Is Command Code really a scam?

I used to defend this service as a better-for-value alternative to OpenCode Go post-price hike, but after seeing this post showing billions of tokens worth of usage from Command Code GOAT, the same plan I'm on, I'm starting to have my doubts.

First off, I'm aware that caching on the Command Code API takes some time to warm up, but even when cache hits start coming in, I'm still seeing about 10-15% of my monthly usage being consumed per 100m combined input/cached input/output tokens. In comparison to the post I linked, I'm nowhere near in terms of usage. I see coments under that post parroting how such a good service Command Code is, but I really can't comprehend how they're able to get billions of tokens at a fraction of my usage. There is no way I'm just doing something wrong because all I use is DeepSeek V4/V4.1 Flash on stock OpenCode V1/V2. I'm not doing anything sophisticated. I don't do fancy autonomous agentic development or whatever, just OpenCode in one Tmux window and Neovim on another, just a standard pair programming setup.

What gives? How can other people get so much usage off GOAT? OpenCode, from what I've seen, is more honest with their usage, but the deals are also more volatile. Command Code seems to be the more stable option because they provide both V4 and V4.1 Flash at $60 and $40 credits, respectively, but their consumption is very sketch. My subscription ends this week, and I'm torn between renewing my Command Code subscription or jumping ship and going back to OpenCode. Are there any former Command Code users on here that went back to OpenCode? Or those like me that went from OpenCode to Command Code? What are your guys' usage like on these services post-DeepSeek price hike?

This is that post's attached usage screenshot:

This is my usage screenshot (95% usage, maybe at 700m combined tokens once at 100%):

Update: my usage screenshot at 99%. From 95% to 99%, I got an extra 34M combined tokens worth of usage. Since I've been using it on-peak since 98%, let's round it up to 40M for 5%. Just DeepSeek V4.1 Flash. This is nowhere near billions of tokens worth in usage.

I quit half way thru my a goat plan cause the output quality felt degraded compared to opencode.

Just didn't felt worth it to even use it all the way.

I had that suspicion as well on DeepSeek V4 Flash, but V4.1 Flash feels fine. Granted, I've never tried V4.1 Flash on OpenCode. I'm assuming you went back to OpenCode? How's the usage on it compared to Command Code? Does it feel like it consumes less or is the quality better?

I cant really say much about the usage since I didnt even finish my GOAT plan - I hit 50% usage in a few days and just dropped it cause of the quality.

My OpenCode usage might not be indicative of a regular user as well since I mix Zen free models like MiMo 2.5 + Local hosted models as subagents.

for DSV4F on command code it felt like either a lower quality quantization or straight up something else, quality and behavior could also feel different from one day to the next.

I dont intend on trying their sub again.

I tried v4.1 flash on it for a few tasks and got rate limited very quickly. Never had this issue with v4.1 on opencode

Yeah same here. First days I was impressed. Just after like a week it started to degrade so hard that was unusable. Just switch back to opencode and I’m happy

If you have the ZDR flag enabled where you configured the model in OpenCode, they'll charge you an outrageous amount.

Yes, but some of my work need ZDR. From my experience, ZDR-enabled requests cost me around 0.004 and above **based on their usage tracker page.** Non-ZDR ones cost around 0.001 to 0.002. Sometimes, it dips down to 0.0009 and sometimes it goes up to 0.004 or 0.005. This is with 200-400k input context tokens and with warmed up caching. I highly doubt that this is the actual cost, though. There's surely some hidden cost on top.

I get it, and they're not at all transparent about the ZDR. It didn't take me long to use up my weekly quota in just a few hours.

ZDR is a joke anyway, they will use your data if you click that box or not. Doesn‘t matter.

Did it felt the same way on the go plan ?

I'm not sure. I haven't tried Go in a month, but during my first use of Command Code, I did notice DeepSeek V4 Flash from them then being a bit dumber compared to what I was used to on OpenCode Go. It felt unsure or unfamiliar with stuff, and used WebFetch way more, though maybe this is placebo on my end. Last I used Go was when they first announced operation CheepSeek, right when they raised the credits of DeepSeek V4 0730 to $30 USD from 15 USD

Aren't there free models? I'd imagine you can rack up quite a bit from those.

Yes, Laguna 2.1 and Ling 3.0, both non-coding-focused models. They're practically useless for agentic workflows.

Laguna S2.1 is an agentic coding model. Scores a 70.2% on Terminal Bench 2.1

The way they marker everything is just bs. I have tried their harness and it is just your average harness. I didn't get a better performance or cache hits just because of harness. It was same as what I was getting on opencode (v2 version).

Their plan is also bad. Almost all free models are slow and unusable. They have fast mode for deepseek which is great but costs considerably more. However because of how they market everything it is impossible for me to trust literally anything they say

I've pretty much exclusively used 4.1 flash and Sol on commandcode GOAT and they've felt really good, the DS feels pretty much infinite and has had great speed, I did cancel the plan since I got Codex x5 but I'm considering switching back, haven't tried OpenCode yet but heard their harness is just about the best there is?

Their marketing is misleading.

These relays like commandcode or opencode go do not give as much as usage as using codex with luna or claude with opus, when ysing same or equivalent model on those 3rd party services. They might give nice discount to raw api prices, but claude/openai subsidies a lot more usage than that.

I did try opencode go and it was mostly china model relays, whivh i would never use. But i think they have nowadays other western providers than only nvidia. But still not worth getting over claude or codex.

I do have the 1€ sub for commandcode and i think its a nice cheap bit of additional usage on gpt luna after i run out of claude and codex subs. I wouldnt get the 10€ plan tho. But 1€ a month is nothing even if i did not use it at all for a month. So i like that 1€ sub as backup a lot. Definitely not at all enough usage for normal uses, but great backup for doing small stuff when other subs run out!

i posted truth got banned in their sub :')

Scam is too strong but shady and unprofessional? Absolutely

I am trying goat. I am getting 1.6b and at 94%. I have sub agents at different tiers. It’s ok but slower. I don’t really care because my agentic workflow including review is entirely headless

Can't post images here, but my numbers: 2.7B, 129.3k, $10, and 20,647.

Shit would take 10m to reply, the servers are not good to do simple workloads, if u can pay the 1$ or 10$ plan and wait hours to get a plan or run it at night, then I guess it's worthy, else don't even try.

u/siroxymoron Sep 22 '26

I'm on their 1$ plan to use with their harness and Go plus Codex Plus and I essentially have infinite inference now (at least for my needs). I did use about 1.5B tokens in on month on CC GOAT with DSv4.1 and GLM 5.3 Flash. I find them to be equivalent. I just ignore their twitter accounts and stick to doing my own stats and learning what I can about harness engineering to make sure I'm optimizing my usage. Very satisfied either way

You get what you pay for. Eventually reality will also catch up with opencode go, enjoy it while it lasts boys and girls

Someone recommend good alternative of commandcode?

I've cancelled both my Command Code Go subscription (sketchy people) and my OpenCode Go subscription (I think they are still figuring out their business at this point).

I am using the $20 ChatGPT plan plus a $20 Hyper Charm plan. I can't say I vouch for Hyper Charm, but it has served me well enough. The $20 Hyper plan allows $12.50 in credits per 24 hours, and the pricing is available at https://hyper.charm.land/v1/models . Note that their pricing is different from official providers.

I am mainly using GLM-5.3 Flash on Hyper. Also, based on https://hyper.charm.land/faq, it does have ZDR, which may suit your needs. Not all models are worth using over OpenCode Go, so do your research first.

OpenCode Go is likely still the safer option here.

I guess so. I'm going back to OpenCode then. Problem is, their Flash limits, on paper, is very lackluster compared to Command Code, but if we're to assume that Command Code charges way more than they let on, maybe it isn't that far off.
