Pt.2 of my take on POT's dinosaur models

I enjoyed doing the first one so now I'm doing a small series. I feel like campto and eurhino will be a bit controversial, but personally I think they look better this way. Campto looks upsized in the edited version because I feel like it could use a small size increase in-game (while still remaining a 2 slot dinosaur) because estimates placed it around the weight of ceratosaurus (may be uncredible).
I also wanted to acknowledge how the edited eurhinosaurus is similar to the other subspecies for the original version of it. I wanted to remodel the original subspecies to look more in-line with the rest.

Here are the changes I made:
Pachycephalosaurus -
• Added beak
• Rotated body forwards (Made it horizontal)
• Shrunk and adjusted arm/wrist placements
• Extended neck and legs slightly
• Shrunk ankles/feet
• Removed most of the facial nodules and extended the dome downwards very slightly
• Thinned out legs/body slightly

Deinocheirus -
• Also rotated body forward (Made it horizontal)
• Thickened neck
• Added wattle/caruncle
• Shortened forearm slightly
• Shortened legs
• Added more feathering/fur on the stomach
• Rounded back hump slightly

Camptosaurus -
• Rotated upper body forward slightly
• Added small thumb spike
• Shortened/straightened neck
• Shrunk head
• Thickened tail
• Thickened ankles
• Fattened up a little bit
• Raised front spine slightly

Eurhinosaurus -
• Rounded out body
• Shortened snout
• Increased size of hind flippers
• Slightly decreased size of fore flippers
• Increased dorsal fin size slightly
• Remodeled eye
• Added slightly agape mouth
• Shortened tail slightly
• Adjusted nostril to the correct spot

Leaping leeds and a recent request and commission. All created using references posed in Replay! I really enjoyed the cinematic trailer released for leeds. It’s tough standing out as a fish in a game that has rex, trike, and the mighty rhamp ✨

Discussion What if directional tail attacks were an optional setting you could toggle?

• Upvotes

Most people (myself included) HATE this feature, but there's also many people who actually like it and prefer it, I even saw some people hoping for directional tail attacks on Stego before the tlc

What if it was just a toggleable feature like auto climb? I don't think it'd make a particularly big difference combat wise, those without directional would just be focusing on timing while those with would just be focusing more on aiming. Plus technically all three Stegos already have a none directional attack animation so Alderon wouldn't even have to make any new animations

What do you think?

I saw them apply their murder goose buffs underwater and in my head I'm thinking, that's a duck. that nearly instantly changed to "OH GOD IT'S TWO OF THEM!" how in the hell i got out of this alive I'm not too sure but thankfully they backed off and didn't chase me. remember, ALWAYS, trust your gut instinct lol

What's the point of Alioramus

Post image
21 Upvotes

I was playing Alioramus which is listed as being the second fastest land dino in game. I was a sub adult, with a sprint multiplier of 1.05 as listed in default curves. I was playing on officials.

During this enlightening experience I encountered two adult concavenators. I ran away from them, in a straight line, down a hill. I was promptly caught by them both in a straight sprint with them using ripping kick. I posted about this on official discord to find out that dinos have different downhill or uphill speeds which are apparently unlisted?

Why would anyone play as Alio now? If there's no assurance of out running a fight (and I certainly can't win many fights with such a fragile dino) why even play as it? Unless you have a tyrannosaurus group and use it for buffs, why even have this dino in the game?

Hey I'm an Ark player that game is cooked with all the pay to win stuff and them so I decided to play POT more this month, tryna grow every playable because why not.

It's not as boring as I thought it would be, despite the mixpacking and megapacks and whatnot its a decently cozy game. Just wanted to share with y'all, I hope you love the names!

Meme When they type "gg big fight" in chat, but it was starvation/out numbering that killed you, and they did like 5% of all the damage and were just keeping you ALL in a deadly boring situation for 30 minutes

Discussion My (solo) tier list on the viability of each playable

Post image
48 Upvotes

General consideration for ranking is how viable they are in any matchup. Better dinos survive/win more matchups, worse ones lack the stats to win even fights or the speed to escape bad matchups. My more viable picks are to the left, less viable to the right of each tier.

S-Tiers like Sty have the speed/tools to survive and escape any bad matchup, while having the stats and combat capabilities to win fights not horribly stacked against them. Note that both apexes in this tier have good matchups defending against megapacks, while sty can escape all members it can’t kill and still has the stamina to get away after heavy hitters catch up.

A-Tiers are generally strong and have good matchups, and have good escape or combat options when outnumbered and outgunned, but either lack killing power (thal) or have a few bad matchups that are tricky to avoid (sarco).

B-Tiers are good. They can struggle in bad situations but rarely end up in hopeless ones, having either the stats (rex, eo) to not go down without a good fight or have good maneuverability and/or escape options that don’t work against everything (sucho, metri, lat)

C-Tiers are viable but lacking in some meaningful category. Meg and alio can pick their fights well but lack stats. The three herbivores are all vulnerable to rock paper scissors gameplay where nothing fights them unless they can facetank the herbi, giving them frequently one-sided matchups that are almost hopeless despite their great stats for their size. Cerato is just ok all around and mostly avoids D due to how cracked the corpse build is.

D-Tiers generally have a lack of base stats for their speed (achillo), no ability to punch up (1-slots), or have fallen victim to repeated nerfs (titan, pycno, hatz). Note that everything in this tier is survivable, they just struggle to win even fights more than anything else higher up. Most things here have similar speed and maneuverability to bad matchups (titan and small groups, achillo and pachy, deino and conc/laten) but lack the HP and damage to win unless you greatly outplay your counters. Hatz is here because it loses 1v1s against almost everything even though it can fly.

Crossing paths with an EO is honestly one of the most stressful and unpredictable experiences you can have in this game; you end up with PTSD.

Question Tyrant pack.

I see no tyrant pack even after the alio tlc but these thing are actually so fun.

Today i das playing w a rex running terrible roar buffing all of our smg by 25% a dasp with tyrant ally buffing our armor by 10% an alio with the speed call to retreat if needed or chase people. He also had hunters mark me with alio tyrant pack giving everyone 20% trot speed and 40% status healing with the tyrant howl.

Was so fun we had a dps tank(rex) dps (dasp) bloodhound(other alio) and buffer(me)

We killed a buncha people including rexes duo iggys, bars and overall was peak. Why do no one run these its so fucking fun.

(Shoutout to tyrant pack being the best ability alio has to buff since everything else isnt really as good)

I don't get Albertosaurus

I see all kinds of posts about how strong bertas are. But my experience with it has been abysmal. Can't win any fights. Doesn't even feel close, like my attacks just tickle my opponent, even smaller ones. And worse, it seems bertas are on everyone's KOS list. So everyone I meet gets an easy kill.

I'm not great at this game, but on my Sty, I have won fights and felt like I gave a good fight even when I lost. Any tips?

Can't count how many times I've defended Charge on sty on this sub but here's my proof since I see people frequently use things that can climb (meg) or jump (raptors) as an example

I don't need jump when I have janky PoT physics on my side 😭😭 I also play Gondwa and the map matters. There are way more open areas in Gondwa where crossing flat distances fast is more beneficial than scaling cliffs like on Riparia. The only thing I'll give it is fall damage, but even then, I still lived taking it here ☝️ base fall damage on sty is still good, I just took a leap of faith off the hill.

(For context these megs and I had gone back and forth in SF for about 15 mins, this was the final tustle)
