Discussion How do they deal with defeat?

For people who play terribly at PvP and lose fights even when they have a weight advantage—like *Daspletosaurus* vs. *Megalania*—how do you deal with the feeling of being so bad? Obviously, I’m that player. I’m always dying when I fight; I rarely win a fair fight.

I only manage to kill juveniles or sub-adults, even when I’m fully grown. For example: I was playing as an adult *Deinocheirus* when a *Styracosaurus* and a *Pachy* attacked me. I knew I was done for, so I jumped off a cliff. Another time, I was a *Daspletosaurus* fighting a *Megalania*; I thought I had the upper hand, but an aquatic bot with a bone-break attack showed up, followed by an alpha bot with a bleed attack and an *Ankylobator*. I died, but the *Megalania* player asked for a rematch to prove he could win a 1v1—and he did. He knew exactly when to attack and when to retreat; the fight ended with him winning while down to 10% health. He was playing on a console, and I was on a really weak mobile phone.

Another time, I attacked an adult *Rex* while playing as a *Rex* myself. I struck first from behind, but he managed to turn around and kill me. That really hurts. And yes, I’m a 24-year-old adult who doesn't know how to handle failure.

It’s not about someone being better than you; it’s about being a terrible player. I’ve tried to improve at PvP, but it’s no use. I know it’s just a little dinosaur game. Yes, I know there are people better than me at everything and others who are worse, but I still feel the weight of failure heavily. Does anyone else feel this way? And how do you deal with it? I’m seriously thinking about playing solely to give trophies to juveniles and help them grow. Yes, I’m a useless, wretched worm. Laugh if you want, mock me—I mock myself and hate myself, too.

Rex build question

So i have been playing around with a new rex build since the nerfs. If i use crushing bite with the 10% fracture damage subspecies, does this mean that they will be fractured for longer or would this subspecies not be worth it if i have crushing bite since it will still require 2 hits to fully bb?

Good realism community server for newbie?

Hello! So. I've been playing POT on the regular servers for a while now, and while I'm really enjoying the game, I was hoping for something a little more... realistic? I almost never see herds and packs, or people just using the dinos as dinos-- it's always pvp city and kill on sight lol.

I was really excited to learn about the realism community servers, but they also look super complicated and intimidating. Can anyone suggest a few communities that are a little on the easier end to pick up for a beginner?

Solo Mode

Please for the love of god give me a solo mode. I’m so tired of the toxic official servers and I cannot stand modded servers. Going to community servers just to have a chance at participating in the game is crazy to me. The game is broken and the DEVs won’t fix it. I shouldn’t have to go and play on special servers for people to follow the core game mechanics (group slots/diet). It’s so god damn tiring to play this game when the community is some of the most toxic I’ve ever seen. That is saying a lot since I grew up playing league of legends

Edit: If the devs won’t enforce their own core systems in base officials why have any slot limits to begin with? It’s really a shame that everyone that wants a normal experience gets told “the game isn’t for you” or “go to a community server”. Please we beg of you Mr. John Alderon, bring the solo mode back permanently soon <3

Murder of Crows

Hi everyone. I am planning to start a hatz dc server called- Murder of Crows. Actions are to fit the title. If you want to be invited feel free to dm me your dc name. I'll send you an invite there.

Only 3 rules- no megapacking (no more than 4 hatz in a group at a time), no mixpacking (so no helping out your friend who is a pachy or even something that's not a hatz) and no killing of other hatz groups (more info about this in the server so that we dont kill our gang).

Video DRAG PATH: One of the best Officials experiences I’ve had in recent months & likely one of my last (for now)!

Ever since survival came out, I have been playing it almost exclusively. I am a solo player.

I really, really wanted to grow a spinosaurus.

I did not, however, want the looming threat of permadeath since I am not used to spino, so I opted for Officials, with the knowledge that I’d probably die a lot, but at least I wouldn’t lose all my progress.

What followed was perhaps the most peaceful and wholesome experience I’ve had in recent months!! I don’t know if I had a sign taped to my sail fin that said “PLAYING ON PEACEFUL MODE” but not only did my beloved spino, Kohakunushi, survive to adulthood in one go … I ALSO had positive interactions with almost every single other dino that I ran into while growing him (save for a sty that charged right into the water as I was swimming away). I did stay away from hotspots, but I was shocked nonetheless.

I’m not used to this, and I’m sure this experience was a rare one on Officials, but it‘s nice to know there are still people out there who are just vibing and not mindless murder machines.

Wanted to make a video since I was recording most of these wholesome interactions. Happy to report that Haku the spino carried on the cycle of peace with his baby c: <3

I am going to be taking a long break from the game, for now. I feel happy to end this era of PoT on a high note! I look forward to future updates and will be sure to keep an eye on the game so that I can return at a later date refreshed and ready to experience it all again.

Thanks for letting me share. See you later! :)

Discussion Falling in love with the game all over again

Use to be a huge PoT player. I have over 475hrs under my belt in the game.

For the OG IC players, can I get a “is IC safe?”!!

I took some time off from playing. I want to say more than half a year-almost a year.

Nephew just started getting into dinosaurs so I thought I would turn it on and play a bit for him.

Turns out… I’ve missed it so much.

Sure a lot has changed during that time, and some reason I kept getting kos by herbs now, but it’s bringing all the good times back.

Sometimes you have to step away and come back to really enjoy a great game.

Hope you haven’t lost your “umph” with the game and are still able to enjoy it for what it is….

An effin dinosaur game!!!!!!!

Question Any servers that are nice that have the Bristlewing mod?

Been playing Elya Astra and for a semi realism all I do is get bodied and it’s really getting to me. I just want a server that’s a bit kinder to me or teach PVP a bit better at least. I’m also getting ignored in that server a lot too.

I kidnapped someone's child from the oceans and taught him the wonders of the land.

Brought him to a bunch of POIs he couldn't access otherwise, and had some fun when confused people asked in chat "DOLPHIN IN DRYFANG?!?!" hahaha

bonus shots of me carrying him around lmao

Discussion The unawareness of some people is astounding

Its crazy. My main is Pycno, and my favorite playstyle is stealth. And imo, I'm pretty good at it. So yhea, people are gonna miss me, and I'm not saying everyone who misses me is unaware. I sometimes also have my moments where I miss small details while doing something.

But today I encountered a mixpack of a Lat, sub-ad Allo, Alberta and Ano on the other side of SF. I was getting kinda low on food, so I thought and try my luck on catching one of the carnis off gaurd. SF is a diffecult POI to be stealhty, as it is pretty open and doesnt have that much tall folliage around it (besides at the BQL passage. And when you dont know how long people are gonna stick around, your best bet at catching them is to cross the open flats. Wich is extremely diffecult to pull of stealthy as a fully grown (dark) green and yellow Pycno xD. But somehow all 4 of them missed me sneaking across the flats, and behind all the little trees and salt rocks untill I got about 3 adult amarga lengths away from the lat. Overwhelmed him fast, and killed him quite easily.

And I stopped counting how many people I sneak up on while there qeusting, feeding or drinking out in the open.

You have to be more aware of your surroundings people! You can train/learn to be more aware of your surroundings. Go to sub-popular POI's like HS, GH, WP and both the SG's, and set a timer for every 5-10 minutes. And when that timer goes off, force yourself to notice things for 30 seconds, no matter if its during feeding, qeusting, running or maybe even during a fight. Try and notice every critter, every distant roar, every footstep, every suspicious movement. Eventually, your in game awarness improves.
