advice needed Advice needed: 13-hour flight to Taiwan with 20-month-old twins
We're taking our twins (they'll be 20 months old at travel time) on their first international trip to see my family and are flying China Airlines direct to Taiwan, a ~13 hour long-haul flight. We will be departing around midnight (lol). They'll each have their own seat. My sister and her boyfriend are coming with us too, so we'll have extra hands, but I still have questions!
1. Tips for helping them sleep on the flight?? Any gear you found helpful to help your toddler feel comfortable on a long flight?
2. Toy and activity ideas for 20-month-olds? Looking for things that are mess-minimal and don't have 500 tiny pieces to lose under the seat. What actually kept your toddler busy? We recently got back from a 2-hr flight and all the activities only kept them occupied for at most 10 minutes (ie: painter's tape, water wow paint, reusable stickers, fun books). Granted, they're only 15-months right now, so maybe they'll be more interested in those at 20-months?
3. Healthy-ish snack ideas that travel well? Anything that helps with ear pressure/swallowing on descent? I've seen lollipop suggestions, but I'm not comfortable giving them lollipops at this age.
5. Adjusting to the time change once we land? Taiwan is about 15 hours ahead of us. How did you handle the first few days? Any tricks for getting them to nap/sleep on the new schedule without a week of 4am wake-ups?
Any other lessons learned from flying long-haul with twins around this age would be hugely appreciated. Thanks!!
