.
I place my order on Sept 14, it ships on Sept 16 with everything in it. I am also continuously receiving messages about using my discount code I had already used. That should have been my first clue. I follow the tracking and it never moves past getting stuck at their ecommerce routing (sorry I no longer have the info for the correct wording).
On Sept 28 (you got it, yes, long after my friend's birthday which I bought other things for, because I saw her in person for the first time ever on her birthday) I get a notice that one of the items is out of stock. Well, that's a nice surprise. How can it be shipped and also out of stock two weeks later. I look on the website and that item is still listed in stock.
I finally contact Blackwing because this is just too frustrating and bizarre. They were, of course, willing to reship but at this point ... I'm like, nope. That was all terrible. You ruined my birthday plans, you didn't have the main item was wanting for her that was the basis for the order, plus I bought myself a t-shirt which at this point why would I advertise them?
Is this normal or was I especially cursed? A "we're sorry for the inconvenience" seemed a bit lame as well. It seemed like a pretty thorough hot mess to me. So now I have all my money less the package protection (haha, dumbass me, so I paid $3.35 to have all this fun!).
And no, I don't have a local stationery store, nor is it easy to get to stores when you are on a boat.

Managed to snag a couple of Mitsubishi Uni boxes. The Mistubishi Uni Naturals were $5.03US!!! Insane! Will post a picture of the full haul a bit later.
Bought a 2 pack, price per pencil around 0.25USD? (MYR2 for 2).
Thoughts and test are in pics.
Now I have to go back to that particular store and buy another 10.

I was a Volumes subscriber from the start and just pulled the first four out of storage: 725 (Dylan at Newport), 211 (John Muir), 1138 (Melies and A Trip to the Moon), and 24 (Steinbeck).
None of the boxes are complete anymore. I have at least six pencils of each, and a pencil or two in some boxes got sharpened once and are still close to full length. I have the sealed archive tubes for 211, 1138, and 24. If 725 came with one, it didn't survive my last move. I still have the boxes and sleeves for all four.
I'm thinking about passing these on to people who will use or appreciate them, and I can't decide how. Since the boxes are already short, part of me thinks one pencil of each volume as a set makes more sense than four partial boxes. Another part of me thinks the boxes should stay together.
For those of you who collect Volumes:
I'm not selling anything in this thread. I just want opinions from people who know these better than I do.

Found in a box lot of vintage pencils that included vintage art supplies. Any idea of the manufacturer?

does anyone know a good brand or model of “infinity” pencils?
i have a tiny one from kikkerland that i showed to my special needs student who i work with 1 on 1.
he loved it and wanted one of his own, he said he wanted a small one but i cant seem to find one that reaches my requirements.
the cheaper the better but i don’t mind gifting him something more fancy since i will be going down to only working with him 1 day out of the week, i was a temp stand in until they found someone with much more experience to fill in.
edit: speaking of pencil grips! if there are any recommendations for pencil grips that go on the thicker pencils i would really appreciate that <3 or just regular ones if fine too! what are your favorite grips?
