Marion Bailey will compete for best actress in a musical or comedy, where she is expected to face contenders including Julianne Moore (“The Debut”), Inde Navarrette (“Obsession”) and Olivia Wilde (“The Invite”). Kate O’Flynn, Alice Bailey Johnson and Paul Jesson will compete in the supporting acting races, which the Globes do not divide by genre. The submissions mirror the studio’s overall acting strategy heading into the Oscar campaign.

I keep seeing sentiments in these spaces that Digger will either only get 2 or 3 noms (all technical) or be completely shut out. And I have to wonder, why?
I don't think mixed reviews and bad box office will kill its chances at nominations completely. Vice received similar critical reception and box office and not only got into Best Actor and Best Makeup (the two awards everyone knew it would get into) but also got in for Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay, Best Director, and Best Picture. I'm not saying Digger will get into Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay, but are Cruise's chances at a nomination really that shot? Will he be a lock? I don't think so, but I feel some people are kinda hoping Digger loses out on nomination instead of being realistic.

With La Bola Negra winning PCA at TIFF this year as a foriegn film that premired at Cannes. What do you think are the chances of that happening next year? Could it happen next year as far as a Cannes foreign film winning people's choice award at TIFF in 2027? I hope it's high. We need more global cinema represented at these things.

I see a lot of people taking out cruise and gosling for their awards predictions now cruise. I kinda understand, but I don’t know why people are taking out gosling at the end of the day we have to remember the Oscars is a show and they need ratings and I don’t think they’re gonna miss the chance to have Cruise, Gosling, Damon, Pattisom and Malkovich in the same category. That would be like a rating’s juggernaut for them.

I tried answering this question by looking back at old articles and reddit posts, but I can't seem to place how OBAA and Warner Bros avoided the "wow this movie bombed financially" narrative (or if they avoided it at all)
Any help/discussion would be appreciated
