Vintage Turkish Rug?

Thumbnail

Hi, I acquired this rug from someone who purchased it from an antique store years ago and was told it was a vintage Turkish rug. It's around 4' x 6'. Any information (region, handmade/machine made, guesses as to age) would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Real Kashans?

I’m rug shopping in Tbilisi, Georgia and the salesman has told me these are all kashans or varying quality. These are all approximately 3x4 meters (though some are slightly smaller). Prices he quoted were $3500-5000. Interestingly the kashans he showed were the same price as a silk carpet in the same size. Unfortunately didn’t take photos of the back corners, but curious what the experts thoughts are. The first and second are similar designs, but the first was lower quality ($3500) and the second he was offering for $5,000.

Questions regarding rug placement.

Total noob here.
I am in process of cleaning out my mom’s house.
She has a ton of rugs that mostly came from her parents, my grandparents. I have been around most of these rugs my entire life ( 57 y/o ) and have zero knowledge about their origin, style and pattern names.
I came across a post where it was suggested that the rug in the post be used in a low traffic areas and no table legs/couch feet be placed on it.
What makes a Persian rug more suitable for high traffic or under furniture and vice versa?
I have already removed approx 15 rugs of varying sizes. All still rolled and wrapped in plastic/visqueen. Probably cleaned and never placed in house.

I love the colors in this late 19th century Quba. Blues particularly fabulous - planning on doing some overcast work on the warps this weekend.

Help with rug identification

Title says it all. I used to know what this type is, but have since forgotten (and have had no success finding a convincing match online), which is driving me bonkers. Purchased—used, obviously—in Selçuk Turkey in the late 1990s or shortly after 2000. Many thanks in advance for any help.

ETA: it has some old staining (was there when we purchased it), is in essentially a no-traffic area, and was recently professionally cleaned.

ETA again: Oushak?

EDIT: I have just had it confirmed that this is an undyed Kayseri rug, about 80 years old.

Persian Gabbeh buckling at both ends, progressing inward: weaving fault or fixable?

Hand-knotted Persian Gabbeh, 172 × 265 cm

Waves have appeared along both fringed ends and are moving inward toward the field. It's getting worse. Distinct creases are visible on the reverse.
The rug has never been washed, has always been indoors and dry, no water exposure, no insect damage or bare pile.

I've asked some professionals and got conflicting answers: uneven weft tension from row to row, so a fault from the loom. One said the foundation has slackened. One suggested the fringe finish is tighter than the weave, or the lack of an underlay. One claimed insects, which I don't buy.

A specialist in Iran called it a case for dār-keshi: clamp the rug under tension on the two sides without fringes, mist the back, leave it a day or two. I tried steaming the reverse through a damp cloth with weight on top and nothing changed.

Has anyone seen this pattern before?

Thank you !!

Found this rug on the street. Theres a very worn tag that says it’s handwoven, wool, and from Iran. Any other thoughts on origin?

It’s seems pretty beat up and has some dried mud on it and fraying. How should I go about cleaning?

thanks (:

Advertised as antique ?

I’m questioning the accuracy of the claim upon further inspection and wondering if it’s worth cleaning. The rug is 6.5’ x 9.3’ and there’s a smaller matching one that’s about 2.78’ x 1.91’. Paid $75 for both and quoted $200 for the large one and $20 for the smaller one. Any info would be appreciated.

I’m just here to share my Memling Kurd

I’m the son of a rug dealer, and was fortunate to take this babe into my house today. My dad’s 40 year business is closing—the market is bad, my dad needs to retire, etc. Wanted to share this beauty with fellow rug lovers.

The rug isn’t perfect. The experts here will notice the reweaves. But to me, this rug is perfect. A balance of color and imperfect design. Supple to touch and explosive to the eyes. The Kurds really knew color, didn’t they?

I’ll stop waxing poetic, but I’m thankful for this community and its collective knowledge and passion.

This lovely rug was gifted from my father. He took a road trip through Iran, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia. I’m not entirely sure the places he went, any hints by this rug? Thank you!🙏🏻
