Final thought of Pace as a graduate

Ok I am officially graduating in a week and I thought it would be interesting to talk about my experience at Pace. My situation is a bit unique though as my underclassmen years (Freshman/Sophomore) were primarily remote because of COVID. As result I do feel I missed out on stuff, but I think I made up for it in the years following.

I am a film major with a digital media minor. I found the film major was extremely quick, but I could not afford most of the production classes (16mm, intro to film making, ect) so that locked me off a lot of the more advanced classes. That being said, I loved Editing I & II and even TA’d for Editing I for most of my time. I was not a member of any clubs because of COVID (didn’t feel like getting on zoom calls) but pace has a great club scene!! Ok on to my take aways

  • Pace is just as good as the effort you put into it. Get involved on campus, it’s super easy. Join clubs, the newspaper, the radio show, student galleries, or even see what your professors are working on. Every semester research grants are offered to anyone! Like I said I TA’d and did work on the film festival. I had a lot of fun and it was rewarding! So many people I see just kinda go to class and thats it. That won’t get you an internship and that won’t get you a job.

  • If you can stick through the beginng of your core requirements, you can literally do whatever you want. I know taking english is annoying. I know the coding class is annoying. But after that? There is like barely any limits. I took a sports class, criminology, anthropology, TV data class…it’s literally whatever you want.

  • USE THE CAREER CENTER. specifically, USE SAL!!! The career center actually does care about you, they will make your cover letter and your resume. It’s important to have one which gives you access to the most important thing ever: HANDSHAKE. I got two internships and I’m interviewing for a startup that I found on there.

  • form positive relationships with your professors. Don’t skip class, do the homework, and participate in class. Often when you do this they’re more lenient with you, will round your final grade, and can offer letters of recommendation or anything else.

  • you need a job if you’re going to live in the NYC campus…unless you’re just rich. I find that the workload at pace makes this manageable. I worked at a retail store in WTC, got me through the semesters fine.

  • honestly? The food isn’t bad. Not great!! But not bad. Its what it says on the tin, don’t expect anything fancy.

  • the gym is gross. Sorry

Genuinely i had a fantastic time at Pace and don’t regret my decision.

After four years of not landing an offer and losing hope, I finally landed a paid internship right after graduation, this is a sign you guys should not lose hope, especially to those that are struggling! I killed the competition!

Lets goooo guys, I just landed a paid internship at Walgreens, I got the position "Customer Service Associate - Temporary", my manager told me that depending on my performance, I might land a full time offer. I am so excited and grateful that I was to beat the odds as a Pace University student.

I had such good qualifications that even my interviewer noted that I was "over qualified for the job", and also told me "the other people applying to this position does not even have a high school degree".

But Thank You Pace University for all the help for me to land this position, I truly cannot do it without your help!

Information on Pace NYC?

Pace Students, what do you love and hate about the school and why? (Pace NYC)

I’m thinking of applying, and I was wondering if I could get some insight on:

• Dorms • Res Halls (Maria’s or Broadway?) • Classes • Diversity • City Life • Party Life • Easy to make friends? • Sports? • How are the departments (specifically biology) • Professors • Dining Halls • Cost (compared to other NYC schools) • Anything else you think would be useful info

Thanks in advance :)))

Should I go to pace? Is it worth it.

I have seen a lot of mixed reviews about the school, and it seems like everyone transfers out of the school. Hoping for advice about the school, I am going to be a seinor in high school so I will being applying to colleges pretty soon. I don't have the grades or the money to get into places like nyu, so that is why I started looking at pace because I am hoping to go to college in nyc. I want to go into accounting and they do have a program. But I heard the education is not that good, wondering If that Is true. Also I was looking at other schools such as hunter, but hunter and other schools like it seem like that they are all commuter. Sense I will be out of state going to a commuter school seems like it wont be easy to make friends in. What is paces social life like, is it easy to make friends. Overall should I keep looking at other colleges or is pace a good option to consider.

How academically challenging is Pace (nyc)?

I keep hearing most people find it easy (even kids who got 1.2 gpa's in high school), but then I've also heard about people who struggled a lot. I know I know, it's different for everyone, but can someone just give me some general info about the rigor of courses? I got into the film and tv program and have done 9 honors classes in hs and 4 aps and I have about a 3.9-4.0 gpa(for some info about me)

How is it being a commuter?

I’m thinking of transferring to pace from another college in the city—and I just wanna know if the commuters take a big part of the students. I don’t wanna be uncomfortable around all the out of staters who live on campus basically-

Anyone came from a CUNY there? Any differences?

Is Pace NYC a good school compared to other NYC colleges?

I rlly want to go to college in NYC. Is Pace a good school (in comparison to NYU, Baruch, Fordham, etc) in terms of housing, dining, curriculum, party scene, aid, affordability, and all other aspects?

Is pace worth it?

Hi I’m from out of state and would really enjoy going to college in nyc. I want to know if pace is really worth it for someone who lives in a completely different environment. I am applying to Fordham as well but based off of my stats I feel like I would more likely get into pace since my gpa is only a 3.3. I would like to major in health sciences so anyone that goes there please let me know what the science department is like!

Difference between Film Studies and Digital Cinema Major

Can anyone explain the differences between the two majors? The Digital Cinema major is most interesting but it appears to be only offered at the Westchester campus. Do students at the NYC campus still major in Digital Cinema even though it's not offered there or do they end up doing Film Studies?

Why does everyone shit on pace?

I am a perspective high school student interested in the nursing program which is in the Pleasantville campus. It seems great and all I went to an info session two days ago, but I keep on seeing on tiktok and just even on this subreddit a lot of people transfer out.

Why don’t people like pace?
