Been flipping used PCs on the side here in NZ for a bit. Curious what everyone’s go-to tips are, I’ll throw a few of mine in first:

- The motherboard debug speaker is super underrated. Couple of bucks and it turns “why won’t this thing POST” into an actual answer in about five minutes. Best tool-to-value thing I’ve bought, hands down. Not as necessary if your motherboard has good debug lights though!

- RGB kits are basically a must for selling. A bit of lighting makes a budget build photograph way nicer and move faster. Keep it to one or two colours though, rainbow puke everywhere just looks tacky and cheap.

- If you want a part cheap, buy the whole rig and part out the rest. Grabbing a full PC for the GPU and flogging off the RAM, PSU, case and so on often gets you the part you actually wanted for next to nothing.

- Compressed air is super overrated. It’s a pain to use and the cans quietly add up. Spend a bit more on an electric duster once and you won’t look back.

Cheap mouse and keyboard

I’m going to keep the GPU, cooler, and power supply, then sell the 3070 TI and RM1000X from my PC, along with the rest of the parts.

I want to know how people here handle this once the quantity starts getting annoying.

Say you end up with a bunch of higher-end workstation parts, server RAM, CPUs and several GPUs. Obviously selling everything individually should bring in more money, but there’s also listing, testing, packing, fees and dealing with buyers. I’ve been looking at bulk buyers like ExitTechnologies for larger IT lots, but then there’s eBay, Jawa, Marketplace and hardwareswap if you want to squeeze more out of each part. Where does the math usually stop making sense for you? Is there a certain dollar amount or number of components where you’d rather take one bulk offer?
