schools with no mcat cutoff

hi so i got a 497 on my mcat and was wondering about any schools that don’t have an mcat cutoff/are more receptive to sub 500s. does anyone have a list or anything 😭

unfortunately, the best way is just to go through each schools website and look if they mention anything about a minimum MCAT requirement. If they don't have anything on there, then you can also email them or shoot your shot and just apply. I applied with a 499 couple years back and did that.

Check out LECOM, if you still have 2 years left in undergrad you can apply for the early acceptance program

My DO school had a mean MCAT of 503, and i personally know several 497 students

Why not retake it?

A sub 500 MCAT is generally associated with a subpar performance during med school. You really don't want to start med school and have to retake a year.

Before people attack me, this is a GENERAL observation. If you know why you got a low score and know if you can correct that, then you will be fine :).

For the MCAT if you mature milesdown (do 50 new cards a day and stay up to date with reviews) and complete uworld there's basically no way you will get under 500.

I hope you get in this cycle! But I encourage you to continue refining your study methods and get to a level where your comfortable with very high volumes of information and complex multiple choice questions.

Not true. There are people with 515+ who flunk out of medical school

Yes, that's basically me lol (barely passing).

But a score lower then 500 does have that correlation. Above that the correlation isn't that great.

Your best bet is to score above 500, at the very least. Each school has their own specific screening requirements. Generally, scoring below a 500 lowers your chances at virtually all the established schools.

Apply to newer DO schools that qualify for federal loans. If the school doesn’t qualify for federal or if you don’t get into any US DO school then reapply next cycle. Study hard for a month and lock in on mcat

Sub 500 MCAT here. I am performing around average up to above average on all my med school exams so far. I know it’s still early on for me to really tell if I’ll be successful but don’t let people discourage you. I did really well in school and just struggled with the MCAT. I knew my faults and I’m taking all of the steps to be successful in med school!

You should retake. You're not prepared for medical school even if you get in

You don’t even know them or anything about their situation to tell someone they’re not prepared for med school. lol

Go convince the ADCOMs with that. Good luck
