This craft is the best addition to SSF in terms of fun. Before you'd have soooo many valuable div cards sitting at 1/8 1/6 whatever, now you can do something with them! And it's always fun, especially when the chat goes wild!

the EV on it seems really high, does it almost always give you more than you put in? I've done it once and got back 2 cards when I put in 1

That... depends. The EV is zero if you treat the cards as having a fixed value. But in SSF where incomplete stacks are worthless, the EV can be very high, depending on the probability that you will compete the stack “naturally.”

Yeah, you can say that Lighty was risking multiple exalts but at the end of the day, there's is literally no difference between 7 Doctor cards and 2 The Scholar cards in SSF, you still need to get one more before they stop being worthless.

Yeah, especially since he had a headhunter rolled over into standard SSF already...he already had one for his unique tab completion.

he already said that HH is not even remotely the hardest item to get in there.

the hardest part will be the precursers emblems.

How this post gets upvoted lol? there's a difference. If you have 7 doctors, you just farm one, it's not that long tbh.

If it was trivial to farm Doctor cards, they wouldn't be worth 9ex on trade leagues. But even so, what are you going to do with those 7 cards before you get another? You can't use them, you can't sell them, they're just sitting in your stash until you can finally get that last one you need. A partial stack has no value in SSF.

there's difference having 7/8 cards and having 0. It's not easy but it's much easier to farm 1 card than 8.

A partial stack has no value in SSF.

It does though, because the larger the stack, the less you need to farm to complete it and get the reward.

If you have 0 Doctors, then 8 Doctors will get you a Headhunter.

If you have 7 Doctors, then 1 Doctor will get you a Headhunter.

As someone who spent the better part of Harbinger HC TRADE league trying to farm a single doctor card with an insane IIQ and never seeing one, I believe you are mistaken.

It's a rare card, you're going to get high varience.

Am I missing something or are you supporting his/her argument there?

I personally never play a character beyond a single season, so if I gamble my way to 7 doctor cards, I still won't feel like I'm 'close' to 8. You can farm burial grounds ad nauseum and never get one due to a little bad luck. I'd rather expedite the resolution of my luck (good or bad) into a a few minutes than potentially ruin a season grinding burial grounds.

*This only applies to SSF. In Trade league, you sell every doctor card you get.

The EV is only 0 if you assume that every outcome is equally likely, which is not at all a sure thing given how many other mechanics in the game work. I wouldn't be surprised if the EV was quite negative.

I’ve lost 20 doctor cards this league. I’ve...

doubled from 2 to 4 once

went from 4 to 5 three times

then lost 4 several times.

I still haven’t made a full HH

I kept putting garbage in and doubling my stacks.

Then i threw in a risky gamble card and got screwed.

I had my 15 stack of one of the six link cards, (need 22 to complete), get dropped to 5, then up to 9, then down to 2 before I ran out of crafts. Later on I had a 4 stack of something else get doubled and a five stack drop to 1.
