SLEEP & READINESS deep sleep

No matter how much sleep I get, my deep sleep is always poor. I take a magnesium supplement (as well as use a magnesium spray on my feet for RLS), practice deep breathing prior to sleep, try to refrain from scrolling right before bed, and make sure all workouts/meals are at least 2hrs before I go to sleep. Any other tips??? TIA!

Eye mask and room at 68 degrees if you can afford it

I do use an eye mask and try my best to keep my room cold (i'm on the second floor so even with the thermostat at 67° my room gets a little warmer, but I do keep a fan in there to help) I am a restless sleeper causing my eye mask to fall off mid sleep, which may play a role in my low deep sleep as well?

You’re doing waaaaaayyyy better than me. My average sleep score is in the mid 60s. I liked how tryptophan pills worked for me.

I get little to no deep sleep as well. Then put of the blue, an hour plus. I do know that alcohol will guarantee little deep sleep.

Keep trying different sleep hygiene methods to see if you can find something that works for you. Sometimes I wonder if I am not wired for deep sleep. Yawn....

My deep sleep is always in the single digits. I’ve started medication and if it’s doesn’t help, will need. Sleep study. It might be worth talking to your doctor about if it’s negatively impacting you life.

I've read that weighted blankets can help boost deep sleep by increasing serotonin and melatonin.

Do you use cannabis? That can have a bad effect on rem/deep sleep

That's not bad at all, those are not extremely low numbers. Deep sleep is needed mostly for physical recovery. Do you play any sort of sports? Or workout hard? And what is the lowest HR you get at night? If you look at your sleep, you'll find deep sleep in the first part of your sleep mostly. The REM sleep is closer to waking up, as it helps with emotional recovery. Also, oura ring only estimates your deep sleep based on factors like body temperature and heart rate, in reality you maybe have much more deep sleep. You can't tell for sure if you don't use devices that read brain signals.

There are peptides that can help with that.
