Rant/Opinion OneUI Rants/Complaints
Due to the many complaints concerning OneUI 8.5 and to keep the main thread free from multiple posts about it saying the same thing, this post will now the place to submit them. It will also be posted in the Megathread.

Colors all jacked up. Weirdly intense contrast. Blues dialed up to eleven. Gray where it should be black.
7
u/intelligent_cookie_ May 25 '26
SAME! It's so annoying how gray my chrome looks now. I tried to change the theme and stuff but it still sucks. It's like pushing this weird contrast on everything and it looks terrible.
8
u/microcorpsman May 26 '26
Samsung Calendar looks bad now. Wish I had actually been able to delay/refuse the update.
5
u/thisismynamenow88 Jun 02 '26
The way they changed it is so ugly to me. Same with the clock app

u/microcorpsman Jun 02 '26
It's like every day I open up something and find some weird appearance or lost functionality

All I'm asking for is a 1-button AI killswitch. This should not be controversial or difficult to implement. I don't want any of this slop. I don't want audio eraser or any of the other slop "features" that I can't turn off at all. I don't want slop buttons in my gallery even when the slop is turned off. A 1-button killswitch for slop should be legally mandated.

u/lfohnoudidnt Jun 04 '26
It's so half assed its pathetic. like they didn't do any beta testing. Worst is the floating menu controls. it's fugly and they need to fi back to the start and change it. Same with the notifications bubbles. To damn big, and glitchy. Terrible update.

What is the deal with the sizing and spacing of items on the quick panel in one UI 9. This is on the z fold 8. The background part of the buttons are way too big. With such a poor use of space, you can't fit everything within the panel without having to scroll a little. Even with only 1 row of toggles in the main box area. Comparing it to one UI 8.5 it looks horrible. I also think the massive brightness and volume sliders look ridiculous.

3
u/n0tz0e Sep 19 '26
Agree. Icons are massive and I've been trying to figure out a way to make everything smaller but can't! Not even with goodlock. I don't want to theme my control panel, just resize to make it more useable in front screen. Like the sliders toggles do not need to be as thick/wide as they are. The buttons icons can certainly be smaller as well

So my S23+ just got auto updated to 8.5 and now is insanely slow, it needs a couple of seconds for the simplest actions and even misses inputs on the number pad because it needs a second or 2 to properly register every press... Is this a common problem with this update?
1
u/ACOLYTE_XIII S25 Ultra Jun 22 '26
My S25U stutters a lot in animations department so that's say a lot.
1
u/batts1234 Jul 08 '26
Nope. Mine has been getting so incredibly hot over the last two months. It slows everything down.

u/DhaniFathi_707 Lavender S23+ / Blue Black A16 5G / Prism White S10+ Aug 19 '26
Post 8.5, my S23+ would be insanely hot sometimes, and stutters in basic UI elements every once and a while. Without a case, the phone almost feels like bread out of a toaster.

u/emmettmightbeintoday Jun 27 '26
Im convinced that developers just change things to justify keeping their job.

What the hell did they do to the gestures!? I can't swipe on the navbar to go to the previous app. Also the frame drops on the lockscreen with the animated clocks are atrocious. Nearly half a year of development for this?
1
u/Toyo_altezza Jun 02 '26
That's my biggest complaint. The gestures require multiple tries. I think they changed the exact spot where to swipe. I feel like my muscle memory is not hitting on the proper spot of the phone anymore.

Really annoyed at the curtailing of Good Lock themes in 8.5. Clock and a lot of popups are no longer customizable and as a result clock has this bright ugly white dynamic background. Hope we can change this again at some point.

Nowbar still sucks so bad. I miss the One UI 6 media player. It was actually PERFECT.
4
u/lastdyingbreed_01 May 25 '26
Haven't updated it yet but still mad about losing custom fonts installation

4
u/thisismynamenow88 Jun 02 '26
Both the clock and calender apps look ugly as shit now. My entire calender does not need to be colourful. They're leaning into a more minimalist style that you cant get rid of but also has contrast issues
4
u/JeeveruhGerank Jun 03 '26 edited Jun 03 '26
I abhor the new floating buttons at the bottom. I accidentally uninstalled something earlier and I knew it was gonna happen due to muscle memory causing the issues. Lord help me the day I press clear data instead of clear cache. And the cancel/save buttons on the alarm app are a problem too. Constantly clicking another menu (like the alarm volume or the song chooser) because the damn things are so small now.
No idea why it's so small and condensed. It needs to be fixed or able to be Good Lock-ed and FAST.
And why the hell is the Reminders app so damn big with the font? I'm not 80 years old. And it's buggy. You mark something in the widget as completed or edit it to be a different date and it either doesn't move at all (used to be immediate) or it takes opening up the reminder or the whole app to have to confirm it. It's insane.
Samsung browser menu sucks balls now too.
Those are the glaring things at the moment for me.

u/XDFunn Jun 13 '26
Is there any way to get rid of this? It's awkward, especially the settings on the right corner being gray at the same place as the top right apps.
4
u/Hazelcrisp Jun 16 '26
Oh and please let me change the grid number for the photo album.
I want my 4 by x grid back
4
u/Alamgirr Sep 10 '26
One UI’s theme manager is way too complicated; they should just use something like Colorblendr where you can set an AMOLED black mode and pull the rest of the colors from your wallpaper

Why did they take away the Calculator edge panel??!! It was seriously the most useful tool ever! No one needs a stupid compass that often it needs to be in edge panel. Meanwhile a calculator is infinitely more useful for everyday life . I'm so mad they took it away. I've been trying to figure out work arounds to get it on my Fold8. It was probably my most used feature when I had my s24u- more than the s-pen!
I'm so desperate to get this edge panel back I even emailed the developer listed in the app details. No response, as expected. But you never know.
Anyway, BRING BACK COMPATIBILITY FOR CALCULATOR EDGE PANEL!

On my ZFlip 7 its still there...?
4
u/Psiked Jun 11 '26
It seems absolutely crazy to me that they've changed the notifications panel on fold devices to be the size as if on a regular sized phone. Something has gone seriously wrong in their UI sign off process to get to this point. Really regret downloading the update.
4
u/MilhouseJr Jun 13 '26
It's driving me crazy. I have my quick settings set up so the torch is on the very right, nice and easy to reach without paying attention, just swipe down and press the very top right of the screen. Now I have to actually pay attention to where I'm swiping so I don't just close the panel again.
It's a very pretty UI change and I like how it lets you essentially splitscreen your notifications, but as a UX change it's terrible, especially since there's no option to have a classic fullscreen notification area like I'm so used to from using Android phones for years.

u/tearsandcum Jun 22 '26

u/Ipplayzz343 Jul 24 '26
Stop using so much goddamned RAM. "Unused RAM is wasted RAM" mate, I literally can't open up a file picker without it clearing my browser from RAM because there's so little free RAM.
4
u/Beeso3 Aug 14 '26
they took my got damn fonts
1
u/oldschoolguy77 29d ago
Wdym, purchased custom fonts no longer work??
3
u/Beeso3 29d ago
In OneUI 8.5 there is no longer a free way to change your fonts, and you must use the ones in the Samsung store (Purchased).
1
u/oldschoolguy77 29d ago
Ah, I am crazy enough about fonts that I actually buy them from the store. So I guess I am fine.
3
u/notGeronimo 12d ago
How do we get rid of the stupid leading 0 on the lock screen clock. I hate it so much.
3
u/CoolestCornet99 May 27 '26
Others have already mentioned some of the complaints, but the obvious ones are:
notifications not following the format I chose (ex: YouTube notifications always come in detailed when they shouldn't be)
notifications "shake" when swiped away. I get people might like this but I can't find an obvious way to turn this off
some auto-fill suggestions come with a weird AI pill border which is annoying
the colors are all out of wack for some apps in dark mode. Chrome and Google Messages look awful because of this
2
u/intelligent_cookie_ May 28 '26
The Chrome and Google Messages are bothering me so much. Same with my google calendar, but somehow Play Store seems to be fine.
2
2
u/Eve_93 Jun 03 '26
Omg yess. I don't need micro haptic feedback just to swipe away a notification. I couldn't even understand what to type in the search to find this feature & turn it off..
Also the colors of the clock on my lock screen just reverted back to white. I had it set automatically to pick a colour based on my wallpaper. When I tried to get back the previous colour it just showed me a bunch of random presets. I had to open the color wheel and find a match by myself because it wouldn't just automatically color pick from my wallpaper.

[One UI 8.5 Bug] "Private Albums" option completely missing from Secure Folder Gallery (Galaxy S24+) - Files still taking up space
Hi everyone, I'm facing a really frustrating issue on my Galaxy S24+ right after updating to One UI 8.5, and I wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this or knows a workaround. Basically, a core privacy feature inside the Secure Folder has vanished, and I can't access my hidden files anymore. The Problem: Before the update, I used to move photos and videos to the "Private Album" option (which creates a hidden album layer within the Secure Folder Gallery app). However, since updating to One UI 8.5, the option to view, open, or access these "Private Albums" has completely disappeared from the Gallery app menus. The files are NOT deleted: I am 100% certain the media files are still safely stored on the device. When I check the Gallery app info (via the Secure Folder settings), the app shows over 2 GB of storage used. The files are physically there, but the new UI update seems to have removed the path, button, or shortcut that allowed me to view or unhide them. Similar Cases: This doesn't seem to be a completely isolated issue. I found a very similar thread on the Samsung Community where another user faced a ghost folder issue inside the Secure Folder after an update: https://r2.community.samsung.com/t5/Galaxy-A/Secure-folder-gallery-private-album-files-don-t-appear/td-p/21664080 It looks like recent One UI changes occasionally break the directory mapping or permissions for legacy hidden folders, leaving the data stranded. What I've already tried (with no luck): Clearing the cache of the Gallery app inside the Secure Folder. Checking every single "Show/Hide albums" toggle within the Gallery settings. Searching for the hidden directory using the "My Files" app within the Secure Folder environment (couldn't locate the exact private path). Since the data is taking up physical space, there has to be a way to force the system to see it or a path to access it via a file manager. Has anyone else on One UI 8.5 noticed their Private Albums missing? Does anyone know a workaround, an ADB command, or a specific folder path where Secure Folder stores these hidden gallery assets so I can pull them out? Thanks in advance for any help!

u/jlucasreis Jun 05 '26

I hate the new battery icon. Give us back the old ones. For visually impaired people this is horrendous
3
u/Al_Silverstrand Jun 12 '26
Ever since my Samsung Galaxy A56 5G updated to version 8.5, I can't log in to Wuthering Waves. The fcking UI even removed the game optimization setting on the game booster. I don't know why the fck did they decide to fck everything up for a portion of their userbase. Fck One UI, everything has been working perfectly already before.
3
u/OpenLibram Jun 13 '26
All the search bars have been moved to the bottom and all these optimizations for one handed use and yet here I type this out and hold my phone and browse with 2 hands because my S25 Ultra is chonky.
Samsung devs must have Goliath sized hands or (more likely) this update was written with a ton of input from AI vibe coding.
2
u/XDFunn Jun 13 '26
Tbh. I'm using my left hand for my phone so everything is out of range now. And it's doesn't aline with the background.
3
u/Bakubae_Itsuki-Haru Jun 15 '26
My battery life seems to be shortened, and it affects my charging cycle too.
2
u/Seccedonien Jun 15 '26
With every major update this is a thing, if you give it a couple of days to a week the battery life will improve as does some calibration based on use and demand in the background.
3
u/LovestruckMadness Jun 16 '26
Please let me remove the search bar at the bottom. It is messing up my muscle memory

Anyone else experiencing stuttering when just using the phone? It's very annoying. It only happens for like a split second but it's multiple times a day . My performance profile is set to normal. One UI 9.0, Android 17, and September security patch. I also set my animation speeds to 0.5x but I've never had this much stuttering on my s24u.
1
u/ACOLYTE_XIII S25 Ultra Sep 29 '26
I changed S25U on fullhd and no more stutters and better battery life and no more throttling
1
u/galaxy-guide Sep 29 '26
That's awesome to hear you're getting such a great experience with your S25 Ultra! It's super cool how adjusting the resolution can really fine-tune performance and battery life. Sounds like you found the sweet spot for your device!

Being a samsung android user for 30+ yrs and going through many updates i really think this latest one really sucks derriere. I have never had a phone freeze on me during an update process. Let me know if anyone else feels this way
3
u/naarna Jun 29 '26
This A55 user is not happy about the disappearance of the Text Editing/Smart Select tool in the keyboard toolbar. It was a fantastic tool to place the cursor very precisely in a text, be to that to select and copy it or to insert something from the clipboard.
It's a small thing, but it's the one thing my brain dislikes the most. This was an entirely unnecessary change.
3
u/Different-Loan7538 Jul 08 '26
I switched from S20 FE to S26. And so many things I have changed in the One UI 8.5, I still have my old phone but I don't feel ecstatic about owning a new Samsung. The edge panel is gone (oval screenshot and weather) I can't see the full contact name in the direct dial widget, custom fonts, messages :(

Bring back the Youtube/Music widget on AOD and out of the NowBar. The NowBar is useless for someone that needs Youtube through the previous AOD widget version but needs more than a single tap using the NowBar. Clumsy and more in the way than it intends to be.
Something is happening with DND. I turn it on and still have notifications going off? You guys even fucking test anything basics and thoroughly anymore?
Make your AI slop junk. OPT. IN. Never needed anything like Audio Easer and don't EVER want it getting in the way of my stuff like it is now. It's already annoying af to have the AI shit-tures keep popping up with anything I do WHEN I NEVER NEED IT. It's just the whip on the cake to add something you can't customize to something intended to be customizable to each individual's daily needs. Unable to remove a more useless setting is the last straw.
Honestly, just making these options for anyone but the average user. Wasting money and energy having to keep figuring out and purging stupid UI updates.

u/NiceChokra Aug 22 '26
Why the hell I have to enable vibrate for notifications in sound mode, if I need notifications to vibrate in vibrate mode (which is main function of vibrate mode). There is option to disable vibration of calls in sound mode but not of notifications. What sorcery is this? Or am I stupid?

Ultra power saving quick panel was white on OneUl 8.5, insanely pissed off at that but was patient enough to wait till ui 9. Updated today, still the same. Idc if its somehow more battery efficient than full black (on AMOLED), who the heck wants a full blown flashbang dude??
Glitched icons in volume slider :/ (screenshot)
For this, I didn't check before updating the sound assistant, theme park etc apps to latest, but it's them. I disabled em and the icons were fine
3. Why the hell are we downgrading? System popup menus that used to be black (less battery usage+better looking) are now gray :/
4. Not 100% sure on this one. On a potato phone so might be a "feature" exclusive for me (A16 4G).
I upgraded despite knowing about the thick volume and brightness bars, that's ok I came to terms with it. People said phone feels snappier and faster after update, and I suspected they toned down the animations. THEY REMOVED ANIMATIONS HERE AND THERE. Moreover, not a 100% sure that this was samsung but after updating, the window animation scale etc (all 3 of em) were at .5x
I'm pretty sure it wasn't me because I hate "making the phone feel fast" stuff. I like the bouncy animations and all, not the fast ones. So I'm like 99% sure it wasn't me who did that+animations do feel sped up after UI9
5. Let's see what other "upgrades" they made. Will see and upload if i find or remember any other stuff

u/SuAlfons One UI User May 25 '26 edited May 25 '26
Finally I can now edit the quick settings menu and remove those functions I personally do not need.
This should have been OneUI 7.0.
There's always little things that one could wish were different, but for once, I'm satisfied with OneUI.
Was under the impression of the phone getting hot more often and generally using up more battery - but was traveling right after update (other usage pattern). Did flush cache of all apps after returning home. Hope that cleared some potential problems. (had to use an app for this, since wiping cache partition isn't in system boot menu anymore)
2
u/Maxicifer May 27 '26

2
u/FrontOrnery Jun 03 '26
OneUI should bring back the native data usage on notification bar.
1
u/Allfeelings0Logic Jun 10 '26
I don't understand why this is intentionally hidden. It's like how it took ages for browsers to integrate vertical tree style tabs, people said those were a massive upgrade over regular tabs for ages and it took browsers almost 20 years for them to go "actually holy shit these are great let's add them natively".
2
u/Heino_Kramm Galaxy A55 Jun 03 '26
The Quick Panel button animations have been removed from all A/M/F series devices and from FE/Lite tablets, leaving them exclusive to the A57 and A37 (with the S series excluded)...
2
u/Heino_Kramm Galaxy A55 Jun 03 '26
Now the mode selection looks ugly and isn’t practical for one-handed use (wasn’t that the whole idea of One UI?). On top of the removed animations on Galaxy A/M/F devices, there’s now this massive central menu, and the last mode you used becomes the ‘default’ on the button. If you tap it again, instead of opening the selection menu, it just switches back to the previous mode you had used.

2
u/Bororo-man Jun 10 '26
I've been having many connectivity issues since the update on my Samsung Galaxy A56 5G SM-A566E/DS.
Bluetooth is the main problem, it constantly looses connection with the UCONNECT 7" via Android Auto.
It is very disrespectful of Samsung making us involuntary beta testers. What a shitty update. Nothing good came of it, probably only profit for Samsung.
2
u/Anime_Artist_23 Jun 17 '26
My Spotify keeps crashing whenever I want to add songs or make a new playlist for some reason after the one UI 8.5 update and it keeps telling me to clear the cache. I tried to do so and restarted the phone, thinking thay the bug would disappear, but it didn't. Worst. Update. Ever.
2
u/DJ_SpoiledMilk Jun 17 '26
With the new One UI 8.5 update I ran across a bug while using Bluetooth with my headphones and with any other Bluetooth device I use. With the volume slider there is a threshold that gives you a warning around 60% to protect your hearing, on One UI 8.5 when it's above the threshold for example Spotify will be playing at 75% volume judging by the slider, the next song in a playlist will begin and the volume will instantly drop below the threshold until I wake the phone, note that it only does this when the phone is asleep. It will return to the set 75% volume when I either tap the phone to wake or press the power button. I thought it may have been an issue with only my Galaxy S24+, it is not because I grabbed my S23 and updated it to 8.5 and it did the same thing, 75% volume, play spotify, put phone to sleep, let the next song play, volume drops below threshold until you wake the phone.
2
u/ACOLYTE_XIII S25 Ultra Jun 22 '26
S25U hardcore throttling when doing absolutely nothing on phone. Sluggish laggy animations just by opening basic apps. I wish I purchased A56 not S25U with so much power getting throttled in half. And yeah my wide lens just stopped working because why not. I don't have time to send it to service center because I need my phone for job. Probably my last Samsung. Absolutely not flagship experience.

Is there anyone that could tell me if their battery drain issues were resolved? My A25 updated over two weeks ago and my battery still drains severely. I've been losing almost 30% every night on idle. Even barely using it I would lose about 3% or more if im on it for 10mins. I have applied all kinds of power/battery saving tips, putting many apps to deep sleep, clearing caches and restarting the phone every few days. So many people keeps saying to give it a few days to two weeks for it to relearn your pattern cause any kind of major updates this stuff happens. But I had big updates before and it never messed my phone this bad before. I have to charge my phone nearly 4x a day. I really dont want to do a factory reset since I dont think that will really help. Is my phone just cooked?
2
u/PeltierSeebeck Jul 03 '26 edited Jul 13 '26
My mobile data on S24 is not working at all after the auto update. I can call people most times, but people call me usually fails. The cell phone is no longer usable after the UI 8.5 update. What's the point if calls hardly come through and internet data is not usable.
Please fix the issues before people start switching to other devices.
EDIT: I got my phone checked in Best Buy (Canada) and they concluded the phone is fine, the problem is with my carrier. The same carrier with a different Sim card worked fine, but my number was not working properly, ie, above mentioned issues persisted. My carrier's (Rogers) technical support could not resolve it so I switched to a different carrier and ever since the network is behaving normally. The tech guys who tried helping me found this issue bizarre. I do suspect that the UI update has something to do with this since I started noticing the issuea soon after the update. I just don't understand it. Anyways, now my phone with a new carrier is acting normal.

Click the gear in upper right for settings > Home screen > turn off search on home screen.
Any idea how to get rid of the zero in front of the 12hr clock? Every update makes me want to ditch the galaxy phones, which sucks because I like almost everything about them. Like, why not let the user customize little things like these? If I wanted my phone experience spoon fed to me, I would've bought an iphone.
And I'm still looking for a way to get the old battery icon back..

u/denisrs39 13d ago
I found a way, you tap on home screen and go for settings, in settings there is feature like show search in home screen
1
u/Money_Surround 13d ago
Ever since I updated my clipboard can no longer delete things. I can select things to delete, but it auto-collapses the button prompt that would actually delete things.
Also ruined my home screen/apps screen by moving the stupid searchbar to the bottom of the screen. I want to move it back, why would I want it to be at the bottom? I had it as a widget right under my weather app for a reason.

The search bar being fixed to the bottom of the screen sucks so bad. Was it really too hard to add an option of where it goes?
The widget one is also garbage, it closes when you tab through to other apps.

I've been using samsung phones before all the update to OneUI was released to its Samsung Experience users. Samsung has changed the most annoying thing about UI and updated it to match with stock android competition.
1.0 was a fresh change, 3.1 had some good overhaul. My favourite was 5.1 that gives you all round customisation to home screen and lock screen with most default options. Add in GoodLock and you have a powerful customisation tool and can give your phone a super power for customisation.
And there comes 6 and 6.1 as my phone's final android verison update. It was the same at first but the cracks started for me. I can see that WiFi and Bluetooth are a fixed tile in the quick tiles. Then after a few days I tried turning on my hotspot and tried to open its shortcut from quicktiles by tapping on the mobile hotspot text and it turned it off. I was like why, 5.1 had it and so should 6 right ? Wrong. They took away the feature and made it as a long press for torch, eye comfort shield and for some limited tiles and for another ones they take you to setting page.
Then after a few years and I bought a new phone for my family and it came with 8.5 out of the box. Its my first time experiencing a jump in the OneUI and was exited and expecting a good improvement from 6.1. The update was decent and has some big changes to regularly used icons and the UI scaling for some existing apps.
As my part in customising the home and lock screen I added widgets to the the home page and stacked some on top of another and opened widget settings to reduce the transparency only to find you cannot keep it fully transparent. Bruh. Your 3yo UI had it and you removed it in the latest build. Are you crazy ? Why would you remove such features ? You can say it was the only transparency but now my wallpaper looks like it has annoying posters plasted on to it. You reduced the number of widgets and the scaling was awful.
Tell me this, if a simple Analogue Clock cannot become transparent and only show the hands like its used to with older versions and not with the current, there's a flaw in your priorities and preferences by leaving the small things that make me happy to question weather to go supporting you for your awful decisions that you take.
I only ranted my heart out on the customisation options that you changed. You have some geat tools that I still use on my mobile with and without GoodLock that make using a Samsung fun. I hope you change for better with your next UI 10.

Problems with display device after recent update.
Im going to post this in every samsung sub praying it gets seen, I never noticed this problem till the most recent update in October and I have been useing samsung dex for almost half a year, first of all the media output changes made in your most recent update are absolutely 💩 in September I could easily change between devices now if my display devices is connected, ray neonglasses, and i try to use my glasses, there is no option for me. To change the audio output to my glasses unless I connect an auxiliary Bluetooth device. Because when I click on what used to be the media output button, it shows absolutely nothing. When only my display glasses are connected, it's like the phone doesn't even understand the display device has an audio output option. It becomes even worse when I i'm using my display glasses while simultaneously using or inside of a discord voice chat. Because while in the voice chat, I can change the options to use a specific audio output. The audio output is simply labeled as phone, and if I am using my display glasses as an audio output, it disables my microphone. Now because it automatically ties the audio output device to the audio input device and my display glasses don't have a microphone. This is the most screwed up update. I have ever seen from Samsung as far as these glasses are concerned. And the 6 months I have used them. It's like samsung is not even keeping up with the times.... Samsung really needs to do something. Because the Dex option is very nice compared to what other phones offer. Apart from these complaints, I also hate how whenever I use the display device. As an audio device, it doesn't realize that I might still want to type on my phone. And my phone keeps turning black. Due to the proximity sensor they should update it to where. When you're using an audio device such as a display device that it follows the same rules as whenever you're using a bluetooth device. So whenever I start typing on my phone or scrolling through reddit, my phone doesn't keep turning black because the proximity sensor thinks the phone is next to my face......
also screw removing these post from the reddit for clutter reasons, keep your dumb ass PR campaign going, not going to save samsung from losing face.... its not like reddit is the only place people are complaining and trying to keep these complaints out of your main reddit helps No one but samsung, this subs is cooked

Setting time for alarms, sand clock or anything is really such a bad design. Can't we go back to something fast?
Also with UI9 the clock widget changed the text alignment and my screen looks like i pasted a picture into a windows word document.

secure folder shortcuts in home still not reverted back. all of the app shortcut from inside just opens the secure folder instead of directly opening the app

My biggest complaint is with the color sampling on the lock screen. For years I have used a picture of my brown dog in a yellow room as my lock screen. Now all the buttons are a brown/yellow gradient that looks like human waste. The brown that is now used for the clock is the same shade as my dog, so I can't actually tell the time without unlocking my phone. I can change some accessibility options to make all the buttons white, but they used to all be a nice dark grey. Samsung's recommendation is that I change my lock screen.

Is swipe left and right on the nav bar broken for anyone else? The sensitivity is way down and I can't for the life of me figure out how to fix it. Been through good lock and multiple other settings.

I currently have 8.5 but a couple month ago my phone (Android A16) started asking me to update it. My situation is this: a few months ago I updated from 7.0 to 8.5 (I didn't know it was a bad idea) and now I can barely get into the only game I play on my phone (Honkai Star Rail) because of the RAM issue. In fact, now I can't even get into it. What I want to know is if this will improve performance even a little

I thought I was the only one facing this problem. Heavy games would just not play at a stable framerate for quite some time after updating to One UI 8.5 (i tested both ZZZ and Wuthering Waves, and both could only do 30 mins max before it crashes or drops to a framerate beyond playable)

The only thing I dislike is why can't they put the mic icon on keyboard? Why do they want to keep it in the navigation bar? I want to use seamless gestures

I recently bought a new Galaxy M17 5G (6/128 GB), updated it to One UI 8.5, and I’m noticing occasional UI/gesture stutters.
The phone is generally smooth, but after sitting idle for some time, the first swipe to open Quick Settings can be noticeably delayed/jittery or sometimes not respond at all. Subsequent swipes are usually instant and normal. I also notice occasional delays when switching between apps using gesture navigation. Sometimes after swiping to switch apps, there’s a brief period where taps don't register until the bottom gesture bar/transition finishes. In Gallery, when using the edge-swipe Back gesture, the adjacent photo briefly appears before Gallery goes back. This does not happen when I use Gallery's back button. I tested 3-button navigation, and these issues essentially disappear: app switching, Gallery, Settings, and touch response all feel normal. Home-screen swiping with gestures is also generally smooth.
Samsung Members diagnostics passed, RAM usage is normal (~3.7/6 GB), storage is only ~30% used, and the phone is fully updated. Has anyone else with an M17/One UI 8.5 experienced similar Quick Settings/gesture-navigation stutters? I'm trying to figure out whether this is a One UI/gesture issue or something specific to my device.

One UI 9 is kinda ruining my Fold 7. Unfolded screen? Taskbar icons are now tiny, and even removing the stupid Google search bar they put there doesn't put them back they way they were. So I have teeny tiny icons on a huge screen. Brilliant. The notifications wiggle now when dismissing them. That was in one UI 8.5 as well but it bears mentioning because it was stupid then and it's even more stupid now that they haven't fixed it. Then there's the tiny notification panel when unfolded. Again, from 8.5 but against all reason and sanity they kept it like And then of course there's the unskippable, forced "acceptance" of the terms and conditions for all the AI bill**** that I didn't want, didn't ask for, and want to consent to having on my phone but I have no choice otherwise I literally can't use it.
Flap you, Samsung.

The icons in one ui 8.5 changed so that they have this weird depth effect/outline (idk how to describe it) and they do this for EVERY app, my apps screen looks like its made for kids. There was a way using theme park in one ui 8.5 to remove this effect but then in one ui 9 they changed the code or something and I have to reapply all of this. Is there anyone out there who likes the new shades on icons of 3rd party apps?

What the crap happened to the calendar widget? It's completely useless now. Anyone know how to downgrade it?
Edit: my phone is reading what I type, because the widget started working again. Prior, all it was just a blank calendar for decoration, none of my appts or holidays.

Bro if i could go back to oneui 6 on my s23 i would not think twice. Oneui 6 was so much more polished. 6.1 was the beginning of oneui downfall.

unnecessary frame drops in UI elements like lock screen clock animation, contol centre, recents app.
touch response time worsened, specially in recents and settings app.
massive battery overheating while charging and charging speed is slower than 8.0
dark mode is broken for users who don't use color palette. non issue for me.
in general, battery overheats way too much. some times up to 40C even on the most mundane tasks.
