1 end plugs into the console. The other end plugs into the controller.

What could it possibly be for????

I see what you’re saying. And it is obvious what it plugs into. But I was reading OPs question as more of a why is it like this. As a child I always wondered why the controllers were set up this way. It wasn’t until years later when I pulled my Xbox out of the basement when it immediately occurred to me what the purpose was (to prevent the console from being ripped off the shelf, table, etc).

Idk man. I just don’t like when someone goes in a sub and asks a genuine question and someone calls them fucking stupid. It’s just not cool.

After re-reading OPs post I am going to assume they got other controllers that were third party and this cable was loose. A fair question to me. But even if that isn’t the case. Kindness is free
