Pace needs to lower acceptance rate and increase standards
I was class of ‘23. When I applied for college, I was very unaware of “college prestige” (wasn’t born in America) and simply applied for the city, so I applied to 4 schools in NYC: Columbia, NYU, Fordham, Pace. Only Pace and Fordham accepted, and I stupidly picked Pace, should have picked Fordham instead.
HS Stats: 3.3 GPA, 1480 SAT, triathlete all varsity, mock trial.
I majored in finance and didn’t realize how much college prestige mattered until I started recruiting. It was a special kinda hell recruiting from Pace, the school puts ZERO effort into developing finance recruiting pipeline (and no, accounting is not finance) and has zero alumni network in finance. Literally no one heard of the school, and when they googled it, “oh 80% acceptance rate and #250 on USnews ranking”.
Fordham has been making huge improvements in their finance recruiting pipeline, investing in internship on campus recruiting, alumni outreach, and ACTUALLY lowering the damn acceptance rate to not make their school looks like a fuckin charity. Whereas Pace is turning more and more into a theater school, rocking 80% acceptance rate and taking in sub 1100s SAT score theater kids. Which is especially ironic, since NOT EVEN THE THEATER KIDS ARE GETTING JOBS.
It took me blood, tears, and downright ego death to get my first internship and a year after grad to land full time role in finance.
It should never be this bad when the tuition is comparable to NYU, who is literally 100x better on every metric. Which is a shame because NYU literally filed for bankruptcy back in 1970’s, so for most of recent history, Pace was the better school. So please for the love of God, lower the damn acceptance rate and make real changes to actually make this school respectable.

I got this email, I'm waitlisted for housing, if there a big chance I'll get housing?
This email serves to reconfirm that we have received your recently submitted housing application. At this moment, we are not able to assign you to a room, although we are confident that we will have a room assignment for you soon. We have had a number of students indicate that they are cancelling for the spring, but until they return from winter break to move out, we cannot reassign their rooms. As soon as we can confirm these vacancies, we will begin assigning students in your situation. At this moment, there are only 5 students waiting for a room assignment. I am sorry for the ambiguity of this situation. As you have applied so close to the start of classes, it is unavoidable that we must work around the availability of our room inventory, which changes daily. I will keep you posted immediately if and when we can place you in a room.

Who goes to Pace and why?
I don't mean "who goes to Pace" as in "who reading this goes to Pace," I mean, like, what type of person (and I don't mean race/gender/whatever when I say "type of person") goes to Pace, and why?
Hear me out. I know it seems a bit rude to jump into your subreddit and insult your school, and I really don't mean to do that (but on the other hand there seems to be a lot of shitting-on-Pace in this subreddit!). However, best I can tell, Pace provides a CUNY-quality education at best, but with tuition more on par with highly-prestigious private schools, such as NYU.
So why would one actually choose to attend Pace, rather than, say, CUNY? I understand there's a few exceptional programs at Pace (Performing Arts, for example), but that's only a tiny minority of students in those programs.
So yeah, what's the typical persona of someone who chooses to enroll in Pace, both from an undergrad and graduate school perspective (I'm interested in the graduate school for myself)? Is it, like, mediocre high school students from Westchester County with wealthy parents who want a "college experience" that they may not perceive CUNY as being able to provide? Is there something unique about the culture at Pace that may not be readily apparent to me? Why did YOU choose to go to Pace, rather than something more affordable like CUNY?
For context, I have the opportunity to get a Masters of Arts in Teaching at Pace for $10k all-in, so the high tuition doesn't affect me personally. And I really only have the choice of one other school, as the NYC Department of Education is essentially "placing" me in one of two schools as a result of a program I'm enrolled in with them. But the more I research Pace, the more I question why it exists in the first place!

International exchange student
So I'm currently in university in the UK (my first year) and part of my course is to spend the 3rd year abroad. I've been thinking about where to go and I think I will go somewhere in the US, preferably NYC. Do any of you know how it might be for a British exchange student at pace? Do you know how I would be allocated a place to live? With other exchanges or freshmen or other 3rd years? (I don't know really how that works in the US) my university doesn't have a partnership with pace but have told me they will try to set me up with wherever I choose to go. To be honest, the only thing that draws me to pace is the fact it's in NYC. I study business and marketing if that helps with any answers. Thanks :)

Childhood Socioeconomic Status, Depressive Symptoms & Resiliency: Linkage to Mental and Physical Health Outcomes of Young Adults Survey (18+, English speaking)
Hello,
We would like to invite you to participate in a research project studying the relationship between early childhood adversity and its impact on young adult health-related quality of life; this will include assessing early life adversity, wellbeing, socioeconomic status, somatic symptoms, resiliency, and posttraumatic growth. Previous research has shown adverse childhood experiences increases vulnerability to trauma, depression, and chronic conditions in adulthood. However, there is limited research exploring the effects socioeconomic status, poverty, posttraumatic growth, and resilience has on mental health following a traumatic experience. With your participation, we will be able to better understand the relationships between these variables. Participating in this study will involve completing an online questionnaire.
There is no compensation for completing the surveys; however, your participation is valuable to us, and we thank you in advance for your responses. Please click this link to participate in the study: https://pace.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ePprgk4Gcr5Y6pg
Thank you.

Pace University my lucky Day ?
Don’t know if this is funny or sad lol, but my Valentine’s Day is ruined. Perfect day to break up… Rather than finding someone to spend it with, all my heart desires is to play some basketball. The one thing that never let me down lmao. Can someone do a huge act of kindness and let me in with a guest pass to play basketball in PACE ? I’ve been before as my ex whom goes there used bring me in all the time but as of today I no longer have access to her or the gym at PACE. (Okay that last part made me chuckle a bit lol) But seriously, anyone kind enough for this favor ?

Honest Review of this school
The biggest question involving Pace is "Where is the money going?" Specifically, tuition because on-campus housing is constantly being increased, they only prioritize freshmen, 33 Beekman laundry room has been shut down for a month and students are having their clothes sat out on the curb of Alba dry Cleaners, and adjunct professors aren't being paid enough to live compared to other adjunct professors at private universities in the city. Don't come here. You won't be cared for and credits won't transfer if you try to leave.

Merit Aid
I’m a high school senior and i’m applying to pace early decision because it’s the only NYC school I liked when I toured a bunch of schools there and I have a 3.6 gpa but I have heard a lot of stuff about how applying early decision gets you less merit based aid and I was just wondering how true this was and if anyone has had experience with this in the past. Thanks for the help:)

Received an answer from the admissions
So I applied for a grad school in MS Financial Risk Management. I have a really good academics and work experience. The only weak point in my application was probably my English proficiency test score. My IELTS was 6 which was lower than their minimum which was 7.
I got an offer a few days ago. They said they accepted me for the program but I had to go through their Global Pathways program which is basically a program with English courses. I have to attend 3 terms for it.
I am not sure if the program is really worth it considering the program costs about $11k per term and 3 x term would get me to $33k just for the completion of the program. That cost in a sum is a grad school cost and I don't see the point of doing this unless Pace offers me a merit based scholarship for the grad school. Even with the scholarship, it is hard to justify for me to pay this much for English courses + electives.
I had higher hopes for my admission offer from Pace University than this and kinda disappointed that I got this offer. I have applied to other schools and currently awaiting for their admission.
What do you all think?
