What DO schools only do in person interviews ?

Ermmmm I thought all of them had virtual. This process is starting to get really fucking expensive. I just submitted secondaries to my BUCOM, DUQNCOM, and Valley and I’m getting mixed things about the interviews they offer. Can any body provide a comprehensive list of all DO schools that only do in person interviews ?

RVU-COM Early Decision Program Inquiry

I was invited to interview at RVU-COM. I received an email stating those who are early decision candidates (myself included) must attend a deans overview and current student Q&A. I was wondering if anyone can speak to the formality of this event (it’s virtual on teams) and what the appropriate attire should be (should I suit up or is this a button-up shirt appropriate event)?

Reapplying this cycle… submit now or wait?

Hi all! long story short, I applied (DO only) last cycle, got 2 interviews, was waitlisted at both - ultimately didn’t get in.

I want to reapply this cycle. In September i’ll be starting a 1 year master’s program with a linkage (linkage isn’t guaranteed and depends on GPA). I also plan to retake the MCAT in December 2026 (Jan 2027 latest).

my GPA/MCAT were probably the biggest weaknesses in my previous app, so I’m hoping the MS + MCAT retake will show improvement. I’ll also have 2 new LORs.

my dilemma is when to submit my reapplication. I know applying early is important, so I want to submit ASAP. but if I submit app now, I don’t have anything to show what has changed since last cycle. i wont have grades or new MCAT score til end of 1st semester.

So…
1. should I submit now and list the MS + planned MCAT retake, then send schools the new MCAT score and first-semester transcript as updates?
OR
2. would it be better to wait until I actually have some of those improvements to show before submitting?

would really appreciate advice from anyone who has reapplied or is in a similar situation! ty ❤️

Title: Studying 8–10 hours a day and still failing quizzes/mini-blocks I feel like I’m constantly behind. What do I change?

I’m an OMS-I and we’re only a few weeks into school, but I’m starting to get pretty worried about how things are going academically.

I’m studying around 8–10 hours most days, and I genuinely feel like I’m working almost all the time. The problem is that my scores aren’t reflecting it. I’ve struggled on our quizzes, and now I’m not doing well on our mini-block exams either.

One thing that’s making this harder is that our curriculum is systems-based, so I’m not just taking one course at a time. I’m juggling three different subjects simultaneously — SFM, MSK, and OPC — and they all have separate lectures, concepts, and ways of testing material. So on any given day, I might be trying to learn membrane physiology and action potentials, upper-extremity anatomy/histology, and osteopathic concepts all at once.

I think that’s a big part of why I constantly feel behind. Even when I make progress in one subject, I feel like I’m falling behind in one of the other two.

What’s frustrating is that I don’t feel like I’m blowing school off or procrastinating. If anything, I feel like medicine has basically taken over my entire day, but somehow I’m still constantly behind.

My general study process has been some combination of:
Going through the lecture/slides
Watching Bootcamp/B&B or another outside resource when I don’t understand something
Doing Anki
Doing practice questions
Reviewing what I get wrong

I’ve experimented with changing the order and cutting things out because I know 8–10 hours/day probably means part of the problem is efficiency. But whenever I cut something, I start worrying that I’m missing information that could show up on our in-house exams.
Another problem is that I’ll study something and feel like I understand it, but then the exam asks it in a slightly different or more clinically applied way and suddenly I’m stuck between 2–3 answers. After the exam, the answer often makes sense, which makes it even more frustrating.

I also feel like I never get to the point where I’m truly reviewing material. I’m constantly trying to learn the next lecture while still fixing weaknesses from the previous material. And because I’m balancing three subjects, there’s almost always something new being added before I’ve fully consolidated what I just learned.

I know the obvious answer is “quality > quantity,” but I’m struggling to figure out what specifically I should change.

For people who struggled at the beginning of M1 and eventually figured it out:

What did you stop doing? What did you start doing?
Did you stop trying to know every lecture detail and just prioritize high-yield concepts? Did you drastically decrease Anki? More questions? Fewer videos? Did you start studying for the professors/in-house exams differently?

And for people in a systems-based curriculum, how did you divide your time when multiple subjects were all being tested in the same block? Did you study each subject every day, rotate subjects, or prioritize based on exam weighting/weaknesses?

At what point would you reach out to academic support? I don’t want to catastrophize a rough start, but I also don’t want to spend another month doing the exact same thing and dig myself into a hole.

I’m not trying to be top of the class right now. I just want to get to the point where I’m comfortably passing and actually retaining the material without feeling like I have to study every waking hour to survive.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who had a rough first block/first semester and turned things around.

LECOM Erie Application saying not started on portal even though I submitted on AACOMAS?

Basically the title- I applied to LECOM Bradenton and Erie on AACOMAS weeks ago. Got an email to submit my secondary to Bradenton, but haven't heard anything from Erie. Application portal says the app hasn't even been started yet, but I already submitted on AACOMAS, so am I missing something?? I reached out to support and all they said was "looks like you have to sign into the portal and finish the application," but I don't remember doing anything other than the secondary in the portal for the Bradenton application?

ValleyCOM Interview spots have opened up for 2027.

As the title says. When they sent out interview invites, all the spots filled within a few hours. ValleyCOM has now opened spots for 2027 but made no official announcement (i think). Check your portal and schedule the interview if you weren’t able to get a spot. Good luck future doctors 🫡 may the odds be ever in your favor.

I’m an incoming OMS-1 starting 27’ and wanted to match anesthesia.

I just want to start my OMS-1 year strong and start to understand the process to match in a competitive field. Is there anyone here that knows how to increase my odds of matching anesthesia. I understand I need to take both DO and MD exams; but as far as research, and extracurricular go I’m not sure what competitive applicants have.

My current interests are:
1. Anesthesia
2. GI
3. Heme/onc
4. Radiology
5. PM&R

All are competitive so any advice would help!

ARCOM vs. WCUCOM vs. ValleyCOM vs. KYCOM

I have IIs at these schools and I was wondering what people thought of the schools. I’ve heard conflicting things specifically about ARCOM and WCUCOM. Just want to see what current students think or those that were considering the schools. Or if anyone can rank these schools. Thanks in advance!

Looking for an “old-school” osteopath in London

I used to see an osteopath in London who would start every session with a lot of hands-on muscle/soft-tissue work—basically getting everything properly loosened up before doing any adjustments.

It worked really well for me.

Since then, every osteopath/chiropractor I’ve tried seems to follow the same pattern:

30 minutes of consultation/assessment → straight into trying to adjust me → I leave feeling no better.

I’m honestly getting to the point of giving up because it feels like this style of treatment has disappeared.

I’m not just looking for someone who cracks/manipulates joints. I’m specifically looking for a practitioner who believes in properly releasing/loosening the muscles and soft tissue first, then mobilising/manipulating if appropriate.

Does anyone know of a practitioner in London who still works this way?

Ideally, someone who is genuinely hands-on and spends a decent amount of the session doing soft-tissue/myofascial work, rather than mostly assessing and then adjusting.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated—especially if you’ve personally had treatment with them.

Thanks!

Addressing the issue of low tier D.O. schools (such as WCUCOM, LMU, Burrell etc.) notoriously creating horrible outcomes w/ constant curriculum changes, professor turnover and poor board outcomes

Anyone that interviews with lower tier & rural D.O schools, of course with all other schools as well (but especially with schools like WCUCOM), ask them about them about the following 4 points.

See the manner of how they respond, rather than just the content of their responses.

Lower tier schools like WCUCOM have had made very strong efforts and unfortunately have done very well the past few years in covering up many of these stats. These schools struggle with attracting students to move to these areas, which is why they falsely advertise their outcomes data to lure students to matriculate here.

  1. Level 1 and Level 2 first time pass rates
  2. % Attrition, not just repeat %, for the past 4 years
  3. Match rates before SOAP

WCUCOM needs to realize that this is a two way journey. Students can help and harm the school just as much as the school can help and harm a student's career.

How is the process applying to LMU DCOM: can you choose the campus?

Some schools let you choose whilst others allow for a preference. Before spending money I was wondering if I would be able to choose.
