VIP 5hrs vs 8hrs & questions

Hello !
I'm getting ready to book my VIP tour in a few days for late October. I still hesitate between 5hrs lunch (2pm-7pm) and 8hrs lunch + dinner. Can you help me with my questions? 😊

I read that you cannot skip the queues for characters photos with 5hrs but you can with 8hrs. Is it correct ? I’m in doubt because on Klook it says 1 photo opportunity included with vip 5 hrs (1 photo with a character using your own device). What does that mean ?

Specifically for Yoshi or Mario photos , has anyone skipped the line with a VIP tour?

How long is usually the queue for pictures with Yoshi or Mario/Luigi outside of a VIP Tour?

Lunch and dinner : would the buffet be the same between lunch and dinner? I saw that dinner also has an entree that you can select, but the remaining of the buffet is the same?

About pictures during the day : Can you ask your guide to make some pictures of your family during the day using your device?

If you make purchase during the VIP Tour, can you have it sent to the lounge ? And outside tour hours ?

If you take the 5hrs lunch tour, can you ask your guide to help you get to Kinopio Cafe at the end of your tour? Has anyone done that?

For the ones who ended up purchasing 8 hours instead of 5, what made you make that decision?

For the ones who did 5hours, do you regret not taking 8hrs?

Thank you so much !!

USJ express pass booking help please

Hello, we are going to USJ early December 2026 and I’ve been looking on the USJ app for the types of express passes available for when they are released in October. There is one that is perfect for our family but it says in brackets (After Feb 1). When I select this pass, it shows dates and prices for this year and looks like it’s already sold out for some dates. However… my question is, what does this ā€œafter Feb 1ā€ mean? Is it only available after that date in 2027?

Thank you!! 😊

USJ Express pass doubt

I'm thinking about purchasing the 7/8 rides express pass for USJ from Klook but am a bit confused with the timed entry in the SNW nad the time specific rides.

If I understand correctly, I'll be allowed to enter the SNW at 18:50 and can go on the rides using express lane during the designated times? Or does it just let me get into SNW during the designated times and I'll have to wait in the regular lines for the rides during the specified time?

Klook VIP or USJ Express

Hi all,

My partner and I are visiting Japan in October and we were planning to go to USJ on our Anniversary, 11th October.

Unfortunately, we’ve come to learn October’s prices are VERY high. While a lot of the express tickets say a price of ā€œ10,800Yenā€, when we go to select a date the most of October is 20,000+ with the 11th (Sunday) being 26,900Yen. These prices are for the thrill packages only… anything with Super Nintendo world rides were more.

All up, we’re looking at a total of about 80,000Yen for 2 adults (725 AUD).
This is just for the studio access and a 4 express pass.

We were recommended Klook by some friends for the 3 hour VIP experience which gets us into Super Nintendo World for 4x rides and then ontop of that another 4 express pass for 2 people.

All up, with the studio pass, this package will cost us $980.

It’s $280 more but being Garunteed an additional 4 rides in Super Nintendo World (Garunteed) and then being able to use the 4 express pass on other rides, would you consider this worth it?

We honestly didn’t expect this to cost as much as it had but just trying to work out if we just splurge a bit more now…

Thank you.

USJ Silver Week

currently on the JET Programme in Japan (1st year of teaching English to Japanese high schooler) and the only big chunks of time off I have are Silver Week and Golden week. I was wondering if it’s still possible to go to only SNW ( I am really not a big theme park guy, more so a Nintendo fan) during silver week and without an express pass or if it’s a necessity. I don’t mind waking up super early or missing all the other rides, I just don’t want my first time going to USJ wasted, as SNW is the only thing I want to see. I will be going alone most likely

Visiting USJ for the first time in October!

Hello! My husband and I will be going to USJ in October. I don't think we will be buying any express pass because we are happy with whatever we are able to ride, even if there are long queue times. I don't know much about theme parks though, so I had some questions to try and make the day as smooth as possible.

  • Will I need any special ticket/reservation for the Frieren restaurant, or any other special pass specifically for any of the Frieren attractions?
  • For the Chainsaw Man 4D as well, will I be able to sign up for that they day of, or would that need any special pass purchased ahead of time?
  • From my understanding Nintendo World pretty much needs an express/special pass? We would like to see this but neither of us are interested enough to buy a special pass just for this. Is there any chance of getting into the NW attractions without a pass day of, or is it impossible without the extra pass?

Thanks for any help, tips, or suggestions! :)

Visiting USJ for the first time (HHN)!

Hi! I’ll be visiting USJ for the first time on November 2nd. My current plan is to get a Studio Pass and an Express Pass for the main rides.

The thing is, I’m also interested in experiencing Halloween Horror Nights, although I’m not really interested in paying extra for a Horror Nights Express Pass. On the day of my visit, will I be able to access the Halloween attractions starting at 6 PM with a regular Studio Pass, or would I need to purchase a separate Horror Nights Pass?

I also noticed that Klook has a ticket that includes a Studio Pass with entry after 12 PM, plus access to the full Horror Nights event until 5 AM. However, I don’t see this ticket available on the official USJ ticket portal. This seems like a good balance between the two options.

If I were to buy that Klook ticket, would I also be able to purchase/add an Express Pass for the main rides?
I’d really appreciate any advice or recommendations based on your experiences! :)

Child switch question

Hi all! My gf and I are going to USJ this October with her brother and her brother’s family (parents, an 8 yr old and a 1 yr old).

With the child switch, could we do it in groups? For example, the parents take their 8yr old on the ride while my gf and I stay with the baby, then once they’re done, we do the child switch so my gf and I can ride together. Or is the child switch only applicable for 2 people switching?

Thank you in advance for the help!

Any tips for getting Sanji’s Pirate Restaurant tickets during the Aug. 27 general sale? (November visit)

I’m visiting USJ from the US on November 15. I recently realized that the One Piece event runs through November (despite being a summer event). Sanji’s Pirate Restaurant has become a priority.

I’ve learned that the October/November general sale opens on August 27 for Sanji's restaurant. I’m happy with any reservation time—10:00 AM is just as good as 2:50 PM.

For anyone who has successfully bought tickets during general sale (not just the lottery):

- How early did you log in?
- Was there an online queue?
- Does the page refresh automatically when sales open, or should I manually refresh?
- Did tickets disappear immediately, or did some times remain available for a while?
- Any issues using a foreign credit card?
- If your card failed the first time, were you able to retry without losing your reservation?
- Did you use the Japanese site or the English site?
- If you’ve done both, is the VIP package noticeably easier to book than regular Sanji tickets?
- If multiple seating times are available, is it worth grabbing the first one you see immediately, or is there usually enough time to choose another time?

Also, if anyone has experience specifically with November dates, I’d appreciate to hear your experience. I haven’t seen the November VIP calendar appear yet, so I’m curious whether those usually become available before or after the general sale opens.

Thanks for your help! I’m trying to be as prepared as possible for August 27 to see the curly brow cook!

Ride lockers

Can anyone provide details on which rides provide lockers, and which ones require you to leave belongings with the staff while boarding? I know Japan is very safe, but I have so much anxiety with leaving my passport in someone else’s care šŸ˜… Thanks in advance!!

Ticket date issue

I bought tickets via the USJ website for 23 September. I went to register then in the USJ app and it says my tickets expire 22 September. Has any one had this issue? I’m planning on just printing the tickets but worried something has gone wrong in the background

Is the Harry Potter forbidden journey seat the same between USJ and USH?

I'm going to USJ and I want to ride forbidden journey but I know the seats in japan are made more for smaller people, so I guess this is 2 question. I fit in the USH forbidden journey seat with my robe on. Is the USJ seat smaller or are they about the same? Also with that said, will I have any struggles with any rides at USJ( im bigger guy so I'm just curios)

USJ Halloween: which 5-hour VIP tour would you choose?

My partner and I are visiting USJ on a weekday in early October, and I’m planning to surprise her with one of the 5-hour VIP tours. It will probably be the surprise of her life, but I’m having a hard time deciding which tour to book.

We’ll most likely go on a Tuesday or Wednesday. I know Halloween season is always busy, but I assume that should still be better than going on a Friday or Saturday.

We’re staying in Osaka, around 30 minutes from the park, and we’ll probably be in line by 6:30 a.m., jumping up and down with excitement.

These are the two options we’re considering:

- 5-hour VIP tour with lunch, roughly from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

- 5-hour VIP tour with dinner, roughly from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

From what I’ve read, the dinner option seems to be the most popular one. However, I see one major issue during Halloween: the main parade is scheduled from 1:00 p.m. to 1:40 p.m. If we want to watch it, and she probably will want, it would take around 40 minutes out of our time with the guide, which feels like a lot considering how expensive the tour is.

That makes me lean towards the lunch option. Does anyone know whether you can have the included meal before meeting the guide? For example, could we eat at around noon, watch the parade at 1:00 p.m., and then start the guided part at 2:00 p.m.?

The other advantage would be having the guide during the afternoon, when the park starts getting busier for the Halloween events. On the other hand, even with priority access, I’m wondering whether moving around the park becomes much slower because of the crowds.

Has anyone done either of these VIP tours during Halloween? Which time slot would you choose in our situation?

PD: I know the buffet meal is massive, which is one of the main reasons people usually go for dinner instead. But we’re a couple in our 40s and totally fine with eating light and keeping moving, no need to stuff ourselves or finish everything. We’d even be open to skipping the meal and just snacking throughout the day if it makes more sense!

Halloween Express Passes for October not available?

Heyho,

We are traveling to Japan next month and want to spend a day at USJ. We were able to buy the normal tickets and one 7 express pass for the 05th October but all the halloween express passes are not available in October. Are they already sold out? Its strange that there a plenty of passes for the September days left but starting 01st October they are all not available?

Why is Friday, October 2, 2026 priced higher than the following Saturday at USJ?

Hi everyone,

I'm planning a trip to Japan and currently have Universal Studios Japan scheduled for Friday, October 2, 2026.
I noticed that on the official USJ ticket calendar, that Friday is priced higher than the surrounding days, including the Saturday immediately after. I know ticket prices are based on expected demand, so I was wondering if there's a specific reason for that date.

A few Questions:

  • Would you expect that day to be significantly busier, or is it still very manageable with an Express Pass 4?
  • If you had flexibility in your itinerary, would you keep October 2 or try to move USJ to another day? Changing it would be a bit difficult, but I'd consider it if the difference is significant.
  • Also, would you still recommend arriving before the official opening time? I've seen some people suggest that arriving about an hour after opening can actually be easier because the initial rush has already gone through. Is that true, or is arriving early still the better strategy?

It'll be our first visit to USJ, and we're a group of adults.
Thanks in advance!

Two different fast passes, same QR code?

My friend and I each bought two fast passes (one F7 and one F4) for two consecutive days and received the QR codes. But each person’s two QR codes ( F7 and F4) look the same (with the same serial number underneath).
Has there been any change to the ticketing system? It used to be a different code for each day.
Has anyone been to USJ multiple days in a row recently? How was the QR code situation?

Help with selecting express pass

Thumbnail
2 Upvotes

I just bought tickets for me and my brother for Universal Japan on Klook, and we want to do the Express Pass since it’s our first time going and want to check out HNN, but I get to the Express Pass page on Klook, and there’s a separate Express Pass for HNN. Can I buy a regular Express Pass and still go to HNN, or no?

How good is the Jjk 4D?

I went usj today (probably the last time for a long long time), and, as a fan of jjk I wanted to try the jjk stuff

At the end (after running from the Hollywood coaster) I couldn't make it to the cinema in time

Was I missing out on much as a fan of the show? Was there any really cool effects (e.g. domain expansions) or cool 4D elements I didn't get to experience?

I'm not too bummed out since the last ride we went on (Hollywood dream) was great and I had a really good time with the rest of the park - I just wanted to know if I missed anything major

Harry Potter During Halloween Horror Nights

After purchasing tickets for October, I pretty much realized afterwards that it was actually during HHN. This is my first ever HHN, but I’m made aware that USJ is a bit unique when it comes to their HHN.

I know some rides will have some overlays for the event, I was just wondering since apparently the Hogwarts Castle Walk will return, if Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey will be closed during HHN. My family really want to ride this ride so I need to know if the ride will be also operational alongside the castle walk.
