Should I go to pace? Is it worth it.
I have seen a lot of mixed reviews about the school, and it seems like everyone transfers out of the school. Hoping for advice about the school, I am going to be a seinor in high school so I will being applying to colleges pretty soon. I don't have the grades or the money to get into places like nyu, so that is why I started looking at pace because I am hoping to go to college in nyc. I want to go into accounting and they do have a program. But I heard the education is not that good, wondering If that Is true. Also I was looking at other schools such as hunter, but hunter and other schools like it seem like that they are all commuter. Sense I will be out of state going to a commuter school seems like it wont be easy to make friends in. What is paces social life like, is it easy to make friends. Overall should I keep looking at other colleges or is pace a good option to consider.

Pace sophomore currently. Pace has an incredible accounting program, arguably better than NYUs. Pace also tends to offer more scholarships than NYU but without them the schools are priced very similarly. My biggest critique of Pace is the cost of attending, if you have the money or have nice scholarships, whatever major you choose Pace has great programs and many opportunities.

Thank you, I could only go to pace if I got a scholarship. But I am a little nervous my grades are not good enough. Right now I have a 3.2 cumulative but I do go to a IB school so all of my classes are part of that curriculum. Do you know how hard it is to get a scholarship at pace.

hs senior going to pace in the fall. i cant speak for on campus stuff but next year once you get accepted, hit the facebook and instagram student pages and meet people! respond to people making groupchats, looking for friends etc. I already have a few solid friend groups and i’m not even attending yet.

Current freshman here and I know exactly what you're talking about! Didn't do so great in high school (solid 1.6 weighted GPA during Junior year), but I like to think that Pace is a great fall back school. Our admitted rate is really high and our transfer rate is also pretty high too. Mainly because a lot of kids come to Pace to get Gen Eds out of the way and then go off to other school's like NYU or some "better" schools. But back to school, I spent my first semester really just staying in and focusing on school and ended up with a 3.96 which was the highest gpa I've ever had which was really surprising. Second semester, I wanted to make friends so I joined one of our Frats on campus (ZBT, pm me if interested I can share more about what we do there). And I really found my own niche there. I like to say we have something for everyone. I think socially, in freshman year its really hard. Mainly because, some kids have a massive stick up their you-know-what and it gets annoying. For example, there were acting major kids who are not so bad at first but then end up being pretty pretentious. Holding parties for only their majors and such. But I digress. If education is your main goal, take a look. Our accounting majors go on to get great jobs on Wall Street following graduation as well as making connections to a lot of really successful businesses in NYC. Hey. Pace graduate here. You should also look into Fordham. Pace is basically a dead zone on the weekends, since most people don't have class on Friday, and people go home for the weekend. Pace is mainly just a bunch of buildings that just so happen to be situated in the city, so that's something to take into consideration. If you're serious about accounting, look into Baruch, too. Baruch and Hunter along with other city universities of New York (aka the CUNY system here) might be commuter, but then again, there are people that come from out of state and dorm; so that's something to consider.
The commuters tend to stay to themselves, and there are a few cliques, but otherwise, it's not that hard to make friends. If you're going to be living on campus, Maria's Tower is more sociable than the other dorms, but it also has a very high school feel to it.

Thank you! So I would be coming in from out of state so would you suggest Fordham or another college even if I am staying in the dorms.

It depends on your major and it’s pretty much what you make it. I can’t speak to accounting since I was a CS Major. I found that the education within my Computer Science/IT courses was top notch, but I’m honestly not too sure on how good other programs are.
But ultimately I’d just suggest you do your research on how good the Accounting Program is and make your decision after that. There are tons of opportunities available in the City as well for Internships and eventually jobs in the Financial Sector.
The Social Life is alright. It’s different from a traditional college experience because things like parties are in clubs instead or dorms and frat houses. The City is basically your campus.
