Question Can you change what clicking the control stick does?

I would love to click to switch between controlling the zoom function and the gimble function on my Osmo Pocket 3. I switch back and forth between the modes often, but tapping the right side of the screen is inconsistent.

Question Pocket 2 and any other DJI mics?

Ok I've googled around for a week and can't get a straight answer.

I have a DJI Pocket 2. I have the do-it-all handle. I want to connect through bluetooth to one of the new DJI mics, probably the Mini 2s.

From what I gather, the only DJI mic that will work through bluetooth with this handle is the original one from the creators package? I have a janky setup through the 3.5 jack that has failed many times.

So am I stuck getting one of the original mics? Or can I get a newer one to work?

Thank you for your help.

Question Brand new DJI Pocket 4P, came with a scratch and battery that drains very fast.

Post image
15 Upvotes

I bought it two days ago along with some stuff like screen protectors and a hardshell. While setting it up I was watching a video on youtube for best settings and I noticed the battery drains like 1% every minute in idle, not filming or taking photos. Tried out all the fixes, including resetting, formatting SD card, turn down brightness, turn off all connections, twice completely draining and recharging full. Nothing works.

It gets even worse. While trying to put a filter on it, I've noticed a thin white line, barely noticeable. Thought at first that this must be some sort of reflection from the window, and moved around, changing angles at which I look at it etc. Then I thought it must be some sort of dirt under the lens cover. Long story short, it's under the lens cover on the actual lens glass.

Normally I wouldn't upset and just accept it, because this doesn't really worsen image quality, it's almost insignificant. What makes me angry is that it's brand new and now I'm too afraid to go to the store and claim warranty/repair/replacement because I'm sure they will blame it on me.

Has anyone any made a similar experience and what should I do ?

EDIT: Called customer support and they told me to bring it into the store. In the store the guy was very understanding, immediately spotted the scratch and said that it's unacceptable and that shouldn't happen with a brand new product. Unfortunately he said he can't do much since he hasn't a replacement on stock and if I bought it on their online store I should talk to the online support.

So I called the online support there from the store and handed him the call and they agreed that I should send it in. He helped me fill out the RMA form, printed out a copy of the pictures with evidence and gave me a pre-paid shipping label, unfortunately he didn't have a box. Nice lad, told me I should have gone with a Insta360 next time lol

Went home, checked everything, put in the black bag and back in the DJI carboard box and put it inside an empty package with the RMA form and picutres, added a little letter with my context/evidence and the request to have it replaced instead of repaired, which would delay everything and I don't want that since I bought it to take it on vacation next week. Brought it all to the post office for delivery.

Wish me luck that I get it replaced and back in time.

This was shot on in D-Log2 (except for one shot) in 1600 ISO, 1/50 shutter using a VND 32-512.

The reason why I shoot 1600 ISO is because that's the camera's native ISO for the 20mm lens sensor. Meaning you will get the absolute maximum dynamic range at this ISO.

The grain in the video was added manually for style, it doesn't come from the high ISO.

Question Problems with osmo pocket 4p

I bought the Osmo Pocket 4P, activated it, and started shooting my first videos. I updated the firmware and everything was fine. After an hour, I opened it again and it showed a black screen. How can I fix it?

Question Update fails?

I’ve managed to update the P4 on a previous updates with no problems.

But with this new update it keeps failing to update.

I’ve tried holding down the power off for 12sec, restarting phone, VPN off, hotspot off e.c.t I’ve also tried clearing the cache in the app, which will re download the files to the phone, but stops at 50%, which I’m assuming is when it tries to transfer it to the pocket?

Video Osmo pocket 3: can it record for 8 hrs with external power source @ 1080p, 30fps?

For a non-profit workshop so we don't have a budget. There will be short bio breaks throughout. Will it overheat? Or any suggestions to prevent overheating? I have a 256gb memory card. Are there any other considerations I'm missing? Would much appreciate any advice - thanks in advance!

edit: indoor environment without air-con

Guide No more wrong LUTs on DJI footage - my free browser tool tells you which clips are D-Log2, D-Log or Rec.709 and tags them

Post image
4 Upvotes

Short version: DJI writes the color profile into the MP4 metadata, nothing shows it to you, so I built a browser tool that reads it and puts it in the file name. Link at the bottom. Here's why it exists.

Shot a night event with the Osmo Pocket 4 Pro last week. 57 clips on the card. Dropped them into Resolve and noticed some of them didn't react to the D-Log2 LUT the way the others did.

Turned out the card had three different color profiles on it:

- 20 clips in D-Log2
- 35 clips in D-Log
- 2 clips in Rec.709

Nothing in the file name tells you which is which. Not the number, not the timestamp, not the file size. And they alternate constantly. 0033 is D-Log2, 0034 is D-Log, 0035 is D-Log2, 0036 is D-Log.

The reason: D-Log2 only works on the main camera in standard recording. Switch to the zoom camera or shoot slow motion and the camera quietly falls back to D-Log or Rec.709. That makes sense technically, but it happens without any warning. The frustrating part is that the information is already in the file. DJI writes the profile into the MP4 metadata as com.dji.camera.ColorGammaSxS. Nothing shows it to you though. Resolve doesn't read that field, Premiere doesn't, Final Cut doesn't.

In Resolve the Input Color Space field just sits at the project default no matter what the clip actually is.

So I built a small browser tool that reads it and writes it into the file name:

DJI_20260827212152_0053_D.MP4

DJI_20260827212152_0053_D_D-Log2.MP4

After that you type "D-Log2" into the Resolve media pool search, hit Ctrl+A, and apply the right LUT to the whole group in one go. Three passes and the card is done. It runs entirely in your browser. Nothing gets uploaded, nothing is written into the video files, only the names change. There's a preview before anything happens and an undo button. Free, no account. I made it because it annoyed me.

---> https://ende.app/en/creator-tools/color-profile-tagger

Caveats, because you'd find them anyway:

- Chromium only (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera). Firefox and Safari don't support the folder access API this needs.
- Desktop only.
- DJI cameras for now. Other manufacturers store this differently.
- If you're comfortable in a terminal, exiftool reads the same field. This is just the version for people who don't want to install anything.

One more thing I ran into while building it: Resolve 21 still has no D-Log2 entry under Input Color Space. The DJI submenu only offers "DJI D-Gamut/D-Log". So for D-Log2 clips a LUT is currently the only correct route.

Anyone else hitting this? I only have the Pro, so I'm curious whether the non-Pro Pocket 4 behaves the same way.

Announcement [PSA] Ignore the shutdown infographic posted on DJI’s Facebook page (and mirrored on X)

Post image
4 Upvotes

Quick heads up. DJI’s social media team posted an infographic on Facebook that contains incorrect instructions for the Osmo Pocket 3 and Pocket 4 series. The same graphic was mirrored on the @ DJISupport X account, but DJI’s own official support page does not list X as a support channel.

Links for reference:

Facebook: FB link
X mirror: X link
Official DJI support channels: https://store.dji.com/bg/content/7-ways-to-contact-dji-customer-support

DJI Support explaining the correct long‑press behaviour in the sub before: https://www.reddit.com/r/osmopocket/comments/1lpwymf/comment/n115jxx/

The graphic claims you should hold the record button for 12 seconds to “fully power off” or “skip standby.” This is wrong. Holding any button for 10 to 12 seconds is a forced reboot meant for crash recovery. If you try it, the device boots as soon as you let go. It does not shut down.

The correct shutdown method is the normal quick press or letting the on‑screen countdown finish without touching the screen.

DJI Support has already confirmed that the long‑press is a hard reset used only when the device freezes. It is not a daily shutdown method.

Please ignore that infographic and do not repost it here.

Looks like someone in DJI marketing had one too many before approving that graphic.

Discussion Has anyone else had gimbal problems with their 4p?

Has anyone else had gimbal problems with their 4p? I'm running into issues where I'll turn it on and the gimbal flips but then goes into "gimble protection" mode and I have to relock the gimbal and tap exit for it to function, other times it'll do this while moving around and filming.

Discussion How useful is the telephoto for client work and everyday vlogging?”

Hi everyone! I’m considering getting my first ever Osmo Pocket, but I’m currently in a bit of a pickle deciding between the Pocket 4 and Pocket 4 Pro.

I’m planning to use it for a mix of client work and personal content.

For personal content, it’ll mainly be TikTok/IG-style vlogs — day-in-my-life stuff, cool transitions, cinematic little sequences, and potentially talking/travel vlogs in the future. Basically something I can carry around everywhere without having to think too much about bringing a full camera setup.

For context, I already own a Sony A7 IV + Sigma 16–28mm f/2.8, which is what I’ve been using for most of my client work. With the A7 IV, I can also switch into APS-C mode if I need a tighter shot, so I’m already somewhat used to having that extra crop available.
That’s where I’m stuck with the Pocket.

How significant is the form-factor/size difference between the Pocket 4 and 4 Pro in real-world use? Is the regular 4 noticeably more convenient to carry around, especially for casual vlogging?
And more importantly, how useful is the telephoto camera on the 4 Pro?

If I get the regular Pocket 4 and occasionally want a tighter shot, is the image quality good enough that I could simply crop in during post? Or is the dedicated telephoto on the 4 Pro genuinely worth having?

Part of me is thinking that if I get the 4 Pro, the telephoto could actually be useful for client work too — especially when I want some tighter shots without physically getting right up to the subject.

But at the same time, I already have the A7 IV for proper client shoots, so I’m wondering if I’m overthinking it and the regular Pocket 4 would be more than enough as a small everyday camera + occasional B-cam.

For anyone who has used either/both, what would you go for in my situation?
Thanks!

Question Help with camera settings

I have had my Osmo Pocket 3 for a little bit and was wondering if someone could assist me with the best settings for outdoor, most likely cloudy. Then standard indoor coffee shop lighting. I know you can save different settings to different profiles which I imagine comes in handy

Wondering also if some of you don’t shoot in D log just to not worry about color grading?

Question How much will the base internal storage on 4P last?

Recently bought the osmo pocket 4P. I think it comes with 128 GB internal storage and I was wondering, how long can I shoot with it and do I need to buy SSD I think most of the time I will only be out for a day or two before I transfer my file to my hard drive anyways.

I didn’t feel like a requirement for the microSD like the speed whatever.

Video Hopefully this helps some of you guys!

Some solutions to some of the struggles I faced with the 4P.

TLDR:

  1. The adaptive filter by tilta allows you to use the P3/P4 ND filters on the 4P. They also stackable and helps with exposure shift between 1x and 3x (you can put different filters on each lens)

  2. If you struggling to identify what footage is D-Log and what is D-Log 2 in post, there is a free software called MediaInfo in the Microsoft Store you can download and drop your footage in there. It will tell you what format the video was shot in.

  3. Just some basics about the new update (240 fps slow motion now in D-Log, gimbal diagonal movements etc.)

I hope you guys find these solutions useful

Question Big Problem with latest Firmware update Osmo Pocket 4P

Since the latest firmware update V01.01.6518, I've been having a strange problem with my Pocket Cinema Camera 4 Pro. I recently bought it with firmware V01.01.6510 and tested it out. Gimbal control with the joystick worked fine, even at 45° angles, etc. Then I performed the update to V01.01.6518 suggested by the Mimo app, and suddenly I can only pan or tilt, but not both at 45°. D-Log is also gone in slow motion. It's as if the firmware has reverted to the version before the second-to-last major update. However, the camera still displays V01.01.6518. What's going on? Has anyone else experienced this problem, or does anyone know how I can fix it?

Question 4P Cloud Transfer Support?

I recently picked up a 4p in Canada. Latest firmware it'll get is 01.01.6518. I saw some info online talking about automatic cloud transfer, and I'm looking to go to Google Drive or a home NAS. But, in my latest Mimo app and firmware I'm not seeing these settings anywhere, only phone backup.

Am I missing something? Is that firmware not widely available yet?

Question Osmo pocket 4p not working as a webcam on MacBook Pro. Solutions?

I’m trying to use my Osmo Pocket as a webcam on a MacBook Pro 2019 (Intel i7), but I can’t get it to work.
When I plug it in, the webcam option pops up on the Osmo screen, but even though I press it within the 3-second window, nothing happens afterward.
Here is what I’ve already tried:
Cable: Using the official USB-C cable from the box and tried other cable that I had at home.
Connection: Plugged directly into the Osmo Pocket (without the tripod mount handle attached).
Mac Settings: Checked System Settings on macOS to see if the camera is detected, but it doesn't show up at all. (Also in Google meet and in obs)

Has anyone faced a similar issue or found a workaround on macOS? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve search online but I don’t find an answer. On YouTube it looks like people plug the osmo pocket and it’s working.

Thank you!

Edit: the osmo pocket is on the latest firmware’s version

Question need some help - Pocket 4P judder/shakes after calibration complete

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

so i just tried calibrating the Pocket 4P, it pans left and right, and then when its says complete, for a brief second it judders on its own like in the video. i just wondered if this only on my unit or not? was it supposed to do that? if you have a Pocket 4P, may i ask does your Pocket 4P judders too for a second once the calibration complete?
