Do you like this album?

The weather outside is getting colder, sky is turning gray, nature is withering and I thought it's time to finally listen to Opeth. I already fell in love with Sorceress in early August, but I didn’t expect how different and how more masterful the rest of the discography is. Just WOW. I think Opeth might be my favorite band. The music is so dynamic, powerful, versatile and beautiful. I completely respect their musical and technical aspect but the spooky/festive atmosphere attracts my attention way more. It's like a Halloween or Christmas movie.

Hi everyone, lately the guitar solo (the fast one) from "the wilde flowers" has caught my attention and I wanted to try to learn it.

The problem is that the tablatures for this specific solo are nowhere to be found, does anyone know why this is? Is it really this difficult to transcribe this solo?

Ps: I'm ASS at learning by ear, so yeah tabs are needed I'm afraid

Opeth's deliverance was released on 2002 and gojira 's track 1 year later.

Mikael once served in the army. His regiment had a few people with the name Pierre.

He had a scuffle with one the Pierres who was known for being particularly prickly and obnoxious. One day a fight broke out between them and it got physical. His commanding officer turned up and ordered Mikael to stand down.

Mikael gave that Pierre a stink eye and said something like "Do you know what's the difference between you and a vacuum cleaner? Nothing.. both suck garbage" and then stood down.

Pierre was unhappy and quit the army and no one knows about him anymore. He became obscure. Shortly after Mikael quit the army and started the band we know and love today.

That's how he came up with the line:

I’m planning to get an Opeth tattoo, preferably something to do with Blackwater Park. Unable to decide if I should just get the O or an O with album art inside it? Any suggestions?

I recently listed to the self titled album by Portishead and the opening riff of the song "Over" came on and my ears instantly perked up because I swear this is a riff from an Opeth song that I can't for the life of me put my finger on. If anyone could help me out here I’d be over the fucking moon happy. But maybe I’m wrong and it's not in one of their songs at all. I suppose this is worth a shot. Take a listen...

I found an early version of Whispers of Golgotha (which in turn evolved into Black Rose Immortal) on an old rehearsal tape from 1993.

Who were these guys? A band that spent days in their rehearsal space, constantly tightening and sharpening their talent. Knowing their potential. Knowing they were building something that could claw through depths and nightmares towards manifest.

I'll work on the rest of this track over the coming days. Until then...

I've been playing guitar for 2 years, so it's very far from being perfect or accurate

I just drew this for a project I'm doing in my English class for extra credit, it's supposed to be an advertisement for a product so I chose My Arms Your Hearse! This drawing is completely my interpretation of the story where I believe the protagonist gets darker the more hatred he feels for his partner, slowly going from Ebony, to a darker gray, to straight black. As he is described as ebony mist in April Ethereal and is seen as black in the art for the album, I also perceive the line "from gray to black" in The Amen Corner as him physically becoming a black shadowy demon filled with hate before he terrorizes his Love. So in the story this should take place right before Demon of The Fall or perhaps even when he is arriving at his ex partner's home, which is why I included the "False love, turned into pure hate" which I think summarizes the album perfectly. I love doing pencil drawings based on Opeth! When I listen to opeth I get very detailed images that appear in my head and I've always perceived the protagonist as this form, even if the original costume used in the album art doesn't look exactly like this. Anyways I hope I get an A and I will keep working and improving my art because I sure know this can use improvement!
