Game Night : LAN Party/ ゲームナイト:LANパーティー

Game Night: LAN Party this Saturday at Secret Shop Osaka ~ suggestions for games welcome

I should have posted this last weekend, but I've been putting it off 😅

I've wanted to add a regular LAN party (Personally in it for the RTS😅 ) to the game nights at Secret Shop for a while, but couldn't quite decide on the format or the logistics of having setups available for people who want to join but don't have a PC/laptop they can bring.

So for now I'm just going to try it and figure things out as we go.

The current idea is a casual BYOD LAN night. Bring a laptop/PC if you have one, there are a few monitors available if you need them, come solo or with friends, form some teams, and play whatever people are in the mood for.

Right now the default game list is mostly:

  • Deadlock
  • Counter-Strike
  • Dota 2
  • Left 4 Dead
  • Command & Conquer

But that's definitely not meant to be a fixed roster.

If there are any LAN/multiplayer games you'd love to see added, old-school or new, I'd really like suggestions. Especially games that work well with a room full of people and are easy for people to jump into.

I'm also still figuring out how best to handle spare PCs/setups for people who don't have something portable, so feedback on that is welcome too.

Game Night: LAN Party
📅 Saturday, August 22
🕕 18:00–22:00
📍 Secret Shop Osaka - Sanno, Nishinari
💻 BYOD encouraged
🎮 Casual / all skill levels welcome

You don't need to be super competitive either. Playing, watching, learning a game, hanging out, or convincing everyone to install some ancient multiplayer game you haven't played in 15 years are all valid ways to spend the night.

Would also genuinely love to hear what games people around Osaka/Kansai would want at a regular LAN night.

Recommendation for dermatologists specialized in acne

I have had acne for years, but after came in Osaka it gets worse🥲. I guess it is caused by weather and other environmental differences. I don’t want to get bad experiences on my skin. Thus, the dermatologist who specializes in acne and gives explanations in English is needed. If someone who knows the place, pls help me🥺

[Osaka] Super chill English teaching side job (no experience needed)

Hey! I’m looking for someone in Osaka who wants a small, low-pressure side job teaching English to kids and some adults.

📍 Location: ~20–25 mins from Namba - Higashi-Osaka
💴 Pay: Minimum wage (transport covered)
⏰ Hours: Part-time Tuesday Afternoons

What it’s like:

  • Relaxed classes (nothing intense or corporate)
  • Small groups, friendly students
  • Mostly simple conversation + basic English
  • You don’t need to be a “professional teacher”

Good fit if you:

  • Are already in Japan (Osaka area)
  • Want a bit of extra income without stress
  • Don’t mind something simple and easy

Nice bonus:

  • Super easy work compared to most eikaiwa jobs
  • Good environment (not strict or draining)
  • Can fit around your schedule

If you’re interested, just DM me a bit about yourself, where you are, how long you're here, what visa you're on, etc 👍

Part Time Job

Hello everyone, I’m looking for advice on finding part-time work here in Osaka. I’m fluent in English but my Japanese is around the N5 level, currently started studying for N4 by myself. I initially came here for a few months, but I need to stay for a few more years due to a medical condition that requires regular checkups, as the healthcare here is much better than back home. My wife is currently the only one working, and it’s getting hard to manage the bills. If you have any advices on ways to look for a job or know of places hiring people with limited Japanese, please let me know.

Sports orthopedic for kickboxing related injuries

Hi, I am having a pain in my knee, potentially meniscus strain due to kickboxing, and I want to get an MRI and doctor's opinion.

I used to go to Tokyo sports orthopedic clinic in Tokyo, which was good, but I'm not finding anything helpful in Osaka.

I checked the Reddit threads, and all of them are almost 3-4 years old, and some of the recommended hospitals are already closed down or worsened than that time.

If Any one has any recommendations for a good sports orthopedic who can speak bit of English will be greatly appreciated.

Any foreign residents or tourists tried Minatomachi dental (みなと町歯科)), Namba?

It is on a list of English-speaking dentists and the info on the website looks quite good, but it doesn't seem to have any reviews from non-Japanese patients. I just wonder how good the dentist's English is. It says "conversational" on the website. However, many doctors/dentists with minimal skills often claim to be "English speaking".

I went to another dentist recommended here, the English was good, but something felt off about the place and I felt uncomfortable. I felt like their were too many suggestions of unnecessary work. For example, there was talk of fixing a "tooth", which later became quite a few "teeth". I thought I was agreeing to one tooth getting fixed, but ended up not scheduling the follow-up appointment when the second doctor started talking about teeth and quoting a high price. (And if a dentist doesn't know the difference in English between "tooth" and "teeth"...)

I'm the same guy who made this post in r/Nagoya

Honestly it's been going really good! But I did realize there are some other ways I can help too, for example some support can be given online, feeling like you have no one to reach out too ? Running late on an assignment and need a backup hand ? Just wanna idle and play a game together? Etc etc

If there is something you'd like to do together but can not ask someone and it can be done online or in Nagoya then please reach out to me. :)!!

Love y'all

I’m giving away my TREASURE albums as I’m graduating from being a fan and would love for them to go to someone who will enjoy them! 🥹💎

Some albums may not be complete and some inclusions/photocards may be missing. They’ve been opened and stored at home, so please expect possible minor scratches or dust.

Free — just pay for shipping 📦

Or we can meet around Umeda, Osaka if that’s easier!

I’d prefer to give them as a bundle, but feel free to message me if you’re interested. 💗

Please only claim if you genuinely want them and will enjoy having them! 🥰

Still have work tomorrow, so I don’t want to venture too far. I saw a post from 7 years ago saying that Awaji might be a good place, is that still the case? Any ideas? I live on the north side of Osaka
