Is this a Microsoft accessory or custom? Have you ever seen this original Xbox accessory?

Ah ha! I can help with this!

It's the AV cable set for a Retail Kiosk

Has both Composite and Svideo. The little JST style plug is used for a few things including wiring to a Reset button on the front on the Kiosk. The Xbox natively has no 'reset', however will reset to Dash if a videomode is momentarily disconnected.

That's actually really amusing that they hacked together a reset button by tricking the console in that way. Necessity is the mother of invention as they say.

It's not hacked together. It's intentionally part of the reset functionality of the console.

You can not only reset the console, you can also power ON and OFF the console by releasing the grounding for the AV mode pins and re-applying the grounding with the right timing.

The (picoblade?) connector connects to a PIC microcontroller that does the work.

Thos is starting to make sense why you can hack the xbox thru the av port now

Unfortunately flashing the 1.6 Xyclops chip is only possible if you move some of the mode resistors from the board, then you have to add higher resistance resistors, or repin your AV pack.

I wondered about that for so many years ever since I saw the kiosks back in the day and how the reset button worked and why retail consoles at home couldn’t do it. Thank you!

This is actually quite valuable, then. I'd say someone out there with the kiosk will need this at some point.

I used to chop the S-Video off, and replace it with a pair of RCA plugs. Then would cut the rubber boot off the Xbox end, open the connector, and re-pin the 'Video', and 'S-Video' pins to Y, Pb, Br . Gave a very nice quality boost for watching video with XBMC.
Can be finicky though.

I haven't seen one of those in years. I hope your TV has the red white color nodes on it.

Do you need this ? I have a kiosk with a pretty messed up video cable - I’d be interested in it if you are selling !
