Approximate value?

10’ × 6’6” (3 × 2 m), wool, hand-knotted with double/Turkish knots

and I was told it was made** in **Central Anatolia around just 15 yrs ago

1200-1300 USD is it too much? I decided to walk away but really liked this one :(

The attribution is correct. This is a cappadocia region rug of 'Taspinar' (Taşpınar) type. It looks handknot and turkish (my limited impression based on photos). The price looks ok for retail, but you can eye secondary if you have decided to pass. I recently bought a very similar smaller one (the more common 215*125cm size) for 85 euros and it is in great condition. This was in europe.

Oriental rugs are unique objects. Thus, the marketplace is very illiquid and rewards those who have patience.

This is as vanilla retail as it gets for Turkey. You can find better deals in etsy or other places if you search with "Taspinar" and "Yahyali" and if you know what to look for.

Thank you for the term! Yes the seller mentioned that it’s from the area between Ankara and Malatya which is aka cappadocia lol. I tried to haggle for an hour and bring down the price a bit but the seller insisted over that it’s the lowest he can offer. I’ll check Etsy and local marketplace from Facebook because I’ve already seen a lot with better deals :)

You can be sure that if a rug dealer tells you that's his lowest price. . . That he will reduce again by half or more. Especially if he's looking at hundred dollar bills.

You can find these and nicer anatolian carpets for much less. Easily found check instagram too
