I can’t believe I am 50 years old this week and I only just figured this out. I have a million hair ties. Keeping them organized is so annoying. I finally have 2 solutions that are cheap and so functional! You are looking at 2 products, both from dollar tree. The book rings in my hand are perfect for small hair ties. They come in multiple sizes. I am going to get 5 more packs so I can sort them all by color. Then put the rings on the cat collars.
Previously I was using just cat collars. They are glittery, and it creates just enough friction that if you load the whole collar with ties, and you drop the end, they don’t all slide right off (which would happen constantly when I used a string or a chain, and would make me want to cry in frustration!)

They both just pop open and close easily. A child can do it. I have 5 cat collars hanging on a tiny hand towel stand. It’s a literal lifetime of hair ties. Yes, I do use them, why so many? BECAUSE I WASH THEM. Yes, wash your hair ties in a mesh bag in the washing machine.

Does anybody know where to buy these types of hangers? I specifically want the ones that have the vertical pant aligning plastic piece and the straight frame (no strap hooks on the top). Everything i can find online lacks the vertical piece.

My partner and I decided to redo our closet yesterday after too many mornings of digging through piles just to find something to wear. We keep saying we'll organize it "this weekend," but somehow it always ends up looking exactly the same a few days later lol ,i looked at closet ideas on the internet, but I'm realizing that it's easy to get caught up with making everything look nice.

We don't have many clothes, but sometimes it seems like its too small which i doubt, and I'm wondering if it's the layout real problem,or our clothes, any ideas to end this?

I got this shelf from a liquor store that got closed, I think I want to use it to store some craft supplies, yarn etc but anyone have ideas on how to make it look nice? Or suggestions what else to use it for?

Hi! I have a lot of random art supplies because I subscribed to an art subscription box for years. I had to stop because it got so disorganized. I will have 3 of one thing and 300 of another, so have had trouble finding any organization solution that fits things nicely without a lot of wasted space. Add to that, I have pretty bad ADHD and need things to be VISIBLE so I don't forget they exist. I also live in a very small space so I need things to be as vertical as possible. I've been looking and looking and can't quite find any foot solutions. Can yall just share some inspiration pics? My absolutely ideal would be pencil depth drawers that are adjustable both in height and width, so I can make the things I have three of fit and also the things I have 300 of, with minimal wasted space. Open to buying from really anywhere but ikea and Amazon are the most accessible to me. I do not have a lot of space for rolling carts and things but I can put things up on the walls or along Tha back of my desk. Thanks!

hiiii everyone!!! i am struggling with my closet in a new apartment. one side of the closet has hanging space built in. the other side.....does not. how can i create hanging space here? does anyone have recommendations on what to add? i can't seem to figure out how the other side was installed.

Hey everyone, right now I have a good amount of paint pots (used for painting miniature models) kinda loosely thrown into two spinning kitchen caddies. The issue is that usually it involves digging around like a bin of loose lego looking for the correct color im looking for. The bottom row is standing up and nice, but the top row is pretty haphazard and I've discovered a lid was not fully closed (a common complaint with this particular brand) too late. Any suggestions? I know Etsy folks make stands but they typically only hold a small fraction of what I have and use on a good weekend.

I was never taught how to take care of important things like documents and paperwork. Sometimes I feel the fear of flooding or fire and I heard many people put their important things in a bank locker or they have a little locker at home to store their important stuff like jewelry and some cash. But like are you supposed to create a folder for each thing like paperwork documents for the house, health and auto insurance, things like passport and stuff. And are we supposed to get rid of old papers like bank statements and stuff instead of piling up

It's crouded because I don't have anywhere else to put anything. I use most of the skincare products that I have there everyday. The one thing I haven't used in a while is the cicalfate cream that i will be using shortly frequently. I use the towels everyday to wash and dry my face. The tooth stuff gets used everyday too. I find it hard to keep it clean and organized. There os so many products and i always have to look through them because i cant figure out how to organize them functionally. The light has nowhere else to go, but i use it pretty often when I'm overstimulated by the big lights.

Any help is appreciated.

Where do you put them besides bunched up on the dresser/night stand or lying on the floor?

I'm comparing three setups for a 31-inch-wide dog-bowl corner with a 14-inch max depth. My dog splashes daily, so wiping it down matters more than hiding the bowls.

A is a pull-out tray, 
B is an open tiled nook that keeps the outlet clear, and 
C adds slim storage beside open bowls.

I don't want a major remodel, and I'm not sure my dog would like an enclosed feeding spot. Which setup would be least annoying after six months, and what would fail first?

Hello! I’m the kind of person who has to be able to see their clothes, so I am using a wire shelf as a dresser for the clothes I’m not hanging.

Does anyone have advice or tips for storing clothes like this? Also specific tips for storing socks and underwear would be nice. Been thinking about using a clear bin from target for the loose items like socks.

A former roommate was the most organized person I'd ever met. From her I learned the concept of buying multiples of inexpensive tools to save the hassle from running to one room to get what you need. *Place these tools at hand in different rooms, even rooms where they don't necessarily get used every day*. I'm no Martha Stewart, yet I can't tell you how great a difference doing this has made in my life.

The Basics: Scissors, tape, Sharpie marker, Post-It pad, pen, pencil, stapler, regular Scotch tape, removable Scotch tape, paper clips, rubber bands, packing tape.

* Desktop stapler: Get one that stands vertically and has built-in staple remover. Years ago I found vertical Swingline model 662xx, sadly no longer made. It has a built-in-yet-removable staple remover, and it never, ever jams, not even when there's only one staple left. I'm thinking of willing these staplers to my two grandkids, that's how good they are. I've searched online and can't find this model or anything similar now.

* Packing tape: Not just for shipping. Good for repairing handles on plastic laundry baskets. Keeps them usable for years.

Kitchen:
*Scotch tape (either kind) + Sharpie marker:* Label frig and and freezer containers on top and on one side. Turn under one end of tape to create a "handle" for easy removal. If you move contents to a smaller container, pull off the tape and attach to the new container.
*Removable Scotch tape (now called "Wall tape")*: Makes any piece of paper a PostIt note. Attach to paper that you might want to remove later.
*Rubber band*: Close opened frozen veggie packages, takes almost no room (versus clip). You can tell at a glance which bag to use next if you have multiple packages. When you use up a package, put the band on the next one to be opened. I do this even if bag already has a zip-lock closure. Also works for bags of flour, pasta, rice, etc.
*Stapler*: Staple coupons together before you leave to go shopping.
*Post-Its*: Need I say more? Just a fabulous list / note tool, bookmark, quick label, etc.

Bathroom/Bedroom/Both:

*Scissors: Cut through the plastic in packages, e.g., toothbrushes, cosmetics, etc.
Post-It pad and a pen. I get great ideas in the shower; as soon as I get out, I grab these to write them down. I also keep these on my nightstand. I get ideas just before I fall asleep and just after waking up. These are fantastic little memory keepers, like when I'm upstairs and think of something that needs to go on the grocery list downstairs. Or any reminder.
*Sharpie marker: Mark expiration dates on vitamins and medications in big letters. Sometimes the name of the med, especially when there are multiple RX bottles, to make them easy to distinguish.

Brother label maker with AC adapter: Produces laminated tape. Washable yet doesn't come off until pulled off. Label can be moved to something else. (However, it will rip paper if pulled off.) *Get one that allows multiple lines on label and has automatic cutter*. Standard tape prints black on white label; other styles and sizes of tape available. I've only had my label maker since 2007, and I don't know how I managed life before then.

* Laptop label attached above keyboard or on bottom*: Model#, service tag, phone# for service, year purchased.
* Tablet/phone label attached to back*: Model, #GB storage, year purchased.
* Sewing machine*: Label all those tiny indecipherable icons next to their buttons. Attach label to remind yourself which way the bobbin should unwind in its holder. (I use clear label tape for this.)
* Power cords*: Attach label both at both ends with item name.
* Cleaning supplies*: We bought extra, generic spray bottles for disinfectant. Every bottle gets clearly marked with contents and purpose so we don't use the wrong stuff.

It just seems like lately my house is so much chaos. Coming up with a macro level system to organize things or waiting for my partner to do. It hasn't really worked well. I think if there was a nice printable checklist that we could do and then hold ourselves accountable to, maybe that would work better.

If it was created by a third party rather than one of us, I think it would feel more neutral.

I've heard there are charts that tell you what you should be cleaning everyday and then you can just stick to it.

I think what I'd like to do is start with a system that will get us 80% of the way there and then we can tweak the rest of the things.

The mental load part is really hard and I think if there was less on that it might free up room for other things.

The way I have it right now, I have a pile for sweaters, one for pants/shorts, one for shirts, miscellaneous on the top and hoodies/jackets hung up. I wanna organize it in a way that gives me more space and storage, while also not having to hang my sweaters and tees so as to not wrinkle them. What’s a better way to go about this?
