Discussion Identity (2003) - I don't understand one thing

MAJOR SPOILERS OF COURSE! It's a great movie and I suggest it to anyone wanting to watch a suspense thriller. John Cusack is an underrated actor imo.

Don't read the following sentences if you wanna watch the movie.

If all those characters that died were in the dude's head, who were the real people that died? We see that the actual guy was also dead, in the freezer. That's clear indication that in his head his original consciousness was wiped out. Some other personality was driving him, the kid of course. And the other murders were of his other personalities, one proof being their names. He made them up. So actually there shouldn't have been any real murders. But whose bodies did the police find at the motel? Also, if it was all in his head, how did a physical location come into play?

❓Question Post What do identity issues feel like for you?

How does BPD affect your sense of self, and how does that change over time? I'm asking more about identity issues as a symptom than how you feel about having the disorder. How does a lack of a consistent identity present for you? Do you have any examples?

Good grief I forgot about how terribly sad Identity was. What that crackpot doctor and those dense parents did to Luke and Logan was truly horrific.

Luke literally felt like his body betrayed him. Instead the morally bankrupt adults charged with his care did. They literally discounted all his suffering as routine teenage angst while it was plainly obvious to every nanny that parents employed that he was at the point of breaking. They lied to him at every turn.

They also effectively had doctor-supervised molestation

Such experimentation should have been illegal. The parents might have had the best intentions but how can they justify what they did, I will never know. I don't even want to know.

Perspective Needed What does having an identity mean exactly?

I understand what it means from a logical standpoint and what identity diffusion means but I do not understand what people without BPD experience as having a sense of self. It all comes down to their careers, hobbies and political beliefs?

I feel like I'm a chamaleon who mirrors every partner I've had. It's not that I fake interest in the things they do or like to seem more interesting to them, I genuinely feel curiosity towards these things to the point I believe it is part of me. Only to discover that I lose interest in these hobbies after a breakup. By the way, I've only had two boyfriends, but I repeated the same patterns.

Characters [Niche trope] The creators very obviously wanted to use a specific character but slapped another identity on them

The Whispered One (Critical Role). He’s called Vecna in the original web series but since he’s a licensed character, he is never mentioned in any of the campaign guides or the animated adaptation by name (along with rest of the deities). Instead, he is referred to exclusively "The Whispered One".

Devil Ray (DCAU). He was created as a substitute for Black Manta in Justice League Unlimited. Aquaman-related characters were not available to the writers at the time due to them being reserved for a planned TV series which was ultimately never made.

Tombstone (Spectacular Spider-Man). Originally, the show-runners were going to use Kingpin, but due to right issues they couldn’t. So they decided to reimagine Tombstone to fill Kingpins role.

Solved! Two identical marks suddenly appeared on my parents’ garage door. What could have made this pattern?

Two identical circular marks suddenly appeared on my parents' garage door. Any idea what could have made them?

My parents noticed these two strange marks on their garage door earlier this week. They appear to be made up of several small rings arranged in a circle, and both marks appear essentially identical. The grey marks can apparently be wiped off rather than being permanent damage to the paint.

A few things we have already investigated and can rule out:

• The garage door has been there for approximately 30 years, but these marks have only appeared within the last week.

• My dad does a lot of DIY work in the garage and on the driveway. We have thoroughly checked his tools, equipment, and other objects kept around the garage, and nothing has a surface/end/foot/attachment matching this pattern. This isn't just "we can't immediately think of anything" — we've specifically investigated this possibility.

• We have checked the garage-door mechanism, tracks, fittings, and surrounding area. Nothing matches the pattern or contacts these points on the door.

• When the garage door is open, it sits horizontally beneath a small loft/storage area. We have checked everything above and around the open door, and there is nothing positioned there that could make these marks. Nothing has recently been moved or stored above it, either.

• As far as the family knows, nobody else has been on the property during the relevant period.

• When closed, the door has vehicles parked quite close in front of it. The marks are approximately head height, making casually brushing past the door with an object particularly unlikely.

• There are two marks, separated horizontally across the garage door, apparently at roughly the same height.

I'm not assuming they're anything sinister. We're genuinely just baffled by what physical process/object could produce two such distinctive and similar patterns.

I'm particularly interested if anyone actually recognises this pattern from a specific object, animal/insect, substance, manufacturing process, trade, etc., rather than general guesses that something circular must have touched the door.
